>inb4 literally who it's from the microsoft website. just got a notification about when they'll be ditching win7 support. i'm most likely going to dual boot linux and w10 when it happens.
tell me about your experience with windows 10 vros, anyone running LTSC?
What's the point? Every good game ever released also runs on GNU/linux.
Matthew Morales
Only incels and pedos think windows 10 is bad. Prove me wrong. >UH BUT MICROSOFT SPIES ON YOU WHAT IF THEY SEE MY LOLI PORN? I COULD GO TO JAIL! Then quit being a a pathetic pedo suhuman.
Landon Lewis
My only complaint is the forced restarts. It doesnt happen often, and it hasnt cost me actual work since openoffice restores it, but it's still fuckstupid.
Parker Barnes
Now that's a valid complain. It's awful when your in the middle of something and it forces you to stop what your doing.
Jackson Bailey
I was really wary at first, but it's totally fine.
Angel Myers
>tell me about your experience with windows 10 vros, anyone running LTSC? Running LTSC. Considering switching to regular Enterprise when the new update with Windows Sandbox comes out.
Alexander Wright
win10 is fine imo. i didn't like it at first but some of the changes are actually good. cortana can fuck right off though.
Alexander Jones
How's the game compatibility for shit like prior to 2010? Better or worse than W7? I'm finally putting together a new build and I'm either going to fall for the W10 meme or just suck it up and learn to use linux, although I'm kind of wary about proton not being that great yet.
Noah Martin
>g mostly trying to discuss in reference to gaming. other than video games, all i do is casually browse the internet and listen to music. care to elaborate user? i'd be all for dropping windows completely if it were possible. also, post builds
I wont pretend to know what its gathering behind the scenes but I'm still here. The operating system is fine aside from the forced restarts which you can delay a few times but if you leave your PC on and you arent there it'll go ahead and do it.
Luis Ward
I did notice a performance boost on the games I was playing at the time (Overwatch, Dark Souls 2 IIRC) on a i3570k and 290. It was worth the upgrade for me.
Camden Reyes
I've noticed it quite a bit. Weird thing is that Windows 10 restores everything after the reboot. Any open apps, chrome tabs are still there, opened explorer tabs.
Nicholas Thomas
>nothing to hide nothing to fear Good pathetic goyim let Microsoft forcefuck you dry
Blake Davis
This. Linux is superior OS. If you can't into it you are a brainlet and should just get a console. Win 10 is a shit. None of your discs will work on it because they removed the software that reads the disc protection. If anything you should be dualbooting win7 with Linux. Or run win 7 in a VM. Win 10 is dead.
Levi Fisher
I don't like 10 because it's ugly. It's more of that modern non-design made by bay area hipsters. Pretty much every older Windows looks more appealing.
Robert Young
How about you take a seat first user.
Jayden Gonzalez
How about you close your boipussi for once. You know if you keep getting fucked in the ass every single waking hour you're gonna need diapers.
Cooper Robinson
im never upgrading get fucked microkike
Joshua Young
>"Microsoft finally has it right with Windows X"
Are shills gonna say this every generation?
Blake Ramirez
>ditching W7 support Who cares, not like I have updates enabled anyway.
Nathan Campbell
What changes are actually good my fellow /g/uru?
Jaxson Gomez
Win 10 is a fine OS, all my games works perfectly on it*, and with may upgrade you'll be able to delay updates.
*don't forget to disable game bar and everything related to games in settings though, otherwise you'll suffer from framedrops
Parker Reyes
How about you take a seat?
Daniel Peterson
I haven't had any problems with W10 other than the mandatory update that was like 10gb fuck my low spec htpc connected to my tv. Managed to eventually install it but for a few months it would just keep harassing me to make HD space I didn't have for the update and pop windows over players and shit. It's been fine on my regular PC.
Austin Green
There's no reason to leave Windows 7 until new games and other software just can't run at all.
Oliver Carter
>openoffice People still use that?
Christopher Gutierrez
there are no more windows generations. all the white men got fired and now poo in the loos run the company and their stated goal is to milk windows 10 for the REST OF YOUR FUCKING LIFE.
Juan Williams
This and afterrwards you can savely jump to windows 8 and wait another few years if win 11 is anywhere around the corner.
Nolan Kelly
>mostly trying to discuss in reference to gaming. You will always have some people trying to shit on you for playing games, but it's not like you can't discuss it all. >care to elaborate You can run most old games just fine via Wine. Personally I even had an easier time getting some obscure CD-ROM games to run on Linux than on Windows 7.
Jaxson Sullivan
>but it's not like you can't discuss it all. Scratch that. Just read through the thread.
Charles Morgan
task manager is much improved, more detailed and flexible. i like that you can right click on the start menu (or windows key + x) to quickly access things like device manager. the os boots up faster and seems more more stable than windows 7. i previously had issues in rocksmith 2014 where the audio would fuck up and i'd have to alt tab out to fix it and that issue is completely gone in 10.
i think my number one complaint would have to be the start menu. it's really really bad imo. you can gut some of the bs out of it but it's still bad and it tries to pull up online results which i hate. otherwise the os runs well.
Tyler Cruz
>win 11 user, W10 is the future of windows. They're just going to add more shit to it with every update and make a horrific frankenstein OS out of it, eventually monetizing it further with subscriptions to use it. There is no W11, there is no turning back, there is no moving on.
Jeremiah Allen
They just changed it to stop forcing updates and reboots.
Levi Baker
im not switching from 7 unless everything i use stops supporting it
Bentley Ramirez
anybody using LTSC? how is that working out for you user? the only reason i'm considering switching is because my i7 7700k is """unsupported""" by w7 which is bullshit. my gpu is crashing to blackscreen every once in awhile (and it's totally the gpu), however i'm currently trying to diagnose that and believe it's strictly a hardware issue. just reseated the card and browsing until/if it happens again, then i'm gonna try and see if it happens with my old card.
Asher Lewis
libre office is better. i haven't used open office since highscool.
Elijah Baker
>just got a notification about when they'll be ditching win7 support. Same and the last update will be in January next year, until then Linux and Valve for sure have made progress.
Jaxon Gonzalez
I haven't updated W7 in years and it's been as smooth as ever.
Ayden James
You can't just add to a pile of shirt forever at one point your shitpile will fall over and you gotta start building a better one. Sure you can take parts of the old smelly rotten turds but you can't build a new pile just out of them. You need fresh shit to glue it together.
Aiden Nelson
How about you close that boypussy for once in your life?
Samuel Kelly
Take a seat user.
Andrew Martinez
I am not going to fuck your aids infested shithole.
Elijah Cruz
Windows 10 is really optimized so you will see some slight increase in performance. Also privacy concerns aside you can disable some of those intrusive elements, but I doubt everything can be disabled, if you are that kind of paranoid guy. Then again windows 7 is not the worst of things, it's still pretty robust as a platform, and honestly, going back to my previous point about paranoia, just get a Linux distribution as your operating system.
I kinda like Windows 10 because of support for things like bluetooth, monitor switching, and wireless connectivity, especially micracast Win 7 is absolute garbo for these kinds of things because they weren't really a huge thing when win7 was made.
Carson Perez
Windows 10 would be fine if it wasn't an endless fucking arms race to find ways to turn off auto-updates.
People have always like new things when they are better. When they aren't they ignore them, e.g. the absolutely plummeting smartphone market.
