I finally played Ever17. Really enjoyed it and I think that was probably Uchikoshi's most cleverly implemented plot twist out of all the stuff of his I've read. I still think 999 and VLR were overall better though. I got tired of chicken sandwich adventure after like 2 of the routes.

I've been into black cyc's cthulhu title and harukaze's nora to oujo series lately.
The former is surprisingly interesting. The story had a "hard mode" for those that like slightly hardcore stuff where the heroines get strucked with all kinds of disability and the h-scenes get a lot more extreme.
I was very upset that none of this game's marketing actually mentioned the "hard mode". Should I know about it before hand I'd have played the VN ages ago.

Well yeah, changing the universal scaling has the same effect, but I would prefer if it only affected one program so I didn't have to go back and forth. After googling for a bit though I'm fairly sure it just isn't possible unless the program specifically has compatibility settings for high DPI screens, which obviously old VNs wouldn't have.
