just like your mom lol

Eat my tits

I might play DQ11 when it comes out on switch and thats it.

I heard 5 is cool but arent they all incredibly similar?

Attached: 1458614494135.jpg (500x500, 52K)

Well have you considered
That maybe
You suck?

not much more than entries of other series are similar, go from 5 to 11 and you'll immediately notice how different the mechanics play out

It's ridiculous how far behind japan is in game design. Playing Yakuza and DQ last year reminded me of that

Curretnly playing it.
Its not bad, but holly fuck, when will it end? Its way too long for its own good.

Attached: puffpuff.jpg (2560x1440, 1.28M)

The generic fantasy setting and story seem far more repetitive than SMT or FF

I hear 8's great but from the little ive seen it seems to play out the same as 11 Is it worth playing it or should I just stop posting?

The post game is actually another full act and can't be skipped for the proper ending.
The only valid reasons for disliking DQ are you hate toriyamas art style or the music.

the erdrick trilogy is kino as fuck

you cant be serious...

Dragon Quest III is probably the best JRPG ever made. And that's not hyperbole, I've played a ton in the genre and very few games are as mechanically and structurally solid as Dragon Quest III. It does everything right

That other user is pretty full of shit, DQ games all play remarkably similar which is something of the point. It’s japanese RPG comfort food, with little changes and additions more flavoring than grand restructuring. Compare DQ to FF for example and see how those series have changed over time.

5,8,11 all fantastic games, 8 pulled me in almost immediately

Because they like that feeling of adventure

your mom sucks

I can and am. I dropped draconian when I found out since it already rewards you the emblem for them

>The only valid reasons for disliking DQ are you hate toriyamas art style or the music.
Or if you dislike the shallow gameplay.

It's one of the most prominent and long running RPG series in existence much like Final Fantasy, a lot of people grew up playing it and it continues to draw new players in.

It's a bad series overall but it was the first of its kind and there was very heavy marketing which made it iconic.

Dragon quest is the most generic trash with shit gameplay, toriyama's art style sucks, and the music is absolute garbage.

Because Dragon Quest is pure SOUL.

probably just nostalgia
they grew up with this stuff

just beat this faggot, how far am i in?

Japanese boomers

This is the pinnacle of music creation. If you don't like listening to the exact same track in every single village endlessly on repeat then you're an absolute RETARD

Who thought a complete MIDI soundtrack for a game that looks like DQXI was a good idea?

Oh my fucking god I'm going crazy

Visuals - garbage, akira toriyama is terrible
Music - double garbage, grating and mindnumbing
Gameplay - turned based grindfest somehow still existing, the japanese are mentally ill
Story - silent protagonist somehow still existing, fuck all this
There isn't a single redeeming quality to these games

FF changes a lot more than most series but between random encounters in 5, the forge in 11, monster recruitment in 5, the skill grid in 11, the tighter money and inventory space management in 5, and the way the stories play out in each game, you end up spending most of your time thinking about different aspects of the same basic system. SMT is a funny comparison because you mostly just need to think about demon fusion in every game but it's another good series all the same.

You're close to the end.

DQ11 was fine, just wish it was more difficult.

Yep, you're not even 2/3rds of the way through. Maybe 1/2.

Fortunately DQXIS has orchestrated music,

Cope harder resetranny, back to your discord.

>
>You're close to the end.
I don't think that's true. Been a few months since I played, but I think he's like halfway.

Only for switch though. That shit should be a mandatory update for all versions desu.

You can finish the regular story and get credits fairly soon.
But as this user
pointed out there's still more to do if you want in post game with different big boss.

A lot of people don't like post game but I enjoy the grind and getting all the best weapons and gear to fight big boss

The third act is 100% skippable. I'd actually recommend just pretending it doesn't exist because of how abdly it fucks up everyone's characterization.

