it's a looter shooter like borderlands, but it's upgrade drops rather than weapons. i never really bothered with the upgrades. also the stages and combat get really same-y.

I agree, GITS isn't cyberpunk, but not for your shitposting reason. It completely lacks the societal aspects of the genre. Oppression, technology being advanced but not elevating people's lives, a breakdown of societal norms. GITS has none of that. People benefit from technology, society isn't lawless, the general population isn't oppressed by any means.
No it's not cyberpunk. There's a single level in which you travel to a technological city. Everything else takes place in the chinese country side. Pirate it or get it for cheap. It's okay for a single playthrough. Mindless, repetitive. The guns suck.

Yeah, I don't know why people keep calling GITS cyberpunk when it's far from it. For fuck's sake they show that law enforcement and the government CAN be trusted, that for the most part society is doing well, but there's trouble makers whose potential for damage is greatly amplified by tech.
It's pretty far from cyberpunk.
If you can get it for $10-15, you're golden. It's a looter shooter without the repetitive grind loop that the online ones have. Melee is fun, guns are kind of boring to use. How is your tolerance for asshole protagonists that crack jokes?

I have two guesses. There was a commercial for GITS on toonami that used the word "cyberpunk" so now they use that. However, most of the faggots here are ultra zoomer newfags that didn't know what GITS was until it started being shitposted in these threads, so my second wager is that that they just learned about GITS from these threads.
