I get 45-50 FPS usually. Not optimal, but about perfectly playable.
At least it isn't 30.

Shaders run fine on most modern PCs

I got dips below 60 on a 1060. not fine for fucking Minecraft which runs at 90+ otherwise

I feel like you can never recapture the magic of your first real singleplayer "home making". I ran two screens and watched the entirety of Scrubs on one while comfily building my home, structures and the mines. When you start to get into mods... the one I remember most fondly was automatically growing forest. Trees would spawn saplings periodically and while I played the sparsely forested plains would turn into a forest. Burning it down...so much fun. This was all before Notch fucked up terrain generation so every world was boring as fuck. Never really played again after that.

check your rendering distance, aa and shadow size. it's not all about ram

I use fxaa 16 chunks and I didn't even look at the shadows. shaders look cheap compared to vanilla so I'm not going to sit there tweaking them to make them not run like aids

I wanted to like this. The building blocks and potential aren't complex enough though, they ditched most of the magic and supernatural concepts from early on, it has too many of Ark's WORST aspects and it would probably benefit from being more of an RPG with modding tools and a toolset in general that supports dialogues for people to make their own NWN style multiplayer servers or single player campaigns.

I prefer the moods/shaders that keep the textures simple but upgrade the water and lighting. The biggest issue is most of the water 'upgrades' can't into falling water.

If you want something that has a lot of stuff in it without getting overwhelming you could try Sevtech
It's got a progression system so that you need to move through items in a gated order instead of having everything thrown at you at once

It starts off in a cave and there's Lava to show the bloom effect, before the camera heads outside to show the world. It had one of the old Jukebox tracks playing as the music, Cat I think.
