How many of these did you own?
Consoles
8
10
11
all of them, idiort.
>nintendo ds 150M
why do i have this feeling that its 100 % false?
12.
1, the Wii
Because you're clueless.
All but the Sony shit
7
Eclectic taste; a true Patrician.
I had a Sega Saturn
Played Sega Rally with my dad on it
All but i didnt buy a psp, gba, or 3ds til later
8
>past
Nigga, I still have most of them.
5, the last one i had died last month. Wish i could play my games on PS4 ffs, at least xbone you could play OG Xbox games
Ps2, ds, gbc, ps, wii, 360 ,gba, 2ds, nes,snes, 64
So 11
Everybody has a DS. The PSP at 80 million wasn't even close, even though that should have been seen as a great success. The 3DS can't even touch on that number, even though it was what got Nintendo through most of the decade and kicked Sony out of the market. Really some amazing stuff that Nintendo had back then, like the stars aligned or something.
I've owned them all except the NES/Famicom at some point.
4
I had no idea the SNES was so relatively unpopular.
6. Had all the top 3
This.
Always wished we owned a SNES or Mega Drive when I was younger.
8, although technically maybe 7 since i didn't actually own the 360. my brother bought it but had it setup in my room
will go up to 9 when the list is updated since the switch has probably outsold the N64 by now
2, PS3 and PS4
Everything except DS. I grew out of Pokemon by then and basically decided fuck handheld shit.
Later emulated some good games though
12
also, the DS figures include DS lite, DSi, and XL, so the figures will be slightly inflated since many people would have upgraded at some point
6. Was always a Sega guy and could only have 1 per gen as a kid, could never had a GB back then because "that's expensive, here's a Brick Game for Tetris"
There is also a point there was no need to get the old consoles because emulation.
>Top 15
Why not 10 or 20?
>PSP 80 million
That is fucking impressive
I got one for VF and Daytona. Even if the Saturn versions werent as good as arcade ones, it was great to play whenever you wanted
>ps2 sold twice the amount of ps3
Wtf, how? Gaming was still mostly a meme back then
Pretty much every console gets that treatment. Breaking apart the dozen PS2 models would certainly lead to an unimpressive statistic (although those were more similar). And the poor xbone might fall behind the n64.
DVD players were hotter than Blu-Ray players.
Nes
Gameboy
Sega Genesis
SNES
64
PS1
Saturn
Jaguar
Gameboy Color/Pocket
Dreamcast
PS2
Xbox
PC
PS4
My favorite growing up was the Sega Genesis, General Chaos, Shining Force 2, Phantasy Star 4, Streets of Rage 2, Predator 2 were my fav games. My PS 1 was special to me because I saved up and bought it myself along with a copy of MGS.
Also I inherited a ton of gaming shit a couple years ago that I have no idea what to do with.
DVD player, MGS2 and 3, Tekken,DMC, GoW, etc. Shit kept selling for 10 years even when the PS3 was around with games still being released like P4 in like 2008/09
A bootleg famicom and a PS1.
Went PC in 2004 and haven't had a console since
10
sure, but i don't know anyone who upgraded to the ps2 slim or whatever just for the sake of it. of course there'll be some, but the figure will be a lot higher for handhelds since they're cheaper and the upgrades are more noticeable - bigger screen, better battery etc
PS2 consoles were cheaper than most DVD players or at least around the same price at the time, I believe.
yeah for the first 2 years of it being on the market the ps2 was by far the cheapest dvd player
0
>consoles
It's more relevant for the PS3 where the original model was a complete dud. Anyway, it's not going to make the DS less impressive when virtually every other console have had multiple redesigns in similar or even more relevant ways.
0
Of those in the picture? All of them besides the Xboxes and 3DS.
I have owned every home console on that list but only a PSP of handhelds
>OG Xbox not even on the list
Did it really do that badly? I loved the shit out of my Xbox. Xbox Live was legit. I didn't even want a PS2 but I think Vice City was exclusive at the time and someone gave me one but then the piece of shit died on me.
The xbox line did not get off with a great start. They showed up at a time where the market was especially saturated by three big companies. Only after SEGA kicked the bucket, Nintendo aimed for a different audience, and Sony wasn't able to make a workable system was when they had a good opportunity in the market
And now that Sony has their game back on and Nintendo is feeling more comfortable with third parties, Xbox is feeling the heat again. They might be forced to drop out if this keeps going.
don't know about that, the ps3 original model didn't sell well at all because of its high price point and some other issues (shit online, no games), so for the vast majority the revised models were the first purchase
and agreed, the ds figures are impressive however you look at it, was just trying to refute a claim earlier in the thread that the 159m figure was fake
arguably the Wii and PS1 are most impressive as they are home consoles so for the most part were limited to 1 per household, and not until much later in their lifecycle did they get revised models
DS was fucking huge and so was every one of it's subsequent alterations
Really goes to show the power of actually having a fucking launch lineup
13
Didn't have a Wii, 360, or DS. I was married during that gen and working to finish paying the home (which she took in the divorce).
9
PS2 was so successful because it was one of the cheapest DVD players on the market featuring a function that will shut the kids up and entertain them during the day
PS3 fucked it up and lost it's gen because they tried to do the same thing with Blu-ray while forgetting the CHEAPER part.
