I'm expecting it to be middle of the road. The formula is stale but I don't think it's a rotten design, I'm just tired of it.
I've come to think that Gamefreak can nail neat monsters but I basically don't care about every other aspect in the GF games that surround them. I'm tired of being bogged down by everything just to get the pokemon that barely shine in the games they are in. It's probably why I enjoy the Mystery Dungeon games so much, it still maintains a collecting aspect but the pokemon themselves are the characters.

Pokemon is trash, always has been. The gameplay is clunky (in terms of responsiveness and interface) and braindead. Setting, story, and visuals are consistently mediocre. Only thing propping this franchise up is nostalgia.

After the unplayable mess that was Alola, I'm definitely worried.
I don't want to be stopped every time I enter a new location or be given free shit by my rival (whom I bet won't even be called that anymore thanks to LGPE). Gamefreak still hasn't quite worked out how cutscenes should be handled and it shows.
Not to mention i don't expect much in terms of post game outside of the usual battle building

Theres nothing wrong with the models themselves user. The models are actually very high quality. The problems come from the shitty poses and animations they have the models do. Also the colors were very washed out on the 3ds games.
Honestly I would be actually fine with all that bulkshit if they gave you an actual postgame.
If they made USUM as is, but instead of LBGT rocket they gave you a new island were you can catch rare mons and a challenge good battle facility I would be with fine with it.
Ideally for me in SS, they would make it so that you can only catch new gen mons or atleast make it so that older gen mons are somewhat rare while the new mons are front and center.
After you beat the maingame you unlock a reasonably big new area akin to the battle resort/kanto in GS/sevii islands.
In that new area there is a challenging battle frontierlike facility and there are multiple new routes and areas where you can catch tons of older mons for the battle facility.
They can keep it as handholdy and riddled with cutscenes like SM, but instead of that just being the whole game, the maingame can be a glorified tutorial where you can try out what the new mons have to offer to you.
Kids, shitters and journalist can breeze through that shit and quit after beating the E4, while manchildren like me can continue on and satisfy their autism by catching and training older mons that you want to use for the postgame facilities together with the new mons you experimented with in the maingame.
Maybe add some high level trainers and a daycare for EZ grinding and breeding and I would be golden.
I thought the battle pyramid was really fun and I am bummed they never did more or improved on that.
I will buy this because I want to look at Shield-chan's legs and hopefully dress her up on a cute Pokemon adventure.
I just want it to not be annoyingly lighthearted at times and with some difficulty. For difficulty I mean trainers with a strategy in mind and coverage moves, not just overleveled pokémon with strong moves. And for the love of god easily obtainable TMs PLEASE.

I honestly think that it is fine for TNs to be harder to find.
Unlike in the older gebs you coukd only use TMs once and you could only get 1 for a lot of them.
So it was fine to a certain extend to give EQ, flamethrower, T-bolt and icebeam before the 7th gym.
But now that you can reuse them as much as you want you can give your entire team the moves I just mentioned with no drawback whstsoever.
The game is already easy as is, but that would break it even further.
So I think it's fine for TMs to be a bit harder to come by.
Yeah, I get you, but it makes some Pokémon almost useless for the main run because you can't teach them good moves. I remember the terror that was using an Alolan Sandslash in Sun and Moon.

Pokemon following you is pretty lame. It adds nothing to the game mechanically and there's no reason for it in the context of the game either. In the anime Pikachu stays out his ball because he prefers it, and in Yellow Pikachu followed you because it was trying to be closer to the anime. It doesn't make sense in any of the other games it appears in (just HG/SS iirc)
It was cute and fun in HG/SS, they did it for 150 pokemons in Let's Go, they have the 3d models if every pokemon, it would take some work but it could be done.
