Maximum comfy
I tried to find a picture of this particular zone (prt_fild04) but couldn't find it anywhere.
youtube.com
Spent many weeks farming for a Creamy Card here
Got a lof of slotted Silk Robes though, probably enough to sell to players and buy the creamy card but where's the fun in that?
youtube.com
Good times.
I've got a lot of favorite maps in Ragnarok Online but my favorite is probably the Yggdrasil Trunk / Hvergelmir's Fountain
Used to use this map to farm a lot of herbs to sell to alchemists back in early RO days. Or just use it as a secret hangout spot since it was pretty well hidden/hard to get to on foot.
>that feeling when a card dropped
it was amazing
did you ever get the creamy card?
RO Soundtrack never fails to amaze me, fuck

for some reason the thumbnail doesn't match the zone
Favourite track from the game
youtube.com
that name sounds familliar for some reason
Balmora, the city in Morrowind
Silverwood in Rift holds a special place in my heart as the place me and my friends goofed around for a few pleasant hours when we all decided to give the game a try together.

>mmo thread that isn't directly about wow
You done fucked up.
TERA deserved better

obligatory
Nothing will ever beat Pre-Searing Ascalon, though
now kiss
you god damn niggaroos
Guess I'll be the first to post from WoW.
Well we both missed the fact that it's literally the second post in this thread
I guess that despite the generic nature that inspired a lot of Korean MMOs later down the line, there was something different about Lineage 2, something pure. I attribute this shit to Richard Garriott
you were just younger
>tfw can't find the name of the track that plays around 1:13
youtube.com
Yeah but I hate Lineage 2 then and still hate now
nothings ever gonna beat Grizzly Hills
its technically a raid, but I love it so much. those long sensuous strings
posting ro/soundtemp is cheating
youtube.com
fuck leveling in the subway
godamn this theme was memory holed
same with temple of the three winds
ffxiv has a lot of problems but the sound track ain't one
youtube.com
I listen to this every now and then and it's like going home. Lineage 2 is the only MMO I've played that felt like getting sucked into another world.
it was always funny when you were making your way inside the temple only to have 50 mobs and a boss avalanching down the hallway as some solo guy tries to leave
thank you for obligatory track sir. big fan of these later ones
>three seconds in
>chest tightening
>2005
>"Can't wait to get home and play WoW!"
>2019
>"Can't wait to get home and go home!"
Port Oakes. Home.

More importantly the theme that plays at 1:10. Good old Dockside area.
This is the most SOULful track I've ever heard in a video game, the way the lads go mad with the piano in the second half pulls at my heartstrings

this is a cool vid about ffxi, travelling in this world was great. ro has a truly impressive soundtrack, really good work.
youtube.com
Its piano arragement is equaly good
youtube.com
It's going to be 20 years old next year.

The tavern music is always so comfy. Unironically full of soul.
They don't make the music like this anymore. Sad because the game was fairly fun as far as korean shit goes and some of the most fun I had in pvp in any mmo I played.
youtube.com
fuck you i was gonna post this
I am a retired ARK. We had a GM island where we could change our race, sex, face, etc. We even had a little prison which we would teleport offending players into if they wouldn't shut up. It was a legit little black prison cell on GM island with no way out. If you were teleported into it, that was basically your ban, we didn't turn your account off we just teleported the account's starting positions into that little room, it even had a tiny window you could see out of and see GM island. In 4 years, we only used it a handful of times but one time in particular, someone managed to get out and shoot up powers out of a vending machine that let us turn into reets and shit and ran amok in GM island for a few days.

I miss aion so much, it was grindy as fuck and kinda retarded but it had more soul that the shit's that alive now. Also the whole soundtrack is great.
>tfw you'll never experience vanilla SOA and MOM content even again
youtube.com
lol. i kinda wanna try the new 'restart' server they have but man, 15 bucks a month for whats basically a dead mmo is pretty steep.
I see you are a man of culture as well.
I want to have fun in MMO again.
I miss the golden age of mmos as well user
>Tfw no more comfy nights grinding and chatting with guildies
Any modern MMO's with open world farming and drops? I could grind for hours for the chance to find a rare drop, but the modern 'daily currency grind to buy gear' format does nothing for me
>Gath Agarwen and Great Barrows are ruined forever
youtube.com
I wish I knew how good we had it at the time, I took all that shit for granted
my lala gf theme
I want to go back...
ffxi and not going Zi'tah?

there's so much more than this, these are just some of my personal favorites though.
God just listening to these tracks makes me want to go back so fucking bad... but I already did several years ago and while it's still the same game at its core, it's completely different. People don't help each other out like they used to, and everyone's always looking for something that benefits them, even players that have like 10 ultimate weapons and shit already. You need mercs to accomplish pretty much any of the most difficult content in the game too, as getting a competent group together from strangers is nearly impossible.