This is a fucking meme.
They're only as similar as most game series are. DQ1 and 11 are about as divorced as DMC1 and 5. The foundation remains and old sfx and visual motifs are around, but the systems have been iterated upon and changed dramatically.

You suck fucking jew

Everyone bitches non-stop about exclusives yet I never hear any complaints about ports having exclusive CONTENT which in my opinion is way worse.

>Shallow
"I never played the old games and I definitely didn't play XI on Stronger Monsters."
It's no Wizardry, but there's plenty going on under the hood.

Is this another Smash tranny thread?

Outside of Stronger Monsters, are there any other recommended Hard Mode options that should be turned on for DQ XI?

They disagree with you.

Elaborate

>no collectors editions announced yet for the switch version

Attached: 1555379990777.png (682x503, 636K)

I know, it's fucked up. I don't want to double dip on this just for the exclusive content.

We need more long games, fuck off

No exp from weaker monsters
Stronger Monsters is definitely not easy though, it's just a lot better than it being the cakewalk it would be otherwise

Not unless you wanna, and unfortunately the first boss or two isn't balanced quite right. The exp caps help you know if the devs think you're cheesing or not, and shypox is just a goof. My mistake was doing SM and No Fleeing together.

what the is up with her left arm that is some horrible deformation

Fleeing never seemed to work for me with only stronger monsters on anyway.

dragon quest is alright but i don't like the whole dragon ball aesthetic that one has. dragon ball sucks

>Jarpigs
>Games
?? Have you zoomer faggots never played a real game, like Dodonpachi?

Yeah fleeing seemed impossible, idk if it's based on the deftness of your lead character or the average deftness of your front line or what

americans mocking japan when they have and are obsessed with
>MK jankiest fighting game ever made just gorefest
>Fallout 2005 engine with a gazillion of bugs each new game
>GTA literall murder and robbery simulator
>minecraft enough said

We can say that DQ is UNSKIPPABLE.

lmao no you won't. the battlw system has changed very little. you're obviously a newfag to the series so kindly do not post.

It's the definition of style and no substance. Easy difficulty, easy to follow along story, you have to remember that the main demographics for this game are kids.

They are all actually different game, but the feel is always the same. You always have to stop some Demon Lord by collecting a bunch of mcguffins and getting a fancy sword. Actually, the comparison I'd make is to Zelda where every game is different but also the same.

choosing actions immediately before each character acts, rather than at the start of the turn, on its own causes a big change to how you think during combat

>games are famous for being extremely simple and straight-forward on purpose but with fleshed out, charming, clever world-building, NPCs, monster-designs and under-the-hood gameplay
>"style over substance"

it's literally the opposite lmao

None of them. Strong Monsters by itself is perfect.

I haven't played DQ in a while, but the game put me to sleep, it had the easiest fucking combat ever and I'm not sure you're really telling the truth on the worldbuilding aspect. I know the charm is there due to the aesthetics and NPC dialogues but the rest... nah.

Cope.

no it doesn't. the battles play out 100% the same way based on stat priorities. there's literally no change.

Yup, you were lying alright.

>it had the easiest fucking combat ever
it's as difficult as you want it to be

>you're obviously a newfag to the series so kindly do not post.

I can't believe people unironically say shit like this

Seething.

It has its troubles but it is still an NES game that beats a lot of shit that came after it.
I played it just very recently (2013), but I was thoroughly immersed, like, going to The Americas for the first on that game is quite an experience, there is some real anxiety, going across the ocean, not knowing what is on the other side, where are the towns, it was nice.

for example in dq11 you don't ever need to worry about the situation where you preemptively queue up a heal, but the enemy doesn't swing and so some of the heal is wasted

>I'm not sure you're really telling the truth on the worldbuilding aspect

nigga the series became famous and a phenomenon because of the world-building from dq 1 to 3, what are you even smoking?

>t. retarded cuck

Not him, I agree with you completely, I finished DQ3 three weeks ago and I played Chrono Trigger, FF6 etc before it

And Dante always has to stop a big ascendant demon and gets impaled.
Sequels tend to be like this.

