So, I was very bored for a while and decided to install a game that wasn't complete crap. After looking for a while, I thought "why not get homm3 again?"
It's been a few days and I'm 3 campaigns in and I can't stop playing this game even though I've spent thousands of hours in it. why is it so good bros? very few more recent games have the ability to hook you so well like homm3 does.

you are right op. not much to be said. in recent times, total warhammer ( 2 especially) had a similar homm3 effect on me. give it a go.

Very true. Although i do find it annoying how the enemy can sometimes start yo yoing you back and forth from your base
ie
>have large army on one hero
>go to attack his main base
>he has a shitter that comes from a second direction with a strong army for my main base
>turn around to go fight that
>he runs away
>repeat

I had the same problem with Disciples II as well. I re-installed it a month before the critical exam and wasted three weeks going through all four of the campaigns. Fortunately, I was able to get a passing grade so I didn't fuck myself up.

I love it too. BUT, I feel every map ends up being kind of the same uncontrolled mess. I need maps with a ton more effort, and games that go a lot slower.

Just finished the Steadwick campaign mission after bashing my head against it for 4 hours thinking i was finally free of it and the next campaign mission is to take steadwick as the humans. wtf I thought I was free of this gay map

i love the chaotic mess, but i do understand your point, i personally prefer to stay and build an army slowly than to go straight to combat week 2-3

I don't know what the program is called, but you see the same thing in shadowrun and BGEE
devs who don't have artistic ability or the will to do something that takes a lot of time and effort
but the game should be good
