If you timed it right, you could basically get it so that the director ties up all of its available resources on the other 3 saps while you charge headlong through an almost empty level. All depends on whether the level is setup in such a way that there's an uninterrupted line between start and finish though.

I saw it occasionally, but it was always the outlier and they tended to get fucked because they got mobbed while they were half a mile away from the rest of us and had to sit and wait while we finished the map or rescued them.

it seems like a really bad setting. valve is all about reusing assets like models, textures and such and to go for a middle eastern setting seems like a really bad idea that would lead to a bland environment.

Maybe one of the cast is a pilot, or they travel through boat, or it's a more fast paced kind of plot. I wouldn't mind it. It's also an excuse to have more varied maps.
