Same feel with mountain blade but have different gameplay

yeah from what I've seen and from what I've heard from others that play it, it's pretty much mount and blade, but minus the "engaging" combat.

Enter the gungeon
Hotline Miami. At very least the first one.

I can't tell if it's indie or not, but fuck is it incredible.

Wow, Sekiro looks awful
I know reading is hard, but once again, OP said GOOD indie games
Depth was probably the best multiplayer shooter made by indies. Too bad they went on to make some shitty BR that relied on reused assets.
Yes. It's not perfect but its extremely good for an autism project.
you know it
that wouldn't disqualify it, they still self-published.
Oh no, the Kickstarter is actually the part that made it seem independent to me. They've just been making games for 17 years, so I wasn't sure if they were indie the whole time.
>(You) did great!
It's more like one of those survival games where you start out naked and craft shit/build a place to live/try not to get raped than M&B but yea, it's pretty good.
Lobotomy Corp
Minimum 20 hours of gameplay needed before you have a grasp on what the fuck is going on. Oh yeah and don't try and play the game inan RP way. The only way to win really is to min-max the shit out of everything to save time and lives.
not true
Outward is pretty fun.
I ended up playing Freedom Planet in the Sonic Mania hype season and ended up liking it more than Sonic Mania
>extremely shallow battle system that only serves as a vector for more text
>goofy flash animated enemy battle sprites
>pointless equipment system
>shit graphics
But this is always the first post in these threads.
Project Zomboid. It's been in dev for half a decade but it's got a small dedicated team that's actually been fleshing it out and putting in stuff people have asked for. Very strong mod support. It's one of my maximum comfy games I occasionally shill for free.
the 20 hours to grasp it seems about right. min maxing to win is wrong. you can totally get by with subpars shit but you need to know what your doing.

i don't see how he could build off the first game, considering each ending doesn't hint towards any sequel
that also implies the second game's protagonist will remain iji, rather than a different person

Does this game get better? It feels like Dark Souls except really janky, which isn't good when you die in a handful of hits.
Well then this game is for you considering the campaign is absolutely fun and multi is just an added feature
Yes and no.
These people saying its like M&B are bullshitting you. The game is nothing alike. Firstly, the developer abandoned the game. He called it 1.0 and released it but entire features are missing, massive areas of the map are vacant and the game files are filled with content that he never properly released. You will notice that the game feels half done and that basic shit is missing. Particularly in the area of factions, they are fairly static and non-interesting unlike M&B which can be very dynamic and change between peoples games.
The gameplay loop is nearly identical for everyone. It starts with you having nothing and making money either trading or looting battles. You level up by fighting and usually losing those fights. You'll slowly build up more and more people in your party until you have enough money to buy a house. You might do a few bounty hunt missions here and there for extra money. You'll now spend your time researching techs and gather supplies for those techs in order to unlock what you need to build a base. Then you'll go off and build a base, where you build it has some basic variation in what enemies attack you but you really wont care because you'll be using turrets to kill the enemies and you'll rarely lose.
Thats basically it, there are some other bits and pieces but overall the game is the same each run.
Hollow Knight
i have a feeling that the dev who showed off the 2nd one is taking his time because people didn't like the textures and now he's just taking way to much time. I mean we can mod it to make it like 1 but man do i feel bad that i also don't like the textures
Me too bud, I feel like suffering Mandela effect, but really it was cus I wasn't paying attention to it.
Wasted is unironically a solid 8/10
store.steampowered.com
Dungeon crawler that parodies Fallout 3 (but with better controls and shooting)
Go into dungeons with the goal of getting to the bottom, gathering armor and ammo and guns and melee along the way
Every so often you get to the bar which lets you drink a beer from a selection, some good and some bad, but whenever you drink a beer you get teleported out of the dungeon (which is good if you are low on supplies and want to get out but that might mean you have to take a shitty perk that hampers you to get out safely with all your shit)
Getting to the bottom of the dungeon is a boss fight and rewards you with an upgrade to your house
The first boss of the game is a parody of Revolver Ocelot
No, Kenshi is fucking garbage. It barely has any content, is very poorly optimized and the map is mostly empty cause the greedy kike dev chose to say "fuck it" and release the game in an alpha state.
well this a dumb thread, because none are good!
still pretty enjoyable and wasted a good amount on time on it.