Oliver Myers
Win10 runs about as well as should be expected. It's mostly the hour of removing spyware, disabling its "convenient features," and cleaning up the interface that sets it back. That being said, it's best to just go all the way with Linux nowadays. Every distro has a package explorer that will keep you out of the CLI, environments like Cinnamon make the transition away from Windows a lot easier, and shite like Lutris exists for the extra braindeads who need help getting games to run on Linux. Just create a bootable Win10 USB for legacy programs and otherwise completely cut out the botnet
Mason Williams
I don't/won't play modern games that require Win 10 and if I did I'd just play it on a console. I'll stick with Win 7 until the hackerz get me.
Leo Cook
I've heard this before. Once upon a time there were people who swore they would never leave XP. Before that there were people who swore they'd never leave Win98SE. And before that there were people who swore they'd never leave DOS. You'll go to where the games. You always do.
Anthony Mitchell
Um no sweetie >I'd just play it on a console >I'd just play it on a console >I'd just play it on a console
David Harris
>Every distro has a package explorer that will keep you out of the CLI And each of them is shit. Using the package manager directly is the way to go and the perfect opportunity to ease new users into command line usage.
I have literally never updated my w7 sp1 machine and run absolutely no anti virus and it still runs everything flawlessly. If you somehow can't manage this you do not deserve a computer.
Where foes it come from? I've literally never experienced forced restart on my PC and I'm using W10 since you could get it with a W7 key. The only mildlyannouing thing is forced updates on restart or shutdown, but I never get any prompts that I need to restart PC to update.
Carter Edwards
Only SecureROM games are fucked and maybe some super old shit (like pre-1995) I didn't try. Everything else works like a charm.
Isaiah Jenkins
And Starforce games.
Gabriel Murphy
how so? you mean like firefox causing it to crash? it goes to black screen then the monitor says no signal. the computer stays on, i even opened up old tabs in firefox with ctrl+shift+t and they were there when i restored the session.
Sebastian Rivera
Using unactivated 10 temporarily and it fucking sucks. I will go back to 7 and linux when I build a new pc
Jeremiah Fisher
>not using honeyview anyway lol faggot
Alexander Evans
Use noCD cracks to get the securom games to work. Piracy literally saves the day, had to do it with the Sims I think?
Ethan Davis
>man using good software years ago didn't notice the takeover and transition into spyware It's utorrent and ccleaner all over again.
Nathan Turner
i've noticed ccleaner is a little more ... intrusive than it used to be years ago, but it's nowhere neat as bad as what happened to u/bittorrent. qbittorrent and honeyview ftw. also clover is a really good explorer replacement.
Josiah Kelly
That's a weird way to spell IrfanView
Landon Cook
(((brockman))) Everytime. I am going to keep going with win7. I don't play pc games. I'll eventually transition completely over to a linux live cd since the government is evil.
Brody Green
>boots windows 7 from a usb and uses a third-party program to manually install all of the drivers Whoops, guess I won't be using windows 10. Sorry Jew.
>b-b-b-b-but your security updates that don't do anything! MY SPYWARE! NOOOOOOOOOO! >YOU! WINDOWS! FIREWALL! WONT! WORK! AS! WELL! DOWNLOAD MY SHITTY PHONE OS RIGHT NOW GOY NOW NOW NOW
i'm probably not leaving this cracked version of windows 7 for another 5 years
Benjamin Edwards
Gentoo is for brainlets. Install Source Mage or LFS.
Ayden Ward
Same. The amount of redditors who unironically believe windows update does anything makes me very angry.
Leo Young
Why would you ever do this on a home computer if you don't have a job in tech? You can't play literally any games.
Logan Scott
you're right, sorry.
Ryan Lee
Win 10 just werks like Win 7 just werks. It makes no difference after the first 15 minutes of setup time. If you use Home/Pro of Win 10 you add 2 minutes of setup time to uninstall the aids it comes with for god knows what reason. If you use LTSC you are good to go, but honestly once you are done setting your PC up youll notice no difference
Joshua Torres
I don’t know all the different distros but Proton should still be Proton, even in gentoo, no?
Blake Fisher
But you can. And I trust wine devs and valve more than microsoft to not fuck up legacy windows software support now.
Gavin Price
i'm seriously considering the LTSC. got any more info?
Anthony Perry
> you add 2 minutes of setup time to uninstall the aids it comes with for god knows what reason. >aids gets reinstalled forcibly without notifying you one week later >windows 10 will force your computer to turn on when it's completely off so it can update its kike shillware without your permission >there's still nobody able to completely remove this as of now
Logan Lewis
What happened to Honeyview and how the heck does it work as spyware? Does it actually connect to the internet all the time?
Zachary Wright
>not using the superior Windows 8.1
Nathan Murphy
Mostly to brag on /g/ about your low RAM usage and/or rice. Far in between you find decent people, who want to keep ancient hardware running or simply see it as a challenge.
When did qbittorrent go to shit? Which version is still safe? I don't even know of any torrent client replacements.
Chase Ross
Can I run controllers like DS4, DS3, and Switch Pro on Linux?? Is there a way to play Skyrim with loadsamods like with ENVs and other graphics settings?
Wyatt Roberts
Windows 10 is fine, I've had no problems with it as a straight upgrade to 7.
I did get the professional edition though and I'd recommend you do the same. Always get corporate editions of Windows, less random bloatware.
Mason Morgan
It got bought by Bandisoft quite a while back and is currently only on lifesupport as it receives no new feature updates, only security. It was never free as in freedom, but only ever free as in free of charge so nothing changed. The only comparable imageviewer is nomacs, but Honeyview is still far superior imo
Wait, qbittorrent is spyware? I'm using the 3.3 version of that, am I in some fucking botnet?
What should I be using instead?
Landon Wilson
Probably, there's good reason why /g/ shits all over it save for the handful of shitposters pretending to be microsoft shills.
Jose Perry
What he said isnt even true, but LTSC comes without anything else installed. There is no Microsoft Store, so there are no Microsoft Store apps preinstalled
you guys just read the original post wrong. qbit is free as in freedom and the best client for windows
Eli Sanchez
I'm too caveman to understand, I turn on honeyview, load up a random image from bookmark, and from task manager/resource monitor I don't see any IP resembling yours on network.
Andrew Wilson
Windows 10 is pretty much improved windows 7 if you are a power user and aren't afraid of a bit of regedit
>Can I run controllers like DS4, DS3, and Switch Pro on Linux?? Thanks to Valve, I'm sure you can.
Samuel Nguyen
Did you know that there is a legit Windows 10 version that acts more like a traditional Windows when it comes to updates, as in you're not getting fucked over by every meme bullshit they release?
Or just disable updates and update notifications from Group Policy
>In Summer 2018, a Windows 10 Insider update received extreme backlash for a planned feature that would have attempted to prevent the installation of other web browsers, such as Chrome or Firefox, telling users they already have Microsoft Edge and there is no need to change their browser.
>Did you know that there is a legit Windows 10 version that acts more like a traditional Windows when it comes to updates Yeah user, let me just create a company then I can buy the Enterprise version and then can make use of LTSC.
James Russell
The one guy is just guessing with his probably. I actually use Pro and LTSC on a daily basis
Evan Jackson
Dualshocks work out of the box without any extra drivers. Never tested the switch controller but I'd imagine at least steam input has support for it. Skyrim does work and so do script extenders. However mod managers can be an issue and LOOT doesn't work at all since it seems to be some ungodly embedded chromium abomination. No clue about enbs. Special edition version will probably have issues since dxvk will inject the same dlls to translate dx11 calls to vulkan.
