the very first cnc with it's antiquated gameplay is such a weird choice for a remaster. I'd understand a remake, but remaster is just weird.

It hasn't happened yet, it hasn't even entered alpha, a bunch of shit is still all fucked up as you can see from the video. It's coming soon though. It's also being developed by a separate team of modders focused specifically on multiplayer while the core OpenRA team is working on Tibsun, which will also have singleplayer element, then they'll move onto RA2.