Stay delusional.

Cope harder.

Stay mad.

>Short enough to replay.
>Tons of variation in builds.
>Nonlinear.
>Good flavor text you can skip on replay.
>Excellent pace and balance.
>Great soundtrack.

It's the template for a timeless RPG.

no no dumb dumb, she is of the Party Balloon race

It's fucking great you pleb.

Which game is this?

Friendly reminder that the best personality in DQIII is exclusive to female characters

user, please.

It's like watching monkeys throwing shit at each other

still more fun than dragon quest

I can't believe how triggered you are right now, all it took was a couple of copes and you liteally cannot stop replying, this is incredible

was listening to a 30 minute Corridors of Time vid on youtube, paused it to check out that shit. Jesus - my ears might as well be bleeding.

Stay owned, cuck.

No way fag.

I just came here to say this:
Your opinion - wrong

Attached: 49868FAA-55D8-41FE-9A46-F0C53A8E0C09.jpg (1024x956, 313K)

lol no they don't you faggot. Adding tension to the same shit with the exact same spells doesn't make them very different.

6-9 are nearly identical in gameplay.

5 is arguably different.

I haven't gotten to 11 yet but I imagine it's a lot like 8.

It is pretty good. I managed to beat half the game without a healer or spellcaster because I thought I'd get to change classes a lot sooner than I did. Luckily I raped everything so hard healing was hardly necessary.

Never been able to do that in other games. My retard choice would have meant death.

>tension
That doesn't even exist in 11. You just proved user's point.

Found the zoomer

Why fag? If you don't know what the fuck you're talking about then shut the fuck up and stop talking until you do.

DQ is not a game you can enjoy as a teen, unless you are a high IQ teen. In general, its something that you will either like as a child for being easy to get into RPGs or as an Adult since its such a polished and comfortable experience.
My recommendation is to play ten more years of meta and edgy sci-fantasy JRPGs and then give it another go.

Tension is 100% unneeded and useless. It changes nothing you faggot. You are really pulling at some thin fucking strings to make your point and anyone who doesn't suck DQ's dick is not going to buy it.

6-9 maybe, and the very early ones are from the 80s so they're basic like everything then, but like i said the turn system change matters, and there's also things like the skill grid and forge, "mechanics" is broader than just combat

Japan needs another two bombs

I'm not the same user you dipshit, I'm pointing out that you're calling them all the same while talking about a mechanic that hasn't been used in a fucking decade.

What is the skill description for Martina's hip attack? All it said in Japanese was "Big hips. Big damage." It was like the only skill that didn't tell you what it did.

Edgy

Japan likes Minecraft too. Like it or not it's a game that has universal appeal.

You mean Amazon, right? Oh wait, you obviously meant Sexy, which while it has the highest spread of stats, actually doesn't get you the best distribution for most classes and is more of a meme. Even if you were using a Sage, you don't want Sexy because all of your important stats will take too long to max, while the rest of your party is hitting for harder and surviving longer.

6 is just shitty proto 7, so yeah.
8's systems are nothing like 7's at all, ditching the job system for skill points, placing emphasis on coordinating weapon/personal skills instead of creating hyper specific archetypes, etc. They're only similar in that you pick actions from a menu and the names/functions of spells are the same, which applies to shit like FF.

Learn to read then faggot. I specifically said I hadn't played 11 yet.

You and me are enemies now.

do those really matter besides not having a godawful one that gives no mp or something
the game ends at level 35-40 iirc, if your stats are too low just kill two more metal babbles ot compensate and call it a day
even for xenlon I really can't see personalities beyond "not terrible" mattering all that much

>I specifically said I hadn't played 11 yet.
So?
You said the games are the same. They're not. You used something that left the series after 9 as an example of how it doesn't change.