Jackson Lopez
>asking what software to use on Yea Forums(nel)s top shill board I have zero doubt that the fags saying win10 is good are either shills or retarded.
Brody Thomas
Windows 10 Ameliorated has the spyware removed. It's a bit glitchy, but I prefer it because it also uses less memory and processing power.
Lucas Johnson
Comanche Gold on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 required tweaking and mods to even run. On Windows 10 it worked perfectly out of the box. I think we have a clear-cut winner.
Eli Gomez
>everything is a shill the biggest compliment win10 got so far in this thread is that it made no difference and just werks. Which basically means there is no reason to upgrade if your Win7 just werks as well.
Dylan Roberts
>muh support who cares I've been running win 7 SP1 for a decade and a half and I have all of the necessary files to do so on flash drives
Grayson Bailey
I used to be like you user, I was a Win7 grognard, and swore off 10 when I brought a laptop which was filled with stupid fucking bloatware and paki coding Nonetheless I made the jump when I brought a SSD a few month ago and downloaded and installed Windows LTSB, which is a Windows normally reserved for companies and thus inaccessible to normal users (you need to buy licenses in bulk of 50) It's a bloatware-free version of pro, doesn't have XBOX, Cortana or any other stupid fucking spyware shit and only get security updates youtube.com/watch?v=UFt1qd0ZXIw I'm pretty happy with it desu, of course you'll need to do a few tweaks to get the best experience but it's not bad at all
Christopher Sullivan
>rig
Absolutely despise that word.
Levi Cox
>brought >more than once Fuck off pajeet
Caleb Brooks
Does anyone else not give a shit and just want to play games?
Jordan Cruz
I'm a Europoor you dumb nigger
Matthew Wilson
>M$
And ignored.
Nathaniel Cox
Sorry, fuck off muhammed
:^)
Camden James
whiter than you dumb mutt
Isaiah Davis
Remember when Intel CPUs ended up being compromised somehow and then Intel just swept all the bad press and all news of the event under the carpet and no one has ever mentioned it since?
Logan Gomez
thank you Rhajeed. Ill buy Ryzen now
Parker Foster
>It's literally 1984 guiz
Nolan Howard
That's my only problem with Linux. I want to dive right in, but at some point there will always be some specialized task that I'll need to do (usually with some sort of time constraint) and I won't know how to do it at all unlike with Win7. Some dumb shit like patching a pokemon rom, or messing with a router running openwrt and the instructions are cli as opposed to Windows click-and-drag. Something that makes me go "well fuck, guess I better, stop everything I'm doing here, log out, and reboot into Windows 7 again. Here I am. Fuck it, I'll just stay here now. Too lazy to go back"
Ryder Smith
>unironically playing games where do you think we are
Xavier Sanders
Pretty tired of this "le video game board doesn't play le viode games! XDD" meme
Jayden Allen
Is that so? Maybe find a new place to post. See you again tomorrow, user.
Jordan Torres
Also I feel like the quality of the board has gone drastically down in the last week, even lower than usual Yea Forums standards
Jacob Smith
agreed on this, fucking annoying tho that it turns some "features" back on after certain updates even if you completely disable them and they should never ever turn back on, almost feels like ms is trying to trick you when they go as far as just renaming the same shit just so it can automatically turn back on after an update
John Clark
There are like a billion different rom patching utilities. Even the cli tools are literally just "somepatcher /path/to/patch /path/to/rom"
I'm going to be "that" fucking guy and say it. Stop being afraid of the terminal. Being able to use it will make your life easier even on windows.
This is how you know it's a pajeet. I can practically see them shifting in their seat with rapid-fire comebacks like "u fuk yjoor modder u head deek. I fuk yjoor modder. Fuk yoo" And it's like, they're really mad, but it just looks so silly.
Jeremiah Gonzalez
You're not using LTSB are you?
Brody Ramirez
>tfw probably gonna have to finally leave Windows 7 It's been a good run, lads
I unironically haven't. There has been a severe decline lately, especially today with the Joker release
Alexander Perez
HOW DOES AN INDIVIDUAL GET LTSC
Brody Diaz
>LTSB >no spyware Wrong.
Andrew Bell
>he hasn't been saying it for years Lurk two years before posting.
Grayson Bailey
What's the difference between LTSB and LTSC???
Alexander Foster
Because it's only gotten bad lately and I'm not some brainwashed goobergaberz tard?
Hunter Edwards
Give details I'd like to know.
Justin Morris
Same shit, ms just has a fetish for renaming things.
Julian Rivera
LTSC is just the new LTSB
Angel Lopez
>Because it's only gotten bad lately Fuck off back to /reddit/, retard.
Liam Johnson
I do not know what you say I am a poo I legitimately used to hate Win10 too user Now I tolerate it thanks to this version I wouldn't use the stock one tho It's not? Beside can't you remove the telemetry options?
Dylan Parker
>Uses le epic distro terminal le penguin bullshit >Calls other people reddit Holy shit lmao
Chase Harris
If you really were here long enough, you'd know that what you're describing is far from "the worst decline". And it's only going to get worse, so it's probably best just to leave.
James Butler
>forced update that you can't opt-out of >pajeets are too lazy shitting on streets to test it out first
Imagine reading from news sites that the update is known and confirmed by multiple different sources that it will crashes and remove data from your computer yet you can't do anything to delay it.
anyone who defends W10 deserves to be lynched.
Charles Diaz
You have to use a software firewall to stop Windows from sending "telemetry" in all versions of Windows 10
Parker Williams
>You have to use a software firewall Which do you recommend?
Aiden Brown
>no u! You redditfags are so easy to spot.
Samuel Gutierrez
I agree redditfag, so why don't you fuck off back there?
Oliver Hill
Couldn't you also block it at a router level or with pi-hole? That would stop shit from being sent out but obviously wouldn't stop the os wasting time and processes trying to send them.
Matthew Price
They're all shit so I can't recommend any and keep using Windows 7
Ryan Robinson
Sure, but that's a fight against windmills
Owen Cruz
Even after next year? I am currently still on W7 so this interests me greatly.
Evan Powell
>i love my nazi gestapo and anyone who disagrees is a subhuman brilliant thinking brainlet
Bullshit, 10 just as 8 has less features than 7. The whole interface is only for idiots who wouldn't know how to config anything anyway.
Brayden Roberts
Yes, I already stopped installing upgrades years ago The only exception are emergency updates like the WannaCry patch (which Windows 7 will still receive for many years)
Isaiah Harris
Trying to repair anything on 10 is such cancer. old windows >start >hit key >safety mode >all cancer disabled >disable it in startup >done
>win10 >can't do a secure boot without booting normally and waddling through menue >if the system crashed because of some shitty software you gotta race against it >if too slow redo everything again pure cancer trying to help people with win10
Cooper Russell
Windows 10 has fucked up my laptop more times than I can think of. Superfluous shit that I can't turn off that leaves it running at 40% on idle, backdoors everywhere, constant updates which introduce bugs that leave my disk at 100% unusable or threaten to corrupt the thing entirely, and runs worse than it did on W8.
Meanwhile my PC on W7 hasn't had a problem in 5 years. Fuck Windows 10
>like the WannaCry patch I don't remember patch calling itself WannaCry. >(which Windows 7 will still receive for many years) But aren't security patches gone?
Don't pretend you play games on Yea Forums Laptop for shitposting is sufficient.
Nathaniel Barnes
I've never updated windows 7. no, I'm not even running service packs. Why should I care? why shouldn't I just use 10 for playing a pirate version of Forza Horizon 3 like I'm already doing?
