not OP but I actually own both a wii u and switch. Wii U has significantly more and overall better features than the switch: internet browser, netflix, accurate playtime tracking, menu music and better eshop, tv remote, ability to play handheld without having to grab something out a dock. That said, the Wii U OS is also horrendously slow, especially compared to the Switch's lighting speed boot and game launch times by comparison. Also, most of the best Wii U games have since been ported to the Switch (albeit at a huge markup in price)

Wii U is also god-tier for hacking/piracy, since you're able to literally download straight from the eshop servers, as well as install various game mods/hacks and it's incredibly easy to do. You can play almost anything from NES, SNES, GBA, N64, GCN, Wii, and even DS.

It had a small very dedicated cult following, but it was very far from being liked. The majority here shat on it hard, even those that went there for the mechs. The only consistent praise it got was from its own general threads.

2014 was the wii u's only good year though. It's 2015 onwards when nobody defended it

I actually haven't since I kinda gave up on Pokemon after seeing what they did to Hoenn in ORAS.
But I heard SM have an insane amount of unskippable cutscenes in them that barely move the plot along.

Not if you don't have something to plug the CONSOLE PART into for power. WiiU didn't have completely free handheld play. Can't play it on an airplane? Then I don't give a shit.

I've had one since launch and I've enjoyed my time with it. Now it's hacked and is my go-to Gamecube Player/Emulation box

Fans of the Xeno series didn't shit on it at all and the threads saw a lot of discussion when they weren't being invaded by anti wii u posters.

wii u was a good console, that came out too soon and with the most retarded name possible.
unironically, 'normies' didn't know it's a different console from the standard wii. they thought it's like ps4pro or xboxx and didn't want to buy it, because they thought it's a waste of money.

well yeah that's the obvious major advantage of the Switch, it's a true portable. Wii U gamepad is just over LAN

I use a wii as my gamecube player and VC as it can be plugged into a crt. The wii u is good for a couple of HD rereleases.

The wii u definitely had some great games, but the best thing about it and the reason I still have it is the virtual console. I didn't start playing video games until around 2003 so I missed out on lots of classics, and I don't like emulating so the wii u virtual console is very valuable

I agree. Switch is the biggest buyer's remorse I've felt in years. So many games are just ports of shit I've already played and I don't really even like its exclusives very much at all.

The Wii U felt like more of a modern console because it at least had side features. The fact that the Switch doesn't have a fucking internet browser two years after release is a complete joke.

There's only a handful of good games on the system. At least the Switch isn't region locked.
