I considered doing that but people say that's too easy. bt/skill is supposedly not as OP and fun. Arc/skill and bt/str don't have any viable weapons until endgame with the exception of blades of mercy, which I've also considered.

well you just need the skill requierment and 40 BT, the chikage will dish out decent damage as it's tricked form is mainly (if not only i'm not sure) BT damage so it can carries you through the game and to the dlc to acquire the weapon
once you get the Bloodletter you can only use the tricked form but I like raising strenght as the untricked mace form is decent and well rounded and I can parry on the fly with my gun

No it can't, the celestial weapons have damage scaling with HP/MP so they always do more damage than a custom weapon even if the custom one has the same abilities.

The weapon is literally made for that, I think I can count in one hand the amount of people I've fought who used both modes. The blood mode has a perfect moveset and it costs a significant amount of health to transform unless you hit someone with the transform attack so it's not untricked often
It's extremely good in its mace form, much better than the Tonitrus. With a heavy abyssal and 2 27% gems it does massive damage, has hyper armor on the r2, and attacks super quick. The only drawback is the range. It's an extremely underrated weapon and it only takes 50 str and 16 blt to make the most out of it.
