Is Yea Forums actually worried about Sony's increasing censorship of sexual content? I'm not a consumer of lewd games, but I do feel there's a risk to banning certain types of games for ambiguous "moral" reasons while at the same time promoting games about violence/death/suffering etc.
The social conservative side of the "gaming" community blames it on SJWs, but honestly I think the US has always had a weird attitude toward sex vs violence. Whoever it's coming from, it doesn't seem healthy and Sony reinforcing it is a bad thing.
It's dumb to censor rated M or equivalent games especially if the reason is "for the children".

However, I fear that these acts set a precedent for a new era of censorship and puritanism in video games that will affect other types of games.
The biggest problem I see right now is that only niche games are being affected and therefore go unnoticed in the eyes of the average player, and it won't be until it's too late for them to react (if at all).

The thing is, the puritans who were agitating for things like this in the 2000's failed completely and faded into obscurity, and now the far left has taken up many of the same stances for different reasons, and their motives are the ones most commonly invoked today by those implementing censorship. It was also much more about violence than sex before.
Regardless, I'm going to ignore Sony garbage for the foreseeable future. I'm cautiously optimistic that Nintendo and Microsoft won't go down this road, since they can only benefit from providing a market for developers that Sony rejects or abuses. Sony likely shot themselves in the foot by being so fickle and vague about their new standards; the Japanese may be willing to censor their work if ordered to but they probably won't put up with spending money to repeatedly modify things because somebody at Sony changed their mind. I'm only afraid of this being their "foot in the door" if Nintendo does a heel turn. Comic and movie industries already proved that top investors care more about ideology than profit and will happily force this down everyone's throats on principle instead of giving artists and consumers free choice in the market.

I don't wanna sound like a conspiracyfag, but I feel like Sony is doing this under orders and that this will spread to the other companies and stores, with heavy taxation otherwise and problems otherwise, CERO/ESRB/ratings were ok with it, but I think that there are ulterior motives behind this and that it will soon spread.