It gets better when you actually learn how to play the game. Fun but it's definitely lacking in a lot of areas.
wait, do people actually restart runs without importing characters? that's fucking retarded
also
>not just having a 3 man + garru mining team in sho battai to fund literally whatever the fuck you want in the early game
breaks the game pretty much. Eventually you can load up anyone auto-hauling with so many robot limbs that they natty train like 48+ strength while idling
Out of ones not already mentioned? I sank a ton of hours into Star Traders: Frontiers for some reason, I think because there's a lot of aspects to the game and the devs are putting out constant little updates and communication twice a week sometimes. Even if I didn't enjoy the game, I still admire their enthusiasm and communication.
I recently picked up StarCrawlers to get some not-Etrian Odyssey fix on the PC, I've only played a few hours but it so far feels like fun. It's a little awkward navigating a grid based dungeon with free look on your mouse though, and some of the rooms feel cramped.
>all those missing legs
user what the fuck
>Tfw even on the lowest settings my computer loads kenshi too slowly so i get stutters when roaming the world
I really need to get an ssd
The game is about preparing yourself for your journeys and fights, and early on in the game, that means fighting stuff 1 on 1 as much as possible (which kinda stays true throughout but is much more important early on) and using traps. There's a little bit of a learning curve to realizing you're not all that combat capable early on. Try getting some tripwire traps with iron spikes and a couple disposable lanterns as they are easy to make. Bind that fucking throw lantern skill. It's amazing. The loading screens for every dungeon, cave, town, etc. is gonna stay constant, and if, after throwing lanterns into bandits' faces and leading trogs into a series of spike traps, you're still not digging it, then it's probably not your thing. You do get stronger though, and getting some skills helps a lot. But yeah, the combat is a little bit rough around the edges.
I love this game even though I suck shit at it
it's just the game, user
i'd fucking love to have 6 characters in six cities and be able to switch between them without ten seconds of loading between, but the game just isn't there and probably never will be
>runs on one core
You can only do so much.
You could run Kenshi on a super computer and it would still run like ass. It has nothing to do with your settings, but with the fact that the devs are scamming retards who don't know how to make a game.
I don't think so. Derek Yu almost always takes his sweet time with his releases. He's also working on another game at the same time. It's gonna be like those old anthology game cartridges with a ton of small games on it you know, the one that had shit like Balloon Fight and Popeye.

>ssethtzeentach autismo shit
how many Might & Magic games did you try to play before u bought your first anime fuck pillow
Two had a couple great moments.
Underrated game and soundtrack for sure.
not really, it's boring as fuck with very little payoff and there are so many basic features that aren't in the game but clearly should've been put in immediately that will now never and CAN'T be put in because the inner workings of the game are like a tangled ball of barbed wire - a lot of shit that would work great as a mod simply won't work because the game just doesn't have the capability for it
Does this even count as indie when it's published by Deep Silver?
No, it doesn't. Neither do games like Enter The Gungeon which also has a publisher.
kenshis still fun despite all that. all thats youve said is valid but its a fuckin indie game. whats there could be better but its good enough.
it call indie dev not indie publisher fags.
That wouldn't matter, the criteria for an "independent" game is to not have a publisher funding it.
For example, if Bioware were to somehow free itself from EA and release a game, thatwould be an indie game.
>"independent" developer but they're under someone
Okay faggot.
indie just means small low budget, fag
I liked it