Jason Fisher
WannaCry was the malware or something When it happened they even released a patch for Windows XP It shows that when shit goes down Microsoft is simply forced to release a patch
Sebastian Foster
No, he's just retarded. >???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? So are you.
Jaxson Price
>want to buy a new laptop >all laptops have win10 on them >can't upgrade to win7 because you need drivers right at install and "they don't make drivers for Windows 7 for some reason"?????? Are there any guides on how to install win7 on a new laptop? Like with links to what drivers you would need (like usb3 support or whatever to make the computer even see the thing)? Or is it really quite literally hopeless at this point?
It's fine if they come out with a new os, but I hate how they're going out of their way to stomp out previous versions.
>installing win10 just to play a shitty racing game Yikes!
Jaxson Gutierrez
but it's the only racing game that scratch my itch.
Austin Bailey
Before 10, the only problem I've ever had with a fresh windows install was having to manually add ethernet drivers. A fresh install of 10 got stuck in an unbreakable update loop the first time, and the second time it refused to install half of my software because (as I found out hours later) it didn't like what the user\appdata path was called.
Eli Watson
this. fuck W10.
Isaac Scott
Reminder that microsoft axed their windows qa team and rolls out the big updates slowly because they use the first people that happen to get the update as beta testers now.
Not all of us have jobs where we stand behind a grill or counter, retard
John Rivera
Windows 10, as whole, was designed and made for the enterprise market, not the desktop home user market. And enterprise is a pejorative. It's a sandbox for the kind of morons who actually get phished. The kind of braindead retards who think excel has a usecase. The kind of idiots who will pay a subscription for software that has hundreds of free (and better) alternatives.
That's why they put unstable security features that were previously available via an optional kernel level driver into the actual OS. That's why the telemetry is everywhere. They have to make sure the retards stay in their cage.
There's no conspiracy, they're not after your lolis. They could not give less of a fuck about you You are not their target audience.
if you genuinely see nothing wrong with windows 10, my condolences
Parker Parker
Been using Windows since Windows 3.1 on 6 floppy disks. Windows 10 for years. Just added Start10 to make the start menu tolerable. Never had any problems. Performance is top notch, not a single BSOD or crash I couldn't simply use Task Manager to work around. Got Win10 Professional on 3 computers in the house now. All of them run smooth as butter.
I think people scared to upgrade are just a bunch of faggots that are too lazy to use Classic Shell or sheep that don't understand the millions of advantages and can't see past the start menu, so they try to make excuses that fall flat when talking to someone with real PC experience and not just playing games. I have my MSCE and Novell certs. I am a network admin for a fortune-100 company. I manage a network of 700 computers all running Windows 10 and absolutely hate Windows 7 because of how inflexible and unpredictable it is compared to Windows 10. And I don't know a single real computer enthusiast still holding out and using arcane OS's. There's nothing Windows 7 does that Windows 10 can't do better -- except the start menu, which can be fixed in less than 3 minutes.
Eli Anderson
>Win10 comes out >Tech support all around the world was switched almost full time to "W10 consultant"
Samuel Price
Friendly reminder that the average person is getting more tech savvy every year and soon the ONLY reason to use Windows over Linux will disappear.
Adam Anderson
This tbqh. Not to mention most of their profits come from o365 and azure now. They put just enough token effort to win10 to keep their monopoly since retards are too afraid to use anything else.
John Allen
>millions of advantages It's always the sweeping statements, never details.
Brayden Lee
Does win10 have compatibility modes and applocale?
Damn Pajeet, they really went all out on that script they gave you. Too bad it's very obviously fake.
Dylan Turner
As opposed to the same lame-ass 3 arguements from you Windows 7 faggots about start menus, contrasts, and old-game compatibility? Please. Fuck off. If anyone actually did start listing off the Win10 advantages, you'd just call them a shill. Why bother? I'd rather just make fun of you faggots for being too stupid and stubborn and use modern software.
Brandon Perry
Only an actual Windows™ PowerUser would understand that Windows™ 10 is actually better than Windows™ 7.
Fucking faggots who aren't PowerUsers wouldn't understand this though.
Christopher Robinson
See?
Nathan Perez
Uh huh, the advantages are so awesome you're not even going to bother listing one.
Ayden Baker
Windows 10 literally does nothing different to windows 7, besides a few minor irrelevant features (no, a graphics API that no one uses is not something that actually matters) and the mandatory inclusion of a previously optional anti-exploit toolkit (which you should really have installed anyways) Internally, it's a disaster, almost certainly due to the partially completed failed abortion that was the transition away from the win32 api to the already dead universal windows runtime.
that's the thing i don't get about windows10 shills At best, you've got parity and that's ignoring the instability, the telemetry, the advertising, and the hand-holdy patronizing bullshit That's the furthest fucking thing from an argument as possible.
Adrian Moore
This is what I hate as well. I've lost quite a bit of artwork from putting my drawing tablet/computer into sleep mode for FIVE minutes to get a drink or something, then coming back to a "HAHA! GOTCHA!" style surprise update. I've gotten better at saving, but it's frustrating when it happens when your computer is inactive and without any warning within the hour before it happens.
If this is true, then I hate it significantly less.
Easton Lewis
>win10 has dx12 >barely any games use it >games that do run like shit >old games don't work You'd have to be an idiot to use win10 over win7
This is the most wrong statement I've ever seen. People are worse with technology than ever before because they're used to streamlined apple shit.
Cameron Cruz
Adorable.
Lincoln Martinez
Why does he need to sit user?
Nathan King
You mean the API win 7 is getting anyway?
Nolan Stewart
>can't run win95/98 games on win10 >can run them on linux Why is that?
Matthew Adams
Yes, the poo covered completely irrelevant bootleg copy of vulkan.
Joshua Hall
You're supposed to entice me to upgrade with features and benefits retard
Ayden Perry
I'm never downgrading to win10, microfuck can suck my wee wee, especially after what they did to japans early chance with PC. We all have to suffer from shit console ports because of them
>not just auto running a bat file on startup to disable them all Ishygddt I actually have windows 10 skinned to look exactly like 7, but with the improved features still available. Sounds to me like you need to git gud at computers.
Noah Campbell
>but with the improved features still available like what, specifically for gaming ?
Brandon Brooks
>like what, specifically for gaming ? Being able to use modern CPUs is probably the biggest one for gaming. Also being able to make Windows use less than 1GB of ram when activating gaming mode. But most of the improvements in Win10 are actually quality of life stuff like, a search bar that can help you get a config.ini file without digging.
>but with the improved features still available what improved features Instability caused by a codebase that's more fecal matter than code at this point? Patronizing handholdy bullshit designed to make morons feel safe? The illusion of having control of your own computer being taken away from you?
windows 10 is the operating system equivalent of flea market-tier toddler proof furniture
Matthew Miller
Someone who knows how a computer works for more than just vidya
What's the Indian inclination towards W10? Other than the fact that they made it.
Brody Garcia
anyone on windows 7 will greatly appreciate the video performance on windows 10 I mean how it behaves every time you launched a game on windows 7, you get a 1-2 seconds black screen while the computer figures out what is going on.... jumping from exclusive full-screen has the same issue in windows 10, it is very obvious all that system is reworked from the ground and up other than that, telemetry is a travesty, the preinstallation of "apps" like candy crush should be punishable by law, the constant shove of Edge everywhere.... a bunch of annoyances, but once you nail that down, windows 10 is superb, and the white theme is beautiful, my lads it's all the bullshit mobile crap + all the legacy windows 8 shit fullscreen shit what makes the experience a mixed bag
Anyone here have experiencing pirating windows 10? I assume most of you didn’t give microkike your shekels. From what I’ve seen a clean pirated copy + a windows 7 key should work? Am I opening myself up to exploits if I pirate it?
