If you've ever watched the mini documentary they did with the old 3DRealms team, it was clear they didn't really know what they were doing either. 3DRealms was never organized, particularly talented or smart. DN3D was just a lot of ideas taken from other things patched together and somehow turned out fun.

This. Duke Nukem played a huge part of my gaming history growing up but I don't want anyone soiling that franchise anymore than it already is.

There's literally no way they could launch a game in this political climate anyway and not have it be a total clusterfuck.

New DOOM was an anomaly though. It deliberately ignores a lot of modern FPS trends.

The Duke-man truly was a character of his era. I think devs got it wrong simply because they exaggerated the more infamous parts. You have to remember that Duke was one of the first game characters to have lots of voice lines and mature content, and this quickly culminated in the idea that Duke is 100% 2edgy4u. Personally, I think Duke should really be about gritty urban/industrial sci-fi + charm and humor of some random action guy.

Duke is just a video game copy of Ash Williams.