Thank god someone has some taste here.
Risk of Rain.
>game
For me it was a little game called alchemic dungeon for the 3ds. If you like rouge lite/like idk what the difference is lol
AAA is shit now and double AA takes ages to come out, Thankfully Indies have evolved to be (somewhat)better games now so i'm happy.
for me its TABS
I feel like I'm going nuts, but everytime I see this game, I feel nostalgic. Was this made with the Star Wars Galaxies engine? The animations, the world itself, the textures, etc. It's all super similar.
I just realized that RimWorld hasn't been mentioned yet.
Unironically fuck off and stop trying to change the meaning of words to make them easier for you to use.
Nobody has mentioned it yet?
Darkwood.
rouge lite usually means that you still get to keep something after you die
the meanings of words change all the fucking time, seethe harder retard
It is nothing like mb
It's a work simulator and you don't directly control the actions of your character.
I like mb rimworld and dwarf fortress but hated kenshi
The last good indie game was the original Doom.
Freedom Planet
>ou don't directly control the actions of your character
but you do
Tales of Maj'Eyal
The OP literally says "indie game"
an indie game has no publisher, as in, it is independent of publishers, that is what the word means
Commit warcrimes and get paid for it. Comes with a campaign that teaches you how to play. Wide selection of weapons, pilots, mechs, agravs, and tanks to unlock for free play. Has synthwave sound track if that's your sort of thing.
Clicking on things isnt direct control, sperg.
>you don't directly control the actions of your character.
What? I don't think we played the same game. You can automate and directly control any character in your group.
How do I build good in this fuckin game?
Alch is OP but I I dont care for the gameplay, I like Warrior but get absolutely demolished in the mountain area
I think you don't understand what direct control means.
ah i guess only "press a for bing bing wahoo" is direct control huh?
Hoo boy am I retarded, the game is Brigador
spoken like a true postmodern faggot
Crosscode
A man of exquisite taste here.
Save it for last from all tier 2 zones to clear. Clear all the starter zones. ALL OF THEM. Do not skip to the end of the dungeon if you're prompted to by the game. You need to hoard up all the Cold res and Health gear. Be extremely cautious. Don't use phase door, teleportation as your saving runes, 800% movement speed infusion is a much safer bet in Daikara. As a warrior archetype get that "armor hardness" passive to the max, you want to get the most out of damage diminishing capabilites your armor can provide.
r8
As much as I tried to like this game I just couldn't get into it because of gameplay's balance strongly tipped into puzzle aspect rather than RPG. No matter what build and gear set you run the puzzle part of gameplay comes first. Even the most basic mook monster has you do its gimmick first before you can actually effectively damage it. And when you can damage it the build barely matters as in their vulnerable states the monsters are decimated by practically sneezing at them. The amount of puzzles in the game is also too much for me. Not that I don't like spatial puzzles in the vein of Zelda and Golden Sun (on the contrary I like them) but there were just too many of them present. By the time I got done with the first temple in one sit I was so goddamn exhausted that I lost all will to play further that day. And as it turned out any other day too. A shame though because I really liked the genuine MMO-feel, controls and visuals of the game.
One sec.
But google image search gives the name of the game immediately.
Oxenfree. Maximum comfy at some points, eerie at others. worth my 5 bucks
Haven't played berserker much but I find resistances and armor hardiness a tad bit too low. Unless you run fucking crazy regeneration rate for the duration of all the fights you're gonna get burst down real hard soon. Health amount is great though. You also lack an "oh shit" rune/infusion that'd let you get the fuck outta tight spot. I'd swap Healing infusion for a movement boost one. And definitely get an extra infusion slot instead of uprading a category next. You still have a fair share of easy content to do though so you still have space to close up those weak spots. If you haven't done Old Forest yet go there, it's a good source of exp and gear and is the easiest of all tier 2 zones. Beware though of the underwater Fortress Ruins boss as he's one of the hardest encounters from tier 2 content, despite him laying wait in the easiest t2 zone.
I'd rather play Hyper Sonic Xtreme on ps2 tbqh