This game has so much good music... and it never gets old.
Also there was this:

I intentionally don't look up what's going on with FFXI anymore. I got the game on NA release (which was Zilart expansion), played though Chain of Promathia and Treasures of Aht Urhgan.
Got BLM, SMN, BRD to 75 and notched ONE single Dynamis Lord kill. Finished Sky, never finished Sea.
I just... Level Synch changed the game enough. The way everyone used to be chill. You NEEDED to find groups, and you could only group with people within a 2 level spread, so your reputation among the player base mattered. Don't wanna look for group for an hour? Make sure people remember you as a great player and friendly person and you're way more likely to get quick groups.
The sheer camaraderie created by this game is unlike anything I've ever seen in a game before or since.
Zi-Tah is one of the best, it's just a shame there wasn't all that much to do in that zone except run through it to get to ro'maeve / tu'lia.
The only thing I ever spent any significant time doing there was farming moss from the gobbues, or trekking through it to get to the boyahda tree for an EXP party.
these days you can solo pretty much all story content, up to all the tales of rhaspody content which you might need help on 1 or 2 battles, as well as help on a few of the Seekers of Alduoin battles which can be somewhat tricky.
That said, when I say solo, I mean you play by yourself, but you create your own party using NPCs that you can summon called "trusts." You unlock these trusts by playing through the story missions, they're various NPCs and whatnot from the stories, you can essentially just create your own party using a WHM NPC, several DD npcs for skillchains, and a red mage, GEO or BRD NPC to buff you with songs / magic like haste.
Of course the high end content trusts are rather useless, but they work very well for just clearing all the story missions and whatnot. I agree about the camradre that it once created though, it's still kinda there. Not ALL players are bad, but the issue is the people still playing FFXI are dedicated and hardcore players who have already accomplished most of what the game has to offer, yet despite this it's very hard to get help doing any of the more difficult battles in the game for nothing in return as every player always wants something for themselves.
Last time I played, basically the main way to beat some of the toughest bosses in the game is to abuse SMN astral conduit using Nirvana (SMN mythic) with multiple smns just spamming bosses like warder of courage to death using blood pacts.
I'm not sure how much it's changed since I last played though, but in general if you wanted to beat Warder of Courage you would need to either a) find a competent group of players and decide who is going to lot on what items, and spend days farming everyone the pop item set or
b) pay a massive amount of gil to a group of merc players who would spawn it for you and kill it.
For some ultimate weapons, such as the Aonic ones, you have to literally clear a massive amount of NMs in the escha zones.
holy shit, even the music is turboweeb
Yeah... Last time I played we did the ToAU merc missions. Those were fucking AWESOME MMO features (Like the mini games.... "make your way through this maze", "find the fight NM among the fakes", "Free these prisoners somehow" kind of stuff).
We did a lot of HNM farming when we had a lot of people on in the LS, but besides that it was farming, level sub classes, camping rare NMs that we could still do with half a party. Fucking. pirate. cudgels. I don't think I'll ever have an MMO again when I spend hours chilling on a boat, chatting with friends about life, and killing pirates.
Classic WoW has some of the best world zones and dungeons ever made, but the sheer god damn _charm_ of FFXI, the mystery of its world (as exploration was difficult and extremely dangerous zones remained unexplored for most players), the discovery... the stories you walked away with...
EverQuest, FFXI, and Classic WoW are the three games responsible for my love of MMOs that no amount of modern zoomer trash titles will ever dent.
Back in the good old days when the actual world of MMO's held danger and mystery.
>tfw all the private servers are shit and iro is even more shit

Spent so long here just for the ost
The comfiest zone ever.
Cabal Online has some really good OST.
RIP
youtube.com
perfectly captures how fucking depressing this game's development was.
youtube.com
>zone in
>hear HART arriving in the distance
>mechanical doors swing open as i leave the spawn building
>hit surge as i head for the vehicle terminal
>get a magrider
>swing by the HART building to pick up my gunner
>head for the warpgate
>have hours and hours of fun
I miss it all so much
Man I forgot about that game
A damn shame what it became toward the end
Also the girls had fat asses
making me wanna reinstall
youtube.com
cabal online had THE best ost for a mmo. the amount of soul put into the music is fucking mind blowing
Because I assume The Barrens and Grizzly Hills has already been posted in the thread.
youtube.com
>that fucking solo at 2:24
Damn I forgot about Scholazar. Kino zone, amazing music.
youtube.com
whole song is literally just a crazy 4 min guitar solo.
How about this: post a song that fits the landscape
>that airship theme
fuck i want to go back it's not fair
man i miss this game
Just be happy it happened, remeber the good times
my fuckin heart
I wish my favorite niche mmo's were still around so I could take screenshots. Some of them were pretty comfy.
I wish GW never died so I could still play with all my friends like when we were teens instead of losing my soul here