Ian Sanchez
I got a new pc with Win10 after my previous pc of 7 years died. I’ve disabled all the telemetry shit I can and so far I’ve had no problems with anything I’ve tried running.
What am I missing?
Justin Young
Just use Linux (do some research or pick a popular one) and install W10 in a VM. Set up GPU passthrough and congratulations.
Jaxson Gray
>Using any of those instead of organizing all your image and video media through Hydrus Network It may be a learning curve, but in the next decade where everything will be censored, people will be sharing their meme and porn collections through it via IPFS
Jaxson Powell
>pirating windows
user...
Benjamin Price
windows 10 is the easiest version of window to pirate no need to bother with cracks, you can just use microsoft's offline activation server thingy
Benjamin Smith
reminder windows 10 pro is like $5 on keysites, even on amazon
Nathaniel Evans
why would you pay for a turd you can get for free with zero risk at all
Caleb White
gonna get LTSB when they finally cut W7 for good, or if I get a new processor. their new development cycle is fucking retarded, and they're basically using Home/Pro users as beta testers instead of a proper QA team. abhorrent.
can't believe they can get away with not supporting newer intel generations, even though it's still """supported""" for another year.
Landon Jackson
>zero risk $5 to have your legal copy of your operating system.... it is not like you are paying a mortgage
Ethan Barnes
I'm using Hydrus. That doesn't mean I don't have a dedicated image/pdf viewer and media player nor does it prevent me from organizing my files in an orderly fashion before importing them.
Brandon Gutierrez
why not LTSC?
Nicholas Sullivan
It isn't bad but it sure doesn't have the clean gui that 7 had. Clicking the clock in the bottom right corner of the screen shouldn't bring up some retarded smartphone calendar than can't even scroll months.
Samuel Flores
I am on skip ahead, with zero issues since forever you can remove all the crap you want, or even deactivate it (better IMO, because those scripts break your system big time)
>honeyview holy bloat batman. use pictus or feh or shut the fuck up
Luis Brooks
>it requires literal decades of experience to make a "user-friendly" os intuitive and tolerable
Every single update has broken some function for me, the best one was the anniversary update forcing itself through despite me disabling every auto-update function you could find online. Also when I updated from W7 despite only having my admin account I had to get a 3rd party tool because MS in their infinite brilliance decided to give admin permissions to a non-existent account so I could do next to nothing until I used the tool to snag them for every folder.
Aaron Gomez
Yeah I totally believe about W10 being "reworked" when it literally has legacy W7 or even XP interface elements hidden a click away from its material design nu-menus.
Thomas Morris
Imagine being this braindamaged.
Julian Miller
see you guys when you guys finally move on to win 10 when everyones on win 12 and you'll claim you also won't switch to that and just ends up wasting your own time again
Jacob Gutierrez
>BlOAt oh geez
James Ramirez
as far as i understood it, LTSB only gets security updates, LTSC still gets "features" like resetting your settings and deleting your data. correct me if i'm wrong though.
Thomas Morgan
If you are afraid of the GNU/Linux you are a brainlet. Just admit it
Carter Butler
why would I lie to you? yes, there is plenty of legacy shit in the interface, but as I said, video is reworked, and even support hdr
Here's a bit of truth: Almost any modern windows has been working fine once you beat it into shape a bit. Xp 64bit is the sad exception.
Dominic Ward
>haha look mom i did the funny reddit alternating sarcasm writing
Austin Cooper
you're bloat but we don't say anything
Hudson Anderson
I end up using win10 for my new build since i kept hearing win7 had performance issues with ryzen. Until now the only problem i had was an update fucking up with the internet connection and blocking the LAN configuration but i manage to fix it with a .reg file. Besides that it just werks and opening iso files with double click without daemon is pretty sweet. Also, Mortal kombat komplete edition doesnt work
Easton Lopez
the retard's right, sort of it's halfway reworked they tried ditching the win32 API for the universal windows runtime needless to say it did not go well and it was by all accounts an unmitigated disaster considering UWP is dead
Landon Watson
>opening iso files with double click without daemon is pretty sweet. You can thank Windows 8 for that.
Jack Hernandez
it's still 5 dollars for something i don't even want for free
fuck your botnet
David Peterson
Literal shill
Landon Carter
Nothing about Windows 10 is an improvement over Windows 7 and much of it is a straight downgrade. Just switch to Linux or even Windows 8.1 if you're a bitch nigger who wants to delay the inevitable. Or don't; the number of people on 7 will force an XP extended-support situation most likely.
BASED circumcised-dick sucker.
Anthony Ross
are you really moralfagging about fucking windows and not just any fucking windows, a windows where you can just get an activation server from microsoft themselves
Aiden Nguyen
Everyone unanimously agrees 8 is worse than 10. Microsoft also said 10 is the last iteration of windows, and they’re just going to keep upgrading jt
Oliver Brown
shill for what? for a keysite? all I am saying is that you can get a legit key, and stop using russian hacks just by paying $5 if that is not a good deal, I don't know what it is anyway, windows 10 "upgrade" from windows 7 was free but you guys wasted the opportunity by being fags what does it have to do with being moral it is a fact that having a legit copy will always be better down the line than having an activated copy using some hack and it is cheap as fuck I doubt those $5 goes to microsoft in any way possible
Nathaniel Williams
>Nothing about Windows 10 is an improvement over Windows 7 >the number of people on 7 will force an XP extended-support situation most likely. Where'd you get your crystal ball, user?
Caleb Phillips
Are you retarded? Windows has never been rebuilt. That’s why it’s so bloated
8.1 is Microsoft's best product in history. People just got burned on 8.0 and never gave it a chance.
Austin Parker
>but you wasted it by being fags
Nah, any old windows key still gets w10 activated legit with no piracy
Dominic Lee
"Win10 iz bad" is shitty meme. Im running Edu version I had from uni since at least two years now, cant recall anymore and everything is fine. The only annoying thing I have is that it pops once per day that it have updates but unlike some tech illiterates, I used group settings to make it only remind me, not download or install.
Carter Turner
Stop fucking up your computer you retard
Asher Cook
>legit key *stolen from volume licenses and can be revoked at any time
Hudson Morris
>things that never happen yeah but it you use your email address, it gets tied to your account, which is kind of neat, because you stop using keys forever, at least for that mobo
Evan Butler
>It's "fine" 10fags arguing parity again since they have no actual advantages.
Carter James
It's not some fucking hack you stupid moron. Microsoft literally just gives out the servers for authenticating windows 10 because they genuinely could not give less of a fuck about the home desktop PC market.
Thomas Peterson
Yeah it must be their side that's the odd one out, not the one refusing to listen.
Liam Young
They care a lot. They just don't care about the direct revenue from there, but they care a lot about keeping their near-monopoly status.
Justin Parker
Windows 7 doesnt have these problens.
W10 is just nonstop stream of shit nonstop breaking something in your system. At this point it isnt even funny. Every single month they break shit. wccftech.com/windows-10-updates-break-again-for-some/ Since MS fired ots whole quality assurance department, windows become a pile of shit.
John Miller
All windows versions are "fine" and something you tolerate.