Cant believe people eat that shit with a smile just cause sudas names on it.
I mean, you aren't technically entirely wrong, but an Indie game implies it that isn't made by either a huge developer, or a company attatched to a permanent developer, and is made with a small team which is either funded right out of the makera pocket, or by means like Kickstarter. Like Pokémon is technically made by Gamefreak and not Nintendo, but Gamefreak is still owned by Nintendo. Games like Shovel Knight and OFF are both indie games, but Shovel Knight had significantly more funding thanks to Kickstarter. Of course while this isn't always the case, it still counts as an indie game, making your definition false by way of logic.
I fucking love this image

its not
I think SWG's engine was proprietary and I don't think anything else has ever been done with it. I think it's just that janky early-00s unpolished 3d look. I like it too.
Indie is short for independent
as it developed and published interdependently
Kenshi is fun but I have absolutely zero regrets about pirating it, it's so shittily made
How's the newer stuff been? Don't think I've played since Lawson got out of beta since performance somehow tanked harder in 4.0, or whatever update that was.
Greatest indie game of all time pretty much, definitely of the last few years
Rimworld
Poor dev got fucked by his own publisher
Every new enemy makes the game more interesting and keeps you on your toes. The clues turning red when there's some other fag looking at them helps keep the faggoty campers from being happy while they cry and bitch about how "casualization" is killing the game despite the fact their gay playing habits are what makes new players stop playing.
Zeroranger is a fun game

The game was able for purchase long before sseth made his "review" though, but yeah a lot of casuls bought it only because of him. It really shows that some people on Yea Forums really are NPCs that let their opinion get influenced by outer forces of faggotry
Oh, what happened? I played Axiom Verge a long time ago, didn't even know the dev got a publisher.

Something about them stealing money
>The clues turning red when there's some other fag looking at them
Wait, u wot? Does that just mean that i'll glow red if it's simply in someone else's cone of vision or do they need to be more or less looking directly at it? Sounds like it might be nice, although I didn't mind having to worry about campers since Hunt seems to have significantly fewer than Tarkov, which I also play. How's the weapon balance now? I mostly just remember using the Sparks, Winny, Nagant Officer, Uppercut, and Caldwell Rival. I saw something about a bomb lance which sounds cool as fuck.
CrossCode was way better than I thought it would be
I really appreciated that you could make prompted choices outside of locked cutscenes, within normal gameplay.
Stephen's Sausage Roll, the best game of this generation.
>What's her name, Yea Forums?
I've had the distinct luck and priviledge to play a lot of actually good indie games:
Darkwood, Deep Rock Galactic, Don't Starve, Darkest Dungeon, Risk of Rain, Terraria, and Spelunky, just to name a few. Actually thinking about it, I've probably played and enjoyed more Indie Games than... Whatever the opposite is? Big Dev Games?
As we live and breath my current 'favorite' indie title has got to be Deep Rock Galactic though.
I fuckin' LOVE Deep Rock Galactic.
A hat in time. And also, LISA.
>Does that just mean that i'll glow red if it's simply in someone else's cone of vision or do they need to be more or less looking directly at it?
It's some kind of proximity based shenanigans I'm not 100% sure on the details but clues light up when other hunters are nearby -and- looking in its direction. If they're far away it won't activate.
>How's the weapon balance now?
The bolt action rifle has been supplanted by shotguns which have much tighter cones of fire now than before, to the point where people bitch about them being OP. The Mosin Nagant Avtomat is still the king though, mostly.
>I saw something about a bomb lance which sounds cool as fuck.
It's hot. Real hot. Too hot.
Should I buy Kenshi for $30, or do you think it will drop price/be on sale soon?
Game looks like a lot of fun.
My computer is also shit, and idk if it'll run it properly. I can run M&B Warband, and Kenshi doesn't look too graphically intensive so it might be fine.
Damn, they really buffed the shotguns that much? They were already strong when I was playing. Oh well, guess it just means more Caldwell Rival + Uppercut in the bayou for me when I'm not running gu- bomblance, that is.
>It's hot. Real hot. Too hot.

