Cannon spamming MK is the least fun MK. Play him as a magically buffed fighter. That dark magic enhancement for his melee attack really adds a lot. And stone forest.

Gear is VERY useful in DD. Its stats have more of an impact than your base stats to an extent. Your vocation determines your stat increases per level, but that won't matter to you unless you level a pure-magic vocation a bunch and then switch to pure-melee or vice-versa and even then you can just level those vocations to even out or get really good gear.

you can use it if you want but given that both main weapons have strong counters it isn't really needed

You know, it's funny, I've tried like five times to get into this game and I just can't get it to click. I may be retarded, but the appeal is going over my head. The furthest I've gotten in the main story is up to the capital city, Gran Soren was it? It was kinda cool, I made my character look like Leon Kennedy and my pawn like Claire, had a fun little romp but it just didn't stick.

Should I give it another shake, try something else like a different starting class or get further past Gran Soren? Does it open up more from there? I genuinely want to enjoy this game, help me out here.

Played Assassin, loved it. Got to go SANIC FAST and stab like a million times a second.

Was soloing Daimon in like 10 seconds long before I finished grinding al lthe BBI armor pieces.

I had that experience for years lol, the game doesn't even really kick off until you can change to the advanced classes in the city imo

Once you're there combat opens up more and you have more of a natural flow to questing going out from the city and coming back to it at the end of quest

They are going to get a summoner class

It improves a lot. Everything before Gran Soren is prelude.

you need to try out all the classes. they're very different and it's really easy to hate one and love another.

Contrary what others say: you may never get into this game. A game can't appeal to everyone.

Game's not for everyone. If you don't like it, you don't like it. That said, the game doesn't really come together for most people until after reaching Gran Soren, and once you finish it chances are good you missed a fucking ton of sidequests.

The lead to Gran Soren the first time is the slowest point of the game. Things pick up after you do the quest with Barnabus and you're allowed to do whatever you're want in the world... assuming you don't get killed doing it. Also don't be afraid to change vocations, your augments, and skills. Half the fun of Dragon's Dogma how wild the combat can be because of how ridiculous your character's ridiculous abilities.

Seriously, it's horse shit. Not only are they fucked into 3 skills (whereas Sorcerer gets 6, despite also having 1 weapon type), they get shit for QoL skills as well. Warrior should have gotten Dodge at the very least. Only good skills are the I-frame slash and AoD

I tried to play this shit game as a wizard but full enemy squads solely targeted me so I kept getting killed while traveling to quests. I got meteor but it still didn't help much because it took forever to cast.

It really is frustrating. I love fuck off huge swords, but it's the worst class. It's still fun to play because arc is fucking hilarious, but I'd rather play assassin or something where I have more than one option for damage.

DDO isn't really that good though. It's worth the pain the in ass setup if you really like Dragon's Dogma, but it's not something worth playing in the long run.

I used pawns. Enemy groups would always immediately target me since I had to be in the front of the party for travel. No wizard can survive a hail of arrows from fifteen fucking bandits at once.

meh i've thought about min-maxing the perfect class multiple times but in the end my lvl 200 character is some fighter about 80 levels warrior and rest ranger with a couple or sorcerer. i don't care that much about the online dragon and every enemy in the game can be trivially beat with blast arrows.

Ranger was pretty OP as well, assassin for leveling assuming no mods. Really though the game is easy enough there's no point in even thinking about playing anything besides what you enjoy the most.

I didn't even bother with it but AFAIK you have to godsbane on chests that can drop the cursed gear and then godsbane again when purifying to get all the different pieces. Too tedious for me.

I loved the game from the very first minute. I know its a cliche, overused word, whatever, but for me Dragons Dogma is the comfiest game I've played. The music, discovering the world with your pawns, the NPCs, the customization, the areas. I loved everything about it.
If you are already at Gran Soren and don't find it fun, maybe its just not for you

I used great gamble till the end of the game even though people recommended that other skill. But it was so satisfying playing entirely with one glass cannon shot. I needed to move around, escape and evade tons just to find one opportunity to use it and it needed to hit perfectly but it was so satisfying to see multiple bars vanish with one successful strike.

Longbow are fewer in number compared to shortbow so you more or less have to get lucky with treasure chests, buy the black market ones, or complete quests. OR just do what everyone else does and venture into Bitterblack as any and all cursed items are dictated by the vocations of you and your pawn, if I'm remembering that correctly.

Strider classes in general are just fucked up. Three different types of (class-exclusive) subweapons is insane. You're so much less likely to get a usable weapon as a Strider than you are a Mage it's ridiculous.

Warrior's fun but it degenerates into hop-attacking and ARC spamming too easily. I play Full BBI runs fairly often (go to BBI immediately and never leave) and Warrior almost always eventually becomes "lmao stunlock this enemy with arc" which is REALLY boring because it takes ten fucking seconds to charge

I never tried it until I reached BBI in my second play through and decided on a full Robin Hood build. Wish I'd have tried it sooner.

It's the cost of the move and not a gamble. There is zero luck involved at any point. Using that move is a completely calculated risk that has zero uncertain effects.

The fastest way to grind lvl 2 and 3 BBI gear is to kill-farm 2nd form Daimon. He sometimes drops 1 or 2 pieces and then the chest at the exit have high rates for lvl 3 weapons, armor and gear. If you get a polycrystal instead of one of those you can godsbane and usually it only take 1-3 times for all the chests to be lvl 3s.

If you don't care about cheesing you can run straight to Daimon's keep while lugging a few hundred blast arrows and Conquerer's Periapts as a Ranger and stunlock both his forms to death in seconds. Or you could go Magic Archer and use Magic Rebalancer x4 to replace Demon's Periapts to boost magic and use 9-fold Bolt to kill both forms at a slower pace.
