Why the hate? Played a chapter of Leon's campaign, then 2 of Chris' and some Mercenaries mode and it's all around great. It feels like a way more fun version of Gears of War since the undead are more interesting than aliens and we can use melee attacks without first needing to stun the enemy like on 4. I'd only argue that sometimes the abundance of mobility overwhelms me since I'm more used to the slower pace of 4, but that's just me being retarded.

It's really long.
People hate long games.
It's a fun game, I like it alot. It's a victim of memes and nothing more.
I personally find a game can only sustain itself for 12 hours. After that point things start getting repetitive and all if the ways you can use the mechanics have been exhausted.
Resident Evil 6 carried it's running time very well and despite intersecting campaigns doing the same thing over again was kept to a minimum
I jerked off to Helena, Sherry and Ada.
The game tried to please everyone, so it pissed off everyone.
Leon's campaign is trying to shoehorn horror into an action game, which pissed off action fags.
Chris's campaign is full on action, which pissed off horror fags.
Jake's campaign added OC donut steal then tried to pair him with Sherry, which pissed off waifu fags.
Ada's campaign was single player originally, which pissed off co-op fags. Plus her campaign is so fucking awful, and the shoehorned co-op now looks retarded with the 2nd player essentially not existing and teleporting everywhere.
QTE's out the ass (they toned them WAY the fuck down in the re-releases).
Leon's final boss took years to kill even though it's boring as fuck (also fixed in re-release).
The story is trash in all campaigns.
Helena is pure garbage.
They killed off the best new character.
The level design is meh - garbage.
The skill system is trash with the fun stuff being mercenaries only.
Set-piece after Set-piece after Set-piece after Set-piece.
RE6 has some great gameplay but it fucked up in so many areas.
For all of the good ideas it did have it copied FAR too many bad ones from other AAA cinematic experiences. A good 70% of its setpiece moments simply aren't fun and don't mesh particularly well together. The base mechanics are fine but the actual game design is slapdash and very poorly conceived.
>Playing any game from this saga made after 2004
All they had to do was make 5 again, but dial back the bright areas and bring back some gloom from previous entries. Had they gone that route it would have been miles better than the clunky action game 6 is. Jake campaign has you facing zombies with guns right off the bat, while you run around "dodging" machine gun fire from the heli, in a map so awful it's hard to believe.
The Revelations games and 7 are fine while RE2make is straight up great. 5 and 6 suck dick, though.
5 is pretty good. It has big faults, such as being day time most the time, zombies with guns etc. But the game ain't bad like 6 is. Leon campaign in 6 is ok, the rest is utter shit. Revelations 2 was pretty lackluster, but I played it as second player in co-op, meaning I had flash light duty the whole game.
>disliking 5
It's co-op kino, going by those early trailers it could've been a lot better but it's still great.
when you say re-release you just mean the updated/patched game right? 1.0.6? I have the original ps3 version and the pc version and they both have the option to edit fov, reduce most qte events to auto-complete and everything else seems the same besides the pc version of mercs where there's extra enemies if you play that specific mode instead of normal mercs. was there really other stuff that was added or are we just talking patched = rerelease? I also wasn't aware of changes to simmons, do you means the bug/lightning rod battle or a different part? He's major encounter a few times during that part of the game.
I can understand people not liking it for not being anything like old Resident Evil games but it wasn't a bad game at all.
I couldn't tell you if the changes were first introduced in a patch or the re-release as I played RE6 on the PS3 first years ago, then recently replayed the PS4 version. I just listed the differences that I found. With the Simmons boss, I found that all his forms, most notably the T-Rex form, went down insanely easier/faster. I also played the re-release on veteran straight away skipping normal, so the difference was apparent. On early PS3 Simmons was the biggest bullet sponge ever.
Gotchya, from what I remember all that stuff added in to the ps3 version was an entire year after launch, right when the pc version finally hit if I'm remembering right. I do remember simmons take a long time but I didn't realize he was possibly rebalanced, thanks user, I'll look more into that.
the gameplay downright sucked.
>sliding/dodging was useless
>you stuck to every god damned corner like it was magnetized
>some special zombies are damage sponges, even if you use the stamina (unnecessary mechanic) stuff on it
Didn't know there's a re-release. Is it on Steam?
You played the only good part of Leon's campaign and Chris' campaign is ironically the most cohesive and enjoyable despite being the most obvious departure from "survival horror" RE in the game. It's still got the best TPS systems ever though, IMO.
there is a pc version and a ps4/x1 version with better graphics than the ps3/360 versions
it's been like $7 on steam sale with all the multiplayer dlc thrown in, $5 for the base game, summer sale or a random capcom sale will see it for dirt cheap, don't waste the $20 unless you really need your re fix now.
Thanks
I have never seen so much EXPLOSIONS in a game in my life. It's really repetitive: just kill the same enemies for an entire campaign, and it ends with a couple of explosions. Not even Michael bay puts so many explosions in his movies like this game did.
also if it wasn't clear the dlc is only for 3 different versus modes if i am remembering right, you can play the base game coop and agent hunt which is coop story with versus thrown into the mix without the dlc and i don't think any of the dlc adds merc mode stuff. the online popultion is fairly low for re6 and further compounded by having hosts define so many options like agent hunt, 5 difficulty modes, infinite ammo, friendly fire and such limiting who can and can't join. it's kind of a mess - the versus dlc stuff was fun playing back when it was more populated, especially the nemesis mode where it was 1 vs a group of survivors but you might have to join a re steam group to get a full lobby if that is something you are interested in.
Why is RE couch co-op dead?
I decided to replay Resident Evil 5 by myself yesterday, haven’t played since launch. I was actually getting a bit hyped while reading the history of Resident Evil file in the library section of the menu, then I picked Veteran difficulty and started the game.
Jesus Christ, I didn’t know how bad the Sheva AI is because I only played it with a friend back in the day, but the into mission is killing my motivation to play because Sheva is always getting caught or getting into Dying state. In the fucking intro.
Is Veteran really this much bullshit in 5?
3rd person shooter split screen with those weird off center screens in re5 was kinda brutal, never tried 6 couch coop if it even has it but i'm guessing it was the same. very hard to see anything beyond 10 feet from your character
Do you have her set to Attack or Cover? Sheva isn’t really that bad if you select Cover for her. She’ll stick close and only shoot enemies that are near. Once you get the bolt action rifle, give it to her and set her to Attack. She’ll clean house pretty easily. Also if you beat the game and use infinite weapons, giving her the M29 magnum makes professional a breeze with the exception of a few boss fights.
just keep her on cover and she'll typically stick to within 10 feet of you. honestly never really had any issues with the re5 ai and i played coop and solo at launch. the lab fight with the flame unit against tentacle guy is a bit tricky but other than that she actually did a great job of stating out of the way and covering me as long as i didn't wander infront of a gatling gun with her like a noob, of all the coop npcs in games that can die, sheeva and the re6 cast do a fine job 90% of the time with proper orders and tactics.
The only redeeming factor is how outrageously healthy Sherry's body is in RE6. She's all tits and ass and thighs.
