left
right is incompetent as fuck
God, Yandere sim had so much fucking potential.
At least he's being ousted as being shit.
I dont understand how yandere simulator is even a thing. Who actually wants to pay money for this?
why is this making me laugh so hard
Didn't yandere dev used to post here?
in concept it could be a lot of fun. Back in the days of "what if"s anyways.
How do you make Yandere Simulator a viable concept?
I just don't see it being all that fun to kill 8 girls in the same small school environment.
Left, despite being in a similar dev hell, has done much more than the guy who sits on Patreon cash on the right.
The answer is simple but very difficult: Give the game Metal Gear Solid levels of attention to detail as well as dynamic AI you might find in something like Rain World.
is that an actual thumbnail he used
Yeah, back when it was a silly idea he was doing in his spare time. Over time people sucked his dick too much and he started thinking it was a serious project and added more and more shit to it as he became arrogant and full of himself. Then when Yea Forums had enough of his shit they laughed him out and he turned to other places that lack enough thinking comprehension to call him out.
Then when he had a base that'd justify him and a Patreon set up he lost interest but continues to this day to pretend he's making it so he doesn't lose his funbux.
fuck off, Alex
Didn't someone post his game code and his coding skills were terrible?
I only have this image saved, I don't know anything about coding though
That's honestly kind of incredible, how the fuck do you try to make a game with no idea on what a Switch statement is?
This guy goes into it in lots of detail if you're interested:
youtube.com
It really is a clusterfuck and changing even a few values can break the game.
both trash
Imagine a shitty Hitman but same level the whole game
post the drawing where it's his real face
Based 2hufag.
Reminder that a new 2hu was announced.
Yes
>a Switch statement
With strings?
I remember that game was everyone in 2012 or 2011 I forgot
Yeah, that's pretty much the problem as I see it. Hitman with no disguises, no tiered security levels, same level, patrols, routines, distractions, etc.
It's like he said "I want to make anime Hitman" and didn't really think the concept through.
You wouldn't use strings
Using strings to represent constants is usually retarded, especially for states
Use an enum or something and make a switch on that. Or a lookup table of function pointers for handling each state that your enums map to
Why does it seem like this happens with most devs coming to Yea Forums who end up creating something recognized by the mainstream? Wasn't Notch the same way?
he stopped when people found out he was EvaXephon
It would be fine as a fun gimmick game if he kept the concept simple but right now the project's got issues with feature bloat and by the time it's done it's gonna be an unfun garbage filled mess.
>People complaining about Yandere dev being a retard
>Not understanding that Mike Z is beyond retarded
Okay, sure whatever guys
Mike Z has finished multiple games. Eva has dropped half a dozen
>implying any coder is as retarded as YandereDev
Left. It's difficult to overstate how overdone japanese schoolgirls in sailor uniforms are.
>that lack enough thinking comprehension to call him out.
That lack the ability to compare notes and learn from each other. It's the epic store strategy.
Yes, before he was known as YandreDev he went by EvaXephion and would make threads asking for critique of his waifu OC "Luna" who he was trying to make a beat'em up for.
Except he really just wanted Yea Forums to praise his shit design and wouldn't budge on changing anything about her (Had to be goth, had to use a laser scythe, had to have a crescent moon theme).
The beat em up was the game Mike Z apparently mocked for having terrible coding which started the infamous "feud".
It's hard to call Mike Z retarded when he's figured out several games and created both an engine and a game from scratch solo.
He's definitely opinionated and a sensitive little baby that is turned off instantly by any hostility, but a retard he ain't.
yon dairy sim
Skullgirls was not at all finished, it's just they pushed all the money into the game, and the game was cheap enough for everyone it was a 3v3 with 9 actual characters, and an ultimately useless tutorial due to the online meta.
I guarantee Under Night has a tenth of the budget and profit they had, even with the RapStar fiasco.
>he doesn't know
>Be Yandev
>Somehow manages to keep a million hardcore fans desperately in love with him and his mediocre game
>The same game that has been in development for 5 years and looks identical graphically
>The same game that has an extremely lazy "pink boxes and one font for everything" approach
>The same game that has 500 lines of code for rendering a character's proper eye color
>The same game that is still using all Unity store assets and models 5 years later
>The same game that still hasn't even had its FIRST rival implemented 3 years after he supposedly started working on it
>The same game that's literally got less features than a shitty Chinese knock-off published on the App Store 2 years ago
How does he do it lads?
I know very little about programming, but I've poked around in Street Fighter II and so much stuff is based on lookup tables. It was a pain in the ass trying to recreate it in Mugen, which lacks any sort of table or array functionality.
