Why did Dutch shoot Micah...

Why did Dutch shoot Micah? There was no reason to help John considering he left him to die and it looks like Dutch and Micah have had a pretty successful relationship so far.

Because deep down, he still loves you!

He was there to kill Micah. It's not definitively known whether it was to avenge Arthur, his surrogate son, or because he blamed Micah for unraveling the gang and being an informant. At the time he didn't really give a shit about John or Sadie anymore and had no reason to fight them. He had left John behind all those years ago out of cowardice, not malice-- similar to when he left Arthur to be killed, except that John didn't really pose as much of a threat to his authority so he had even less reason to outright kill him.

Listen to his dialogue.
When John asks Ducth wtf he is doing there, he says something like "The same as you I suppose," meaning he was there to kill Micah.

Dutch knew Micah was a shady rat, I feel he believed Arthur and he knew it was only a matter of time until one of them had to turn on the other so doing it then gave him the chance to escape instead of being hunted down if things went wrong....

but it seemed very unlike him to just walk away from a chest of gold instead of trying to convince the two he's on their side and possibly walking away with some of that gold.......
he just walked away from his own huge stash of gold without a word..... so unlike Dutch......

But they were clearly in cahoots
They finally recovered all the Blackwater money and it was implied throughout the game that it was by no means a one-man job

The next time John sees Dutch, he tells the FBI agents his wife used to be a whore and then blows a girl's brains out

It just feels very jarring for him to want John dead to killing his cohort and leaving John $17k back to wanting John dead

>it looks like Dutch and Micah have had a pretty successful relationship so far
>They finally recovered all the Blackwater money
THEY didn't do shit. Micah recovered that money on his own. It's clear that Dutch just recently made contact with Micah again.

I thought the implication was that Dutch had been running with Micah for some time.
Why else would Dutch be staying at Micah's hideout on top of a mountain?

Yeah, I played RD2 first.
So see the first RD progress was very confusing.
Compared to RD2, RD1 felt pointless as nothing you did ment anything in the end, were as in RD2 you could just stop and nobody would die.

think Micah says something like ‘all sorts of strange visitors showing up lately’ so yeah they definitely haven’t been together long

use the fucking spoiler tags you fucking asshole.

dutch didn't care about the gold, he cared about the lifestyle

it doesn't matter how much gold he got he'd still not stop, it becomes an irrelevant factor

This game came out 6 months ago

I didnt completely understand that either desu. But if I were to guess, Dutch knew he fucked up, because he sided with Micah, he lost his "brother" and his "sons". He knew John was up there to right the wrongs. Dutch was prideful and wild, but he knew John was in the right. I dont think he was up there to kill Micah like he let on, but he knew he needed to die.

He was fucking done with it all. He probably didn't want Arthur to die and to be left with Micah, but he did what he felt like he had to survive. After Josea died and more pressure came from the law he crumbled.

This. He never wanted material possessions or wealth. He just wanted to take what he pleased, kill who he wanted, and have followers love him for it.

He didn't do it for John he did it for Arthur

>cruel, cruel world

Hadnt 10 years passed or something by then? You can see that lifestyle of constantly running from the law and allying yourself with the scum of the earth had a dramatic impact on Dutch. He lost his family, which broke him, then he spent the remaining years just living as a dirtbag criminal. He even says at the end that he understood there was no place for men like him anymore, but in just wasnt in his nature to be any other way. The dude was calloused and angry, I dont even think he hated John, just projected it on him for being the whipping boy of the law.

i think this is correct, but dutch has a sort of moralization to justify himself. he's not just a stone cold sociopath who only wants to hurt others, he wants to hurt the others who he believes deserve to be hurt. he thinks himself a robin hood type figure, fighting against the capitalist class of the wild west. he takes in downtrodden people who are poor or directionless and gives them a place in his family. and to an extent the things dutch does are admirable and do help the common man. his justification for his actions is far better than having none at all.

Then why did he leave Arthur to die in the first place?
Sure, he was going to die regardless but still

You saw a gang leader break every code he believed in, shoot his girl, kill in cold blood, betray, leave fellow members for dead, leave his "son" for dead [\spoiler] in a story that never actually mattered because it happened years before the first game and RD1 has another time lapse as Jack after that.[\spoiler].Honestly, to keep dutch relevant in RD1 and remembering Micah has to die since he's not in RD1.

He had 7 years to realise he was in the wrong

Games story and gameplay is filled with inconsistency.

The game it game journalists weren't in bed with Rockstar would've been 7.5 at most.
It's an average game.

arthur was a pathetic mule, a pointless jackass. at best he was a war-donkey.

We should get a dlc that fills in the gaps between the timeskip where we get to play as Dutch

lol

So should the story move on to adult Jack, or do you think there's any potential in going even further back, maybe seeing how Arthur, Dutch, John etc. got together?

cringe cope and seethe

others already answered but the moment Micah says "Arthur's been dead a long time" you can see Dutch look in his direction immediately, and he wasn't letting that guy talk about Arthur no more.

This. The game it game.

could give a shit honestly. was so disappointed in the shitty gameplay and i'm not a sucker for pitiful stories about hyper pitiful characters. honestly don't appreciate the whole trying milk emotion out of me for a over the top depressing character like arthur morgan. i mean i can't help but think of what they did with arhtur morgan was just a gimmick.

games art and production was something spectacular though.

What exactly would Jack do? By the time he kills Ross, he's of age to ship out to some trench in eastern France

>Nu-Rockstar
>DLC
>So should the story move on to adult Jack
A western game that takes place in 1914? Fuck no. They already stretched it far enough by having Red Dead Redemption 1 take place so late in the 20th century

Micah was cunt and not everything is about personal interest. Some people still have morals and honor

Should play as Young Hosea or one of the Callander bros., imo