Jaxson Anderson
once again, I agree on every single criticism in terms of GUI and usability >mobile crap up the wazoo >notification system that only nags you again and again >installation of apps because fuck you >start menu looks like a giant ad >onedrive nagging constantly >telemetry everyfuckingwhere >still the same indentity crisis where you can find XP windows here and there BUT, the good stuff, the real OS stuff, is there, and it is wonderful >instant boot >instant power off >instant fullscreen >reliable alt+tab >it rarely hangs up in any way the only thing still not happening in the retail version is the multiple processes explorer.exe.. which is happening in the 2020 build the thing works from a OS perspective... the problem is the suit and marketing guys ruining everything
Justin Cox
In yours maybe. Stop fucking it up.
Joseph Hall
For the former, personal experience. From the latter, pure guesswork on my part. But when Microsoft releases a half-decent OS that's often what happens. XP was supported until like 2015, iirc Why the FUCK is Windows so incompetent at updates compared to Linux? Any Linux? Is/was it like this with other proprietary operating systems?
Gabriel Phillips
i still don't understand your point if you own a legit windows 7 key, you get your windows 10 legit no matter what BUT, if you have a home edition, you need to pay for pro and that is $5
Lucas Richardson
>instant fullscreen >reliable alt+tab What do you mean?
Jack White
ok rajesh
Josiah Lewis
>onedrive nagging constantly first thing i disabled and never heard of again.
Camden Nguyen
I mean that exclusive full-screen is not as buggy as in windows 7, it does not resize your windows or spazz out from some games same with alt+tab
Xavier Foster
Nah, that still happens. That's not an OS problem, it's a shitty programmer problem.
Jaxon Bailey
Mine doesn't nag me with notifications, doesn't install unwanted apps anymore (though they were there by default), and the start menu is just classic style, no tiles. Also, onedrive is just gone.
Jason Price
No, they literally only care about the enterprise desktop market now. The home desktop is dead and has been for years, smartphones killed it.
okay i'll say it in retard speak microsoft lets you download the app that they use to check whether or not windows 10 keys are legitimate you can use it to activate windows 10 versions without a legit key
Jackson Hughes
>BUT, the good stuff, the real OS stuff, is there, and it is wonderful
that might be true but I am sure as hell not waddling through that lake of shit just to use those features that I can mimic on 7 with a SSD.
Angel Diaz
>The home desktop is dead and has been for years, smartphones killed it. No, it isn't. I have no idea where that meme comes from. Smartphones were an addition to desktops, not an alternative, because people still like large screens and keyboards when they want to do more than text their friends.
>buying Windows user you seriously don't do this do you
Jackson Cook
If I buy something I own it. I expect it to do what I tell it to do. If I don't want it to do something it should stop doing that thing.
Windows 10 takes far to much power from me so I refuse to use it.
Easton Ramirez
How do you think, brainletkun
Andrew Fisher
it is an OS problem, i'm fairly certain that's caused by desktop window manager being shit it intercepts all graphics stuff and forces it to go through it unless it's in exclusive fullscreen where it actually runs like it's supposed to causes a fair amount of performance overhead too, it's why windowed applications run worse
before windows 7 you used to be able to disable it with no problems it breaks some parts of windows 8/8.1 and can't be disabled on 10
>giving a shit about their support >having updates on >being so retarded you catch malware
lol
Luis Murphy
They went to shit around year 2017 where they switched main CEO and his first decision was to trim the company's fat aka firing QA department. Since then the customers themselves are the beta testers and it shows.
The real fix to the w10 problems is to upgrade to windows 7 and stay chill. There isnt a single piece of hardware yet which isnt supported by w7. Even the newest ryzens runs flawlessly on it.
Buddy of me has gotten kicked out of games twice already by his W10 updating lel
James Perry
>having updates on >implying you have a choice
Zachary Hill
>having updates on >being so retarded you catch malware You know, if you don't have the updates on you don't need to be retarded to catch malware, there's a fuckton of exploits that require no interaction from you at all.
Tyler Ross
You don't have an option to turn updates off. You're given a choice to delay it, but even then it'll still fuck you over one way or another by installing when your PC is idle.
Asher Young
Tell him to stop putting off his updates forever and to reboot once a week. That's how the rest of the world easily avoids this shit.
Owen Ramirez
I currently dual boot, arch and windows 10. Arch is fun to tinker with and I spend most of my time on it, but I don't really game on it. I've tried before and it just wasn't worth the hassle since it is far more convenient to play on windows.
A good while ago I had setup GPU pass through and it was great but non-gratis with all the parts I bought for it, CPU performance impact for gaming was negligible on a 4K monitor at 60Hz. I even managed to get VR working without a hitch once I passed through a PCIE USB controller. The main benefits over dual booting were as follows: >Can let windows update without taking over the entire machine, can still use the host OS. >I have setup VMs that are offline only, so I can run whatever I want on them and transfer data to them via usb. >I don't have to restart to switch OSes >I don't have to worry about reinstalling or reactivating my VM's OS when migrating to another system since I can easily transfer my OS from one system to another by simply copying the image file(s). Setting up GPU passthrough on another system is a hassle though (mostly getting the right hardware, the software part is easy if you've figured it out once)
I removed my passthrough setup a long time ago since one game was spiking and I thought it was due to my virtual hdd's performance but it turned out it wasn't after dual booting. My setup had the host use an iGPU which was not great for watching Chinese motion pictures on MPV. Switching the GPU back to the host required shutting down the VM, then running a script which logs you out and in with the dGPU. Such a hassle.
I have a second dGPU lying around, just need a motherboard with 2 PCIEx16 slots and I will be at it again. It was such a nice setup
Samuel Richardson
Maybe stop pirating your games from shady places or doing other idiotic shit
Aaron Parker
it aint like the old days anymore bro where you gotta go to a naughty link to catch a bug

Oliver Jones
Imagine being so retarded you don't understand the post is talking about Windows 7
Jason Price
And yet I've caught absolutely nothing in years. If anything, W10 itself is the biggest malware you could put on your PC.
Aaron Powell
Wrong. Tales of Berseria doesn't, therefore Linux sucks cock.
Michael Wood
Did you read it wrong or can people fuck over W7 users even when the user does nothing wrong?
William Russell
>Microsoft is giving up on “Windows as a service” that is automatically updated outside of your control. alrigh.. >When you click “Check for Updates” in Windows 10, you can choose whether you want to install the resulting updates or pause updates for up to 35 days >or pause updates for up to 35 days
>and with may upgrade you'll be able to delay updates. a small step for any other OS, a giant leap for windows 10
David Reyes
OP is talking both about W7 and W10. It's hardly our fault if you can't clarify what you're talking about in your original post.
Owen Lopez
this is the average consumer
William Carter
That would fall under retarded. Modern malware is better than this. A worm exploiting a 0-day requires you to do nothing at all except not fixing it. Script-distributed malware has shown up even on very reputable sites.
Ethan Moore
>Le "I got nothing to hide so I don't mind if I am being watched" argument
>A worm exploiting a 0-day requires you to do nothing at all except not fixing it. Not him but what the heck is a 0-day?
Jonathan Hall
all it takes is one compromised ad provider and Zheng is now using your GPU to mine bitcoin and Ivan is encrypting all your files and will hold them ransom for 1 bitcoin.
Better hope Zheng's miner script gets at least a coin, maybe then you can ask Zheng really nicely to give you the bitcoin so you can pay Ivan to unencrypt your files.
Blake Smith
A vulnerability that's been there since launch and has only now been found.