By having your target audience be a buncha edgy teenage girls who don't know any better.
His patreon has been declining monthly for the past 2 years. I think people have grown wise to his shtick and his only option now is to get Osana and the kickstarter out asap before he loses more interest.
YanSim has such a gigantic scope compared to other Indie games that it’ll probably never ever release. It’s been 5 years and he’s only like 10-20% the way done. To the point where Hitman itself got more or less revived as a franchise with 2 games and a 3rd I think.
Using strings in this case is retarded. Why isn't the witnessed string just an enum
It hurts to look at
I've stopped following the train for a bit. Osana still isn't in?
Under Night has something Skullgirls will never have, the evo main stage.
Hi yanderedev nice to see you drop by
I think about learning to code every once in a while so I can make a game, but never do.
Can someone tell me what's wrong here so I don't make the same mistake if I choose to learn?
It's his alluring radio voice. His followers must be reminded of how Alex actually looks like to counteract it.
He has a list of things he wants in the game before he is willing to put Osana in.
>Reminder that a new 2hu was announced.
Isn't there basically always a new 2hu coming out
go back to /jp/ scum
>grab spammed to death
Is it impossible to use a grab input to escape? Or is this a command grab he willingly ate constantly?
Ao Oni. Shit was complicated as fuck, it's a good game
>Indivisble
>development hell
What? They regularly post updates and are moving on at a steady clip. They might be behind their projections but the game isnt in development hell
I think the fundamental rival system of the game should be implemented before adding a bunch of bullshit.
Just seems like being busy for the sake of being busy.
I don't even think he can push out a Kickstarter at this point without massive backlash. He's been working on the game for what, four years now off of Patreon backing? Asking for more money now when he admitted himself he has no idea when the game would be finished would kill any future he has as a game developer.
Left is a complete wasted potential. What the fuck were they thinking by combining 2 genres but badly.
Right is something that should have lived and died as a nice joke game, but now it's an embarrasing corpse. What the fuck was he thinking, in general.
So I choose left, because of the eventual porn and nothing more.
I dont recognize the game on the left
Indivisible. It has the game director, MikeZ, that YandereDev has a grudge against. YandereDev made Yandere Simulator to spite MikeZ.
Theres something called a switch case, where instead of going through all the ifs in an orderly manner, it goes straight to the good one. Better for performance.
But what's worse is that this piece of code has no grasp on what the fuck is an object.
if(this.Teacher) ??? the object itself should be a teacher lmao, no need for an if on that.
Also for all his different reactions, he uses strings for them, ignoring enums altogeter.
So not only is this piece of shit not gonna run well, it's a piece of shit to maintain. What if the 'Witnessed blood' action no longer exist or changes? You gotta search all instance in the code of that instead of a simple delete or update.
1. String comparisons. Witnessed and GameOverCause can be turned in to enums (numbers) for more efficient comparisons and better organization.
2. If he used enums/numbers, that entire block could just be converted to an array to update what he's doing.
Think about the effort involved in string comparisons. To check equality, it has to go through each char (character), check char equality, if equal, continue to next char, if not equal, move to next if. It's a lot more work than number comparisons.
Oh god lmao
Now I've seen both sides
Used to lurk a Skullgirls forum and saw him BTFO
The game could've been done by now if he dialed the scope way back and just made a silly anime Hitman game but he decided to add a ton of unnecessary bullshit and now it's ballooning out of control like Dobson's inflation fetish.
Dude needs to stop and cut all the unnecessary shit he's adding and start working towards an official release in the next year, year and a half tops.
second post best post
>Theres something called a switch case, where instead of going through all the ifs in an orderly manner, it goes straight to the good one. Better for performance.
This is incorrect. Switch statements don't just magically go to the matching case, internally it goes through the exact same steps involved with if statements because that's what they're converted to.
>My first piece of work was criticized harshly and instead of realizing I can improve and taking his criticism, moving on I decided to become a spiteful asshole
Why is he like this
Basically he got lucky with streamers and once he got a patreon going he was basically set. Weirdly, it's rare for patreon money to slow down or even stop despite all of the things you've listed above. What's more, the longer someone donates to a project, the harder it is for them to stop. It's like a variant of the sunk-cost fallacy or the gambler's fallacy. If they stop their monthly donations, or even reduce them, it's like admitting they were stupid and wrong for however many months they had been donating. So rather than admit that, their psyche swallows up whatever shit excuse the retard-in-chief spits out.
