MM's remake has ten times the soul of the original. It's no longer just random assets chopped up and repurposed for whatever, but characters actually get rooms filled with stuff relevant to them.

I never played the remake, but looking at the image I'm actually amazed that they added all sorts of little details while still staying faithful to the original. Looks good.

Dark Souls 3 is quite beautiful.

they did a (mostly)good job on the aesthetics, but they fucked up the mechanics of the game.

This is the most shocking thing about the 3DS remakes. They are gimped as fuck by the 3DSs resolution and look 50 times better when you emulate them. They have textures that are way too high quality for the screen.

Shit taste. The only improvement was the resolution, fps and graphics which was a must because it was made 20 years later.
Color palette is completely fucked up. It's not supposed to be a cartoony game. Some character designs also got butchered.
The gameplay was complete shit too. They got rid of Deku's water jumping momentum and Zora's swimming got fucked to hell and back.
Hell, even some of the bosses got fucked in the ass, in the original you could aproach some bosses differently to beat them which gave you a sense of freedom. But nope, gotta use Deku only to beat the Deku boss, Zora to beat the Zora boss, etc.
The kids in town now are annoying as fuck and won't ever leave you alone.
Don't even get me started with the fucking ice arrows.
MM gameplay was so crazy and ever evolving that it truly felt like something else entirely form that generation. It's like the creators knew Ura Zelda was going to be impossible for hardware limitations that they brainstormed all this cool mechanics and stories to compensate for the reused assets.
MM remake is what you get when the developers couldn't understand why the game was so successful in the first place.