Jordan Hernandez
Sorry to burst your bubble, but Windows 10's only real security perk over 7/8/8.1 is that it comes with the important anti-exploit features from the Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit preinstalled. As in, they were optional before that. You're not going to be fucked up the ass by vulnerabilities if you actually know what you're doing. Even something like Wannacry could do nothing to people who actually maintained their windows installs, SMB1 was depreciated like a fucking decade ago.
a vulnerability that gets exploited by malicious faggots before being discovered by non-malicious faggots thus "0 days" to patch it before shit hits the fan
Grayson Harris
Damn scary shit bro Maybe I'll give a fuck when it actually happens. Cause nothing has happened in years because I've got common sense and a good firewall.
Go fuck your "Windows updates" Pajeet
Jack Wilson
An exploit or vuln that hasn't been discovered previously and is only known to the person that found it
Keep smoking, it's totally fine, you didn't get cancer yet and I'm sure the homeopathic pills are working. (protip: firewalls won't help with anything)
Joshua Murphy
That's cool and all but you put W10 on your PC, meaning you already willingly put malware on your machine and are now being permanently profiled by Microsoft who take note of everything you do and upload said data without you being able to stop it. And no your epic registry edits and host file edits don't stop it.
Kevin Thomas
>all it takes is one compromised ad provider
stop visiting your fecal fetish pornsites pajeets and maybe you won't catch viruses designed to trick subhuman monkeys such as yourself.
You guys talk about Win10 being amazing and that you can "disable all the bad" with just doing this and that, but no one ever talks or points to a guide on how to do any of that.
How do I get LTSB or LTSC without paying for it and without shady russian faggotry? How can I disable telemetry? How do I disable automatic updates through group policy? Can I make Windows 10 look like Windows Classic like I can currently with Win7?
Oh, if only there was a guide on the internet that wasn't biased and full of shit that I could follow to do all these things, but no.
Because their successors were complete fucking garbage. And then a decent OS came out. They didn't ever leave for vista/mistake edition.
Nicholas Lee
Sorry but I prefer using an OS that doesn't delete my fucking documents after an update.
Jace Ortiz
how is a guide "biased"? literally just do what is says to achieve what you need.

Jose Cook
I use my Win10 PC for only games and pirating music and i have no issues. I did have to modify and disable a lot of bullshit to get to the right state though. Very bare bones at this point
Luis Hall
>reading comprehension I don't have windows 10 installed and think people who do suck penis. Since you didn't get it the first time, Windows 10's singular genuine security benefit, the one thing it actually does that's good, is something you can go install right now on windows 7, 8, and 8.1 as part of a package called EMET. And you really fucking should. It actually protects you, unlike anti-viruses.
Brayden Wilson
>update your botnet box with MORE botnet
paramount logic there Mr. Patel
Brayden Long
Wow let me update my Windows so I lose my 0.000000000001% chance of catching something. And all I have to to in return is install something that 100% and always spies on me
This. Stock Win10 was bullshit, but with a little work it works well. I don't get people's problems with it.
Anthony Barnes
>>How do I get LTSB or LTSC without paying for it and without shady russian faggotry? Is that even a concern when people in this thread have claimed that both don't actually work and still get fucked? Though I have no idea if that's true or not, I haven't tried any W10 and am wondering all the same. Previously I had the notion that these versions were safe backup options for later but this thread is telling me otherwise apparently?
Henry Campbell
is this legit true? I have a friend who tells me after support stops win 7 will become a security risk
Dominic Howard
Running LTSB 2016, it's not terrible
William Ward
t. retard who thinks he can actually stop all the bullshit in W10 with "a few simple tricks and edits"

Daniel Perry
Stop moving goalposts. It's understandable getting viruses through ads when visiting shady as fuck websites, but if you can get shit easily through Forbes (which, I personally wouldn't visit with their whole adblocker-blocker bullshit) then there really is no safety.
How can you or anyone use Common Sense 2017 as an argument?
>b-but you can turn all of the AIDS telemetry off! >th-the program I used to turn it off says it's off! s-see? No no sweetie, that's not how it works.
Jacob Martin
I had to upgrade to Windows 10 because my new motherboard didn't have USB drivers for Win 7. It mostly works. The main problem is that a couple times a day, it completely freezes for a few seconds. It's pretty annoying, and it'd probably be more so if I ever played multiplayer games. With how random it is, I don't even know how to start diagnosing it. Also, the start menu is nigh unusable. It just lists all the shit in alphabetical order. What's even the point? I just use the search bar, which fortunately works in the version I got.
Isaiah Rodriguez
right wing weirdos think forbes is some conspiracy agenda commie site
yeah, forbes, I know
Benjamin Turner
So don't click "Check for Updates"? Or am I misunderstanding and that's also going to be non-optional. If the latter, then what's the point of the article since it's functionally exactly the same. If the former, just don't check for updates and you're good. t. not that user

I will never trust those jews, ever.
Adam Richardson
first when i "upgraded" to w10, the constant updates and unstoppable malware cleaner made my pc fuckin unusable; i seriously had windows applications using up 90+% of my cpu as soon as i used any non-windows program, the malware shit was going fuckin haywire tried disabling a bunch of that unneccesary stuff, worked for a day then w10 fucking commited sudoku then i got it on a usb-stick from a friend, it now works pretty good; but the amount of background stuff that windows does is insane and the malware shit can still go up to 10-20% cpu usage
Wyatt Harris
I've been using a pirated version of 7 since I upgraded from Vista maybe seven years ago. I've never used support - haven't had to.
How exactly will this affect me? I'm pretty sure it won't but... not sure.

First of all, I don't give a dick about removing support for Windows 7 because I have all the updates turned off anyway because Microcock's idea of support is adding new ways for them to spy on you.
Second of all, good. All it's going to do is speed up Linuxfags making their OS usable which will mean that Linux can finally play some fucking video games.

How come these threads always brings out tons of shills? It also the same when there is a discussion going on on games etc, people start seething about people using W7.
Adam Reed
>"They" know you're committing crimes, but have chosen not to do anything about it
Daniel Reyes
I have to pay to get fucked?
Jacob Cox
Yes, you can. Windows 10 Pro has the group policy editor for administrators that let's you disable a ton of shit for everyone, if you want to, including auto updates, cortana, defender, and all the other stuff.
Blake Harris
Very wrong. DX11 is still the best renderer and it's not losing support any time soon
Luke Davis
It's just a later patch of the same. They changed the name instead of doing their usual "service pack X" shit
Elijah Butler
they don't want to play their precrime/thoughtcrime hand just yet. There's still the flimsiest pretenses of law and due process and personal freedom in our society that if trampled on right now would ruin all their hard work. People still expect these things and take them for granted. They will wait until these are eroded enough and people accept that they don't have them anymore, and then they will spring this shit because no freedom or privacy will have become the new norm
but until then they are building as much info as possible on you
Samuel Ortiz
post proofs.
Asher Diaz
And what of LTSB/C
Ian Reyes
I believe they have it too, since they are mainly for companies.
Gabriel Adams
But is DX the de facto compatibility factor? What about other parameters that make up for overall compatibility with a specific OS? And let's not forget about certain devs being absolutely retarded, I still can't play YS8 on my W7 rig and I constantly keep readin W10 doesn't have nearly that many issues.
Samuel Gutierrez
Listen. It's hard making software like Windows. Microsoft gotta make money somehow. You need to keep buying the newest one, or we'll go bankrupt.
Easton Ortiz
Linux will never have mass adaptions as long as it not simple.