Some people see criticism as a means to improve and get better, others see it as a personal attack and get defensive. It's not hard to tell which one Eva falls under.
Possible narcissistic personality disorder? The dude shrinks away from even the calmest criticisms and generally refuses to change his ways if confronted, instead doubling down. Basically, he knows best all the time, others are just spiteful douches if they disagree. What's funny is that, if you read the chat logs he's referring to, you'll see that Mike Z accurately pointed out in his """engine""" essentially every problem that YandereSim as a game has. Mike said that the foundation for adding new code was weak, and it wouldn't hold up under development because it would take way too long to change even one character's special move input. He said the update loop was poorly optimized and that the code was badly organized and structured. He said that it was basically worthless. Maybe that was harsh to say to someone who looks up to you, but Mike was just telling him the cold truth, trying to spare him the pain of having to make a full game with that as his foundation. The irony is that, because of Eva's personality, Eva ended up fulfilling Mike's prophecy. I wouldn't wish active development on YandereSim's codebase on my worst enemy. It's legit garbage that needs to be rebuilt from the ground up, and the fact that development has all but stopped is proof. The codebase simply cannot support more features being added because there's too much spaghetti code.
Wrong comparison image.
remember when he actually got a publisher to help him out, but then threw it all away because his shitty coding was completely redone by professionals and it pissed him off that people better than him were working on the game?
I don't know if left is ever coming out, but I know right is NEVER coming out
The porn of each character is pretty good, even if the right's name makes searching for it problematic.
You're kidding. He was put into a position where he'd essentially be a paid idea man with actual professionals executing his vision for him and he turned it down? The fuck is wrong with him?
First thing i see is that he could use a logical hierarchy of like 5 if's total instead of that mess, since insanity takes priority over murder takes priority over blood, and thus it can be simplified into
>If (A)
>>Do XtypeA and exit
>Else if (B)
>>Do XtypeB and exit
>Else if (C)
etc. etc.
I don't understand why there were like 5 versions, though, especially when the latest one took out saving your friends.
Throw escapes were added in later installments of Guilty Gear (Accent Core, to be specific). The aerial throws aren't command grabs, but I've never ever, in my whole life of playing Guilty Gear, have ever seen someone get spammed with the air throw. You have to be pretty close for air throws to work (depends on the character), but YanDev keeps spamming the HS (Heavy Slash, or the heavy attack button), which has 7 frames of start up. Literally all he had to do was either
>Not jumping forward after it failed the first two times
>Not spam
>Use quicker attacks
>Use attacks with longer range
>Condition his opponent into thinking that he will always try to jump (which he did, admittedly) and then bait is opponent into jumping and then do whatever
>Not spam the jumping axe kick
I'm not even a good player, too. All you need to basic thinking skills to realize that doing the same thing over and over won't yield different results. YanDev is just that much of an idiot.
>even if the right's name makes searching for it problematic.
But the game IS porn!
When the fuck is the nest Revenge update? Goddamn I just want more animations and pregnancy added
It's like every month
It's a meme.
Sure, the code is kind of hacky and he makes hard coded string comparisons, but it looks like all he's doing is updating some kind of label, nothing of importance. People who say he should use a switch case and enums are right, but also wrong. In the first place using Strings to represent multi-layered states is wrong. Also, the states clearly have a hierarchy: Insanity > Weapon > Blood. Based on that, he wouldn't need to build "and" querys, he can get the result by checking for the value with the highest place in the hierarchy.
His design is bad, but for a trivial thing like updating a label its a convenient thing to do.
If he ever wants to extend that functionality it's gonna bite him in the ass tho.
Basically he's using an if structure with strings when he should be at least using a switch structure with integer values instead. But that's just scratching the surface. In reality this code is so unfathomably shitty that it's hard to describe without some background info on programming itself. Because the game checks all of these things (And several hundred more conditions not pictured, the class pictured is nearly 5000 lines long) every single frame. For every NPC. That itself is lunacy, and makes the game run like shit even on good computers. But let's narrow in on one example to give context. The code pictured deals with body discovery, since YandereSim is kind of like Hitman with anime girls. Why check every NPC on the map to see if they've seen a body on every frame when you could just check only if there actually is a body on the map. What's more, you could also make it so that properly hidden bodies are only "visible" when their hiding places are entered, like a broom closet or toilet. There's a lot more you could do to trim this down obviously, but those are two big ones that I was able to think of while typing this post.
The guy who's been working on this game hasn't thought of that, and he's been working on it for 5 fucking years.
Who was the hero?
i just want to remind you all that the character on the right is literally based on a model from the unity asset store