>n64 only sold 33m units
How does this thing have a near cult-level status following?
Because Top15. Not even the Genesis is there
>Vice City
It was only few months PS2 exclusive, then got a PC release and Xbox got GTA Double Pack that was 3& VC with graphical updates and custom soundtracks
Xbox was alright. All that gen was full of exclusives, this counting the DC too
All of them.
Everything except WiiU and XBone
Nintendo has a consistent core demographic. It's not about how many people buy the system, just how memorable it was to those who did.
Even the Wii U had dedicated fans, and that didn't even sell half as well.
13
No PSone and Xbone
>Famicon
Fucking retards, I swear to God.
Gameboy
Gameboy color
PlayStation
N64
PS2
Gamecube
Nintendo DS
PS3
PS4
Why do you want to know OP?
All but PS2 and XBone.
The PSP did much better than I thought. Why was it perceived as a failure?
I think the PSP sold a ton in Japan because of Monster Hunter but then the series moved to Nintendo handhelds so the PSP sales fell off a cliff in the later years
I just pulled this out of my ass though so maybe I'm wrong
Modern games were invented on it, it's understated how far ahead of the game Nintendo was in terms of how to put together a 3D game.
because ds, back in the day before mobile smartphone gaming every kids have ds.
All of them except the xbone. The PS4 will be the last console i ever own though. Im getting tired of every new console having 3 good games over the course of its lifespan.
>it's understated
Really now? What you've said is all I ever see in terms of praise for the thing. Not that it actually had games that held up well mechanically over the years but merely paved the way for better games.
Comparisons to the DS
Poor attach rate
High levels of piracy
Basically it's lasting legacy was that it was the Monster Hunter machine despite unsuitable controls.
The controls don't hold up in a lot of cases, but the mechanics and general game structure do.
All except 8th gen because it's complete worthless shit
>NES
>SNES
>N64
>GBC
>PS1
>PS2
>PS3
I'm personally done with consoles. PC gaming has been my primary platform since early 00s and since AAA gaming has been pretty much shit last decade, I don't see any reason to buy a pos4 that collects dusts 95% of the time.
I had a PS2. Loved it.
I had a nintendo DS. Loved it.
I had a game boy. Loved it.
I had a Playstation. Loved it.
I had a nintendo wii. Loved it.
I have a PS4. Love it.
I have a PS3. I used to love it.
I had an Xbox 360.
I had a Game Boy Advance. Loved it.
I had a PSP. Loved it.
I have a 3DS. Love it.
I had a NES. Loved it.
I never had a SNES. But I loved my friends.
I never had an Xbox One.
I never had a Nintendo 64.
I will always be a console man. PC will never do it for me.
>loved all the garbage but not the 360
cringe
>not consoles + PC
its ok te be retarded
i only liked it with friends
na. i only like emulators
Everything but an Xbone.
>Still blaming piracy for the DS stomping on PSP
CĀ“mon, that's bullshit and you know it. DS has way more piracy and easier than PSP. It just lost, move on.
>PSP sold more than 3DS
what the fuck?
Lol so the ps3 actually did win gen 7, god microdick is so shit
Why isn't the Vita listed?
Because you have a bias that if contradicted you simply ignore the truth so your beliefs aren't challenged?
Mine
10
It's cheating by using the entire day family, including the DSi. I would say this list is also cheating by bundling gbc with the GB. ANYTHING that has games that previous versions can't play should be considered a new console.
user...
All except famicom, but I had a NES clone with a few games including duck hunt, kung fu, tennis, soccer and more.
>tfw I have far more video games than friends and I'm a wizard
GBC was it's own thing, there was crossover and compatibility with the GB but it was a new system with most of it's library not working on GB.
DSi wasn't different enough to be it's own thing though. New 3DS did more and that's still just a 3DS to me too.
None.
It had a whole online store unavailable to the ds before it. It also didn't have a GBA slot.
1, n64. Then I stopped being a child and didn't need toys anymore
All of them except the Microsoft ones, the NES, the 3DS and the N64.
I'm kinda cheating since I'm counting my wife's Wii and DS. The last Nintendo console I bought was the GBA.
9 and a bootleg nes
All but 2.
I have a DSi, always felt like a 3DS beta rather than a new system.
4. NES SNES GB PS1.
All but NES and Xbone
All of them.
3 - Playstation 2s (hardware failures)
1 - Nintendo DS
1 - Nintendo Wii
1 - Playstation 3
2 - Xbox 360s (hardware failures)
1 - Gameboy Advance
2 - Original 3DS, New 3DS XL
1 - NES
1 - SNES
1 - N64
Personally I'm convinced that the Playstation 2 and Xbox 360's numbers are inflated due to their frequent hardware problems.
ps1 and 2, fuck everything else
All I've ever had is a NES clone bootleg and I played that shit until 1999. Actually it was more likely a famicom bootleg rather than a NES one.
zero. never owned a console in my life.
Everything besides the NES and Xbone, though the Xbox 360 I only owned for like two weeks so I'm not sure if that really counts.
I never realized I've owned over 13 fucking unique videogame consoles in my life.
Also a Vita, so I can think of 14.
Ps2 , they all are shit in the end and targeted Amerimutts, popularity doesnt make console great.
All of them except any Xbox and NES
