not a sequel but in dragon's dogma, if you play offline on NG+, then the final boss is your previous character in NG.
If you're online it's a random character from another player.

Armored Core: For Answer. It's pretty kino, but in that From Soft Dark Souls way where if you don't know some names and places you won't catch on to what's happening. Hero from the last game gets a new mech based on his buddy's (who was the last boss of previous game due to forced villainy shit) and using its name. Party way through you get a mission to assault the neutral colony that he spent all last game protecting, and you are paired with the number 1 guy in the arena. Prior Protag totally BTFOs arena dude and he's a tough fight, but you take him down. Story doesn't make too much of it but you know in your heart that you killed righteous man. Also it turns out the arena guy faked his crash to become a terrorist under a new name. Unclear if he could've beaten Prior Protag if he wasn't trying to fake his death. Kinda takes the last great victory Prior Protag had once you learn arena man isn't actually dead :/.
