Oof
If half life 3 ever does happen, I hope that Valve finds a way to capture the combat feel of the goldsource games
HL2 guns feel like they were neutered
Go to bed Randy pitchford
I like Blue Shift because it was the first HL game I played.
I like the weapons in HL2
>Dat pulse rifle sound
I genuinely enjoyed the fuck out of Blue Shift. I like that it was short, I don't want to spend 20+ hours on a single-player FPS campaign.
Peak Patrician: Xash3D with all three and million other mods.
HL1 is at most 9 hours long
there will never be another half life game, all the writers and devs that made half life and half life 2 quit a few years ago!!! FUCK YOU GABE!
Half life uses its guns in a way where they all have their advantages but can still work in other situations if you have no ammo
In HL2 you use the pulse rifle 80% of the time and probably the shotgun when that's out of ammo. The revolver is screwed by low ammo capacity and the pistol/SMG are weak in general. The crossbow and RPG are probably the only returning weapons that are more fun, and even then you only have so much time to play around with them. The rockets in particular become a "here's an ammo crate, go wild against something flying around and then wait two hours before you can use it again".
½ Iife universe, hunt down the freeman, portal bridge constructor and moon knuckles demonstration yet to be added
HL2 is a string of tech demos anyway. Impressive back then, not so much now.
People argue if games "age". I can say games like HL2 do.
>Half life uses its guns in a way where they all have their advantages but can still work in other situations if you have no ammo
I don't know about that user. The HECU are fucking ridiculous bullet sponges, the revolver and grenades feel like your only options while fighting them
Everything you can do in HL2, you can do only in the most basic, limited fashion.
Am I supposed to still shit myself from seesaw puzzles? You put stuff on one side, the other side goes up. They should have used the physics engine for more interesting puzzles.
Am I supposed to still shit myself from the most basic squad system in existence? NPCs follow you, that's all, they don't matter one bit.
Etc. etc.
>Everything you can do in , you can do only in the most basic, limited fashion.
>Am I supposed to still shit myself from ? You . They should have used the for more interesting .

When your argument can be applied to literally anything, it's not a good argument. Words like interesting and basic don't mean anything by themselves.
I think that the game itself holds up well as the standard for all games after it, but man could they have put just a bit more into tweaking the weapons. Enemy variety and level design are going to remain a tad too repetitive, but fixing the easy parts would go a long way.
The SMG and shotgun are much more viable in HL1, it's hardly a contest. Marines are tough bastards, but it rewards thinking on your feet and making better paths through them rather than hiding with the pulse rifle through the entire game. Half life only becomes like that in Xen once you have the recharging alien gun, since at that point you have to save your ammo for the bosses.
Yes, everything in HL2. To me it's not an interesting game anymore.
HL1 has the best pacing and level design. The expansions are lacking
Back when Gearbox was still good.
Obligatory

Yes, but that's just your personal opinion. You're just some guy with internet access. Your opinions don't matter.
Now if you'd use actual arguments that don't boil down to "I don't like it", we could have a proper discussion.
Neither do yours, you spic shit.
Correct, that's why I didn't post any.
stalker
Kate valentine HHHHH
Opposing Force had a fucking great soundtrack
HL2's flaws are serious. The SMG has massive bullet spread that makes it feel like an airsoft gun. The enemies are slower and far less aggressive, headcrabs don't jump out at you as fast and enemies can't use grenades for shit.
The whole game it set up so that you can feel awesome for doing basic shit. Why else would manhacks sit in front of your face for a second and wait for you to swat them down? HL1 had better and more interesting weaponry, better enemies and more creative level design. HL2 sets things up like it wants the player to live.
how viable is GoldSrc for VR games, there is only the first Half-life that i've seen and it's janky because it's flatscreen turned VR
Why goldsrc is so comfy
retard
>tfw the best game is non-canon
>tfw the best game's protagonist got ripped off to make Hunt down the fucking freeman
Only good games gearbox has made.
All the half life campaigns can be played in a sitting
>he doesn't even have MS:C installed
lol
Did you seriously just imply that Hunt Down the Freeman was canon?
How is HL:Decay solo? It's the only expansion I've yet to play
The half life canon isn't set in stone.
The lack of all the cool alien enemies from HL1 and OF really disappointed me.
HOME
Anyone played this?
Fuck yes
Opsforce is for boys thinking going against what's accepted makes you cool
Half life 1 is for men who have good tastes in vidja
>good game bad
>bad game good
embarrassing lol

Goldsrc opensrc soon(?)
Not really I just liked the increased enemy and weapon variety.
So there was some buzz about Valve releasing the source code for GoldSrc. Does anyone know what's going on?
it is
I liked Opposing Forces because of all the alien guns, and the new enemies.
If that piece of shit is canon then Concerned is also canon. Also Full Life Consequences.
I hope they open source source too.
Not likely considering they still use it for their "games".