No enemy. I said I'm willing to bet they are the same and in my mind I was thinking or similar. I never definitively said they are the same.

I know you're dead inside but surely you still understand the word imagine.

It matters if you go into the secret rape dungeon in the GBC version.

Everything you were crushing in the normal game will rape the shit out of you with your first step in that dungeon.

at least it has better party members then FF is doing atm

you suck

Just bought DQXI a couple days ago, never played one before but it's comfy as fuck, already one of my favorite recent RPG's.

Dragonquest isn't really a game in Japan, it's more of a lifestyle choice. Just a way for people to pass time, sitting alone at home, mashing X, just playing a bland inoffensive game before they can go to work again. It's just an polite way to squirrel away the short precious time you have on this earth and passively kill yourself.

OP BTFO
S

seek help user

Isn't that every game? Doing anything for fun is just slow suicide when you could spend that time working to make the world better.

dq11 was so bad its the first rpg ever that i played were i needed to hear music from other games because its own is so horrible it made me stop playing it several times

Regardless, you were wrong and surely see the irony in your assumption, right?

How good is Valiant?

>DQ XI is an 80+ hour long game
>basically only has three songs, overworld.mp3, battle.mp3, city.mp3 that play regardless of whether or not they fit the setting which ranges from Northern European Castles to Venetian Canals to Fortress Coliseums
>despite leading with "le Tokyo Orchestra" the songs are in MIDI, you have to mod in orchestral
>the songs themselves still fucking suck to the point of inducing migraines, even without listening to them 4-6 times in a row within a span of 15 fucking minutes because they're only 2-3 minutes long before loop

>HIGHLY POLISHED AND COMFORTABLE

This. Not only did it set the bar for rpgs, but it set it high. As an NES game it was fantastic, and as an snes game it was damn near perfect.

it really triggers my autism that the only lightning-based spells are equivalents to flare and ultima

Kinda wanted to give it a try, but it puts me off that they announced an exclusive special edition that the other platforms may or may not receive at some point.

XI's sound design is bad, yeah. That's the only problem I have with it.
Also I only hit the ruins of Dundrasil at 80 hours, you're really lowballing it.

More importantly, why is Japan obsessed with Bianca's daughter?

Elemental affinities are gay.

XI has become one of my favorite games of all time, it just feels really good to play. I'll play it again on Switch with japanese VO.

Is there any mod that replaces the soundtrack with music from a different DQ game entirely?

Is the soundtrack really that bad - even with the orchestral mod?
I don't mind something on the blander side, but it's another matter if it really gets that grating.

There was not a single political talking point to be had! Unbelievable!

Have sex.

A .45 in your head first.

No I won't suck your dick.

A .45, shouldn't be too hard.

It's terrible, it sounds like circus clown music and plays over everything.

Thanks Phil, but please explain.

Did it really take after DQVIII even to the point of the female getting possessed and you fighting her?

The compositions are pretty poor compared to Sugiyama's past works, and there is little variation. Most people consider the overworld theme to be the worst offender, it's pretty irritating and is also a massive tonal shift from the usual overworld themes you get in DQ games

I guess not much blood fits into something that small.

Meant to reply to Also just to be fair, here's the midi version of DQVIII overworld.
youtube.com/watch?v=oxnp-XH34ho

You'll suck it anyways, slut, you seem obsessed with it. Oh and I'm really rough with my sluts, I like to see them in tears begging.

DON'T spend more than $5 on it. i pirated it and it was THE MOST run of the mill, by the numbers jrpg i have ever played. absolute waste of disk space. not fun at all!

What exactly is shallow about the gameplay? Its even a lot harder then most jrpgs

Attached: 1555434336551.jpg (261x193, 12K)

He needs lots of explosions and effects on the screen to keep him entertained

Calling other people enemy come on user stop being a faggot

>Stronger Monsters
>no fleeing
>no weak enemy exp
Makes the game from a cakewalk to legit challenging especially when you can't grind your way out
