How the fuck do you deal with a giant Backlog? Humans aren't optimized for gaming, our lifespans are too short and games are being produced at a high rate. This is not kino. According to my calcs it'll take me years off my games since it's full of RPGs. Seriously what the fuck, I feel really limited, humans aren't optimized for gaming. I'll list my backlog until I hit 2000 characters. I'm lowballing the times and don't get fooled, 20 hours of perfect play to finish a game usually translates into a month of playing a few hours every night at a slow-regular pace. >Digital Devil Saga 1 30-40 hrs >Digital Devil Saga 2 30-40 hrs >Persona 4 30-40 hrs >SMT Nocturne 30-40 hrs >Devil Survivor Overclocked 30-40 hrs >Devil Survivor Overclocked 2 30-40 hrs >Persona 3 30-40 hrs >Persona 2 20 hrs >Persona 1 20 hrs >Ace Attorney Investigations 2 40 hrs >Ace Attorney Investigations 20 hrs >Yugioh Tag Force 3 30 hrs-Infinite hrs (anytime I want a duel) >Ace Attorney Dual Destinies 20 hrs >Ace Attorney Spirit of Justice 30 hrs >Strange Journey 30 hrs >Silent Hill 20 hrs >Silent Hill 2 30 hrs >SH Shattered Memories 30 hrs >Fate Extra CCC 20 hrs >Final Fantasy 12 40 hrs >Final Fantasy 10 40 hrs >God of War Chains of Olympus 20 hrs >Ys Seven 30 hrs >Resident Evil 6 30 hrs >Resident Evil 1 Remake 20 hrs >Final Fantasy 4 20 hrs
That's 770 hours at a minimum. And those are just the games I have right now that I want to realistically play. Not including some other scattered games I have like Trauma Center and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, not including future games, and definitely not including Online timesinks like MOBAs, fighting games, gachas and shooters, that will probably take some of my time every now and then, all 4 of those.
Assuming that I take a month for games listed as "20 hours long" on the internet... 770 hours are roughly 38 and a half months. What the fuck.
I didn't even consider that I may spend time watching anime and shitposting on Yea Forums, wow what the fuck my calcs are wrong

One day you'll just say "fuck it" and uninstall 95% of your games and play the few games you've been playing for the last 10 years on repeat cause nothing new seems good.
I FUCKING FORGOT I HAVE ALL OF THE FIRE EMBLEM GAMES FOR 3DS
Colton Nguyen
Just enjoy the moment dont stress yourself :^)
Zachary Anderson
99% of games released i have no interest in playing
Aiden Moore
Fuck I'm here, I just stare at the PC screen and boot up Overwatch again
Joshua Roberts
I uninstalled basically every game off my PC other than a couple of roguelikes
Luis Jenkins
You just... don't play them. You're allowed to do that, you know. You just mentally X them out and cancel them from your schedule. They're not "unfinished". You're not less of a person for playing them.
Just stop. You are in control of your life. Not the games. Not anyone else. If you are at a point where the games are not bringing you joy or causing you to neglect other parts of your life you need to stop playing them.
Dont forget that online game with infinite gameplay
David Hughes
No good game is longer than 12 hours.
>RPGS I already have a job thanks.
>Silent Hill/Silent Hill 2/Shatmems Literally 8 hours the first time and 3 hours each replay. Same for REmake.
>Resident Evil 6 A weak entry, probably because its 15+ hours and goes above the 12 hour golden rule. Still a good action/tips hybrid if a little sloppy.
Adam Peterson
you deal with a backlog by accepting that you won't finish all of these games and stop trying to force yourself through all of them like its some sort of required checklist
shits pointless bro, just play what you feel like in the present, if you never get around to some of them, oh well. there's more far more media available these days than a person can ever realistically ingest so worrying about getting it all in is futile
Andrew Davis
It's not that the games don't seem good, it's that they are too similar to other things I have done. There nothing novel to experience.
Some people don't seem to have this problem because they don't play games for this reason. They can happily slog through 20 different JRPGs that all have similar gameplay and stories. Not for me. The last one of those I played for 40 hours was way back with Final Fantasy XII. And I didn't finish it because near the end I just lost all motivation. Like it just hit me that I was only playing out of habit rather than any sense of enjoyment. Nah, that's not my style. So I jumped into other genres I hadn't played much (Dark Souls was the next game I took up, and that lasted until 3.)
I look at games now and idk man. I play some extremely hard and weird ROM hacks and that gives a little feeling of being out there in the unknown again. But they're frustrating due to the extreme difficulty.
I think its so hard for video gamers to say to themselves that it might be time for a new hobby because our identities are partially wrapped up in it and starting something else is seen as proving people who said "you'll grow out of it" right and we don't want to do that. But those people don't fucking matter.
Asher Rivera
I did that years ago. Worked for a little while but no longer. Now what?
William Walker
this. I learnt that humping from game to game all the time without ever finishing them was a huge waste of time and money and never satisfied me.
Now I just play Dynasty/Samurai warriors games, Monster Hunter and Souls games and have other hobbies as well.
Limit yourself to a few series you really like, play them to death and eventually consider moving to other series.
>Cut out the JRPGs because they're all shit and all the same >Cut out the AA games because they're not as good as the original three >Cut out yu gi oh because you're not 7 >Cut out Shattered Memories because it's crap >Chains of Olympus took me 3 hours to beat and was shit There you go, loads of time saved
Learn a different language and you can experience your gaming backlog in a different way sometimes. It will force you to take it slow too.
Zachary Lewis
Chains of Olympus was a little longer than 3 for me but I thought it was a pretty quality game.
Caleb Stewart
>so many games in your backlog Why not restart it? Do you REALLY have to play all of those games? Also how about only buying 1 or 2 games at most that you will actually beat and then buying the next one? Like stop being retarded and having to play everything even if you dont really want
Evan Gomez
Humans are optimised for producing humans. Create 6 offspring, have each offspring create 6 more, and instruct your progeny to carry on your legacy. After 4 generations, you should have 1300 offspring. If you divide the task of playing videogames between them, you could play every single videogame. But do try to make sure whoever has to play Fallout 4 is properly restrained so they don't commit fratricide over the indecency of being forced to play the shit game.
I enjoy fighting games with anyone even cheesers (no better feeling than punishing cheese), enjoy their mechanics and terminology, enjoy helping others understand when they desire in pursuit of further competition.
William Wood
Why are you taking a month to play through a 20 hour game? 3 hours a day and you'd be finished in a week, two if you like to be thorough. Stop wasting time online and play your games, if you really want to get through them. If you find yourself not enjoying a game, drop it and move on. You can get through everything you listed in a year or less, especially if you drop the mediocre games partway.
Ryder Ward
very slowly user. You'll realize you cant completionist every game if you want to play them all. Soon you start giving up on the shittier ones early on instead of sticking them out, then it helps. I went from like 280 games in my backlog to 130 in the last 4 years. I swear I'll make it.
Gavin Thompson
I have 60 hours in the last two weeks on just rocket league
git fuckin gud
Adrian Nelson
you just quit your job, at least that's what i'm going to do this monday