That only applies if the IP is long dead and forgotten.

Many western Indie games are better then western AAA games.
Indie games allow devs to be creative and pursue what they want. For better or for worse.
AAA games always appeal to the masses and just look at the social media masses. In such industries corporate suits and marketing people having more influence then they should. Games are casualized. Anything that might hurt sales or cause controversy is removed.

it's ok but there's no difficulty curve to speak of, no way to intuitive work your way up to power

So Nintendo, EA and Ubisoft games count too?
ATOM RPG designed by an RPGCodex poster

I really wanted to like lobotomy Corp, but it just feels so bland at the start
are you retarded, self-published means the developer publishes the game themselves
big companies have their own publishing division, they are completely separate entities, like it wouldn't be surprising for valve to complete split steam into it's own company
does the game not have sound
Lethal League Blaze was a shitload of fun. I remember all the lobbies hosted here on release.
Was going to post this. Fantastic game. Recently reinstalled it. Never played with mods before so pimped it out a bit with a few mods like Nexerelin.
Really wish this game got more love. There's so much potential here. Wish it got updated more often though.
>designed by an RPGCodex poster
That's some autism I can get behind. Thanks user, will check it out.
>self-published means the developer publishes the game themselves
So they do count then. Those companies develop and publish their own games.
>they are completely separate entities
Objectively false, you moron. Doing different jobs doesn't make them not part of the company. They are all equally EA/Nintendo/Ubisoft employees, they only do different tasks. Just like the guy(s) at Larian responsible for distribution or accounting is probably not some code monkey who made your +5 longsword of magic. Fucking retard.
Moonlighter
Go play it. It’s amazing. I should too.
Furi was great. I'm worried it might be their one-hit wonder, but I haven't played their other games yet.
Ash of Gods is RPGCodex autism too but less autistic
Honestly I just read the forums and see what games have developers posting in the threads desu. Posting on Codex is an automatic seal of approval.

They look like shit at first glance but the gameplay is amazing, probably one of the few indie games where I've spent hundred of hours playing and re-playing them over the years.

Saw this a while back but didn't think much of it, looked a bit like Banner Saga which I still need to play properly.
I'm so bad at this game. I never managed to beat the first boss. I think I just suck at anything bullet hell related.
It's good user. Way better than Banner Saga.
Reminds me of Warsow visually. I should replay Warsow, it was fun.
Already deeper than every DQ, FF, and SMT
>Not world of padman
Step it up.
It's basically de_rats: the game
I fucking loved Banner Saga's story and characters (in ep1 at least, 2 and 3 are shit) but the gameplay was abysmal. The turn system that's made to always put the player at a disadvantage and the armor break system are just not fun. Is this game any better?
The clunkyness of the combat is overstated but it lacks content and has awful balancing which kills the difficulty. Wait for patches and a sale.
Excellence isn't an art, it's pure habit
We are what we repeatedly do
Yeh boi
Sonny
just kidding
I played 1 and 2 back to back. 2 is infinitely worse. Story is difficult to follow, the levels are overlong, but the worst part is how generic the music is. 1 had top notch music.
Ma nigga
>Buy early access anime schoolgirl game
>It gets banned from Steam

I am disappointed.
I always wanted a true spiritual sequel to the classic Fallouts, and this is the one.
You can still access games you bought on steam that were removed from the store, though I'm not sure what happens if your computer dies or you accidentally delete the game from your library.
the loading screens aren't that bad. how often are you changing areas anyways? I like the claymore a lot because you can hit multiple enemies at once. I can take three guys out at once with it.

one-hit-kill katanas that solve the melee problem
Dual wielding
Technically not indie because of microsoft but wikipedia says
>An indie game is a video game that is most often created without the financial support of a publisher, although some games funded by a publisher are still considered independent.