>bb b b but you are a brainlet if you dont like the terminal
Ok then peoplr ate brainlets and won't use Linux. Linux retards NEED to understand that the second you start making stuff complicated you will lose mote than half your audience. People juat don't wanna deal with commands that shit and if Linix is gonna make them deal with commands shit then it's never gonna get wide usage.
Robert Butler
Would you accept being indefinitely sent to a gulag for no specific crime, if it ensured that would also go to a gulag?
Easton Lewis
mmm yes just let big corporations into your bedroom and ass bros it feels so good
James Davis
I hate w10 fags shilling their shit but they're still 1000x times better than Linux fags.
Caleb Price
Ever since I've shifted to Windows 10 I have this annoying problem where if I leave my PC on for too long there's minor lag spikes. Probably happens every couple of minutes and it only lasts a second, but if you're playing an FPS it's fucking horrendous. I can temporarily fix it by restarting my PC but I've no idea what's causing it. Anyone else got this issue?
Gavin Nguyen
>0-day WOULD YOU IGNORANT FUCKING NIGGERS STOP IT WITH THE FUCKING BUZZWORDS 0 DAY MEANS PREVIOUSLY UNUSED, THERE IS NOT A FUCKING 0-DAY EXPLOIT IN THE WORLD THAT ANY SECURITY UPDATE IS GOING TO PREVENT THE WORD HAS A FUCKING MEANING, LEARN IT YOU WALKING PIECE OF EUGENICS PROPAGANDA
Alexander Lee
Here it is. Search Group Policy on the start menu, you will find it if you are running Windows 10 Pro.
Linuxfags are delusional. They want people to use the OS and yet refuse to admit the average consumer wants a working pc not a linux pos that breaks down every 5 minutes.
I would love for Linux to be consumer ready but it's simply not. Linux needs to be simple to use, really simple to use or it will never get mass adoption.
Again people want a working computer, not a computer customization project. The second you have to open the terminal on any regular basis (regular being more than once every 6 months) you start losing masssive amount of users.
Jack Sullivan
I ran win 7 for 4-5 years without once downloading any OS updates and I didn't catch jack. I'm not switching to 10 because of updates.
Jackson Carter
I had this issue while playing Planetside 2 because Superfetch was using up 100% of the HDD, Disabled Superfetch and the game ran smoothly. Try to see if something is using up all your HDD read/write speed.
Kevin Cox
>simple It's simple as fuck, what are you talking about? You don't have to memorize terminal commands if you don't want to.
Isaac Garcia
Be ready for the "Linux is easy, just use the terminal and run 10 commands" shills that think that everyone else in the world is not a complete retard who can't even use an Android phone.
Jose White
Unless your distro doesn't work, doesn't have the GUI tools to fix the problem and it needs fixing. Just like when I tried to install Mint on a laptop and Pulseaudio refused to work, so I needed to install a ton of shit and configure lines in files to make it KINDA work, and it still made fucking awful noises on the mic.
Jeremiah Gray
Oh, that's a bummer then. I have a retarded mobo so I had the same problem when I built my PC. Had to order an optical drive and wait. Now that I think of it, can't you just partition your drive, boot something else(from a USB, third partition, whatever) and use that to get your drivers and dump them onto the clean partition, and accessing that from windows?
user you shouldn't even be opening the terminal more than once a year at most. That is simple.
Linux will never reach mass adoption because compared to w10 it's a fucking complicated mess for the average users. People who use a PC don't wanna deal with a pc, theu just wanna use it. They don't wanna deal with weird troubleshooting shit which is why IT exist.
It's a headache to deal with linuxfags who still don't get how simple the average user wants their experience to be.
Owen Cooper
wtf is this real
Adrian Morris
Well, for comparison, how do you fix something like the problem has with Windows? Or the freezing mentioned in ? Remember that the solution needs to be easy to implement by normies.
Aaron Scott
No
Liam Wood
Has Microshaft fixed it so that W10 isn't such a fucking resource hog for my HDDs and the CPU? Have they fixed the forced updates yet?
Mason Brooks
Well, of course you would have to ask for help if you are a normie, just like you would have to ask for help to fix that shit in Linux. But they aren't problems such as "just installed my OS and the fucking audio doesn't work" or "installed my OS and I can't do shit because the network drivers are not working" type of stuff you will find on Linux.
So don't open the terminal you double baka. Why would you? It just werks. Except when it doesn't, obviously, but if that's the case, then you're basically fucked regardless of your OS. I remember the frankly absurd problems I had with my Wacom tablet in Windows 7. At least those were fixed in Windows 10, even if they were replaced by new problems. Well, partially fixed. I still need to go into the service manager to reboot the tablet service every now and then. But at least the tablet works after I do that, without needing to do other idiotic witchcraft.
Jordan Rogers
>if you don't want to be infected just because you are connected to the internet That sounds fucking suspicious, why is that a risk?
Jacob Ramirez
What about the resource hogging? I don't wanna use W10 if I have to wait 10 to 15 minutes to get access to my PC because W10 needs to use 100% of my CPU and Disk
You're right, fuck jannies >talk about a game for longer than 2 weeks? OFF TO /vg/ WITH YOU >unless I personally like the game >or it's a Nintendo game >or it's Smash
"Okay, but will you delete off topic material in a timely fashion?" >you have been banned from all boards for violating global rule 8
Josiah Ward
Remote exploits. People find exploits in the Windows kernel or services and publish them on the internet, so any script kiddie with a Kali distro can run a script and fuck you up remotely.
Juan Peterson
>Has Microshaft fixed it so that W10 isn't such a fucking resource hog for my HDDs and the CPU? No. Priorities lie everywhere else besides making the desktop stable and usable.
>Have they fixed the forced updates yet? You can stop regular updates for 35 days even on consumer versions and feature updates for 18 months. Beyond that you still get very little control.
Asher Bailey
Startup times still kinda suck, but at least I'm not having any problems with resource hogging after everything is loaded and ready.
Joshua Davis
You can disable all updates permanently if you want on Windows 10 Pro. Windows 10 Home is for normies who will probably get their PC full of malware and shit, so they force security features and updates. It's a good version to install on your grandma's computer. Install Pro if you wan't to control all the Windows features from the Group Policy editor.
Camden Price
How about "installed a new motherboard and there's no mouse or keyboard support, and there never can be mouse or keyboard support, because the hardware manufacturer no longer supports your OS version, and the OS manufacturer has never given a single fuck, so unless you're up to coding your own USB driver from scratch you have to buy a new operating system"? I've never had problems with Linux like I have with Windows. It's not simple. There is no reason to use it, unless you need software that doesn't run on Linux (e.g. video games).
Benjamin Williams
because faggots saw that faggot mods banned games like SCP SL because of a personal vendetta before and think their spamming and whining and flooding reports are what did it, so they keep spamming GO TO /vg/ in the hopes of it happening again
it's TOR mentality, they saw the ship sink and think they did it so they keep doing it because they want to see another ship sink
Connor Lewis
>So don't open the terminal you double baka. Why would you? It just werks. Because many of the most convenient tools Linux has to offer are used via the command line. Hell, I'd call the command line one of Linux's biggest advantages, if you are willing to use it.
Hudson Martin
also lmao the post I replied to was nuked, someone is upset
Samuel Hill
anyone using Windows 10 LTSC ? I heard it's still buggy and people should rather stay on W10 Pro until the next targeted LTSC update I'm moving to LTSC as soon microsoft puts it on their official website, if they ever do it
David Butler
Yeah, obviously, but you don't HAVE to. If you're using something like Ubuntu, there's a GUI tool for most anything you'd ever want to do.
