Oh believe me, I was there saying it was Shibuya when people like Barry were shitposting that it absolutely wasn't. But it's a Secret Movie, and apparently Nomura disclosed that it doesn't absolutely reflect what would be in the future. The story stuff links up: overusing a power tied to sleeping hearts and worlds may have dumped Sora into Shibuya as a sleeping world, and Riku ended up in the neighboring ward looking for him (which co-aligns with FFXV's Insomnia being a Shinjuku ripoff). But whether it would actually be reflected in future stuff is entirely at the whim of Square-Enix honestly.
It's people proclaiming that Nomura came in, directed the new content for the Switch port while he was busy with KH3 and VII-R and intentionally fucked up TWEWY with an awful sequel hook, just so they could Nomura boogeyman that triggers me.

Currently playing through Switch version for the first time, end of 2nd week.
Can't comment on New Day yet.
Loss of the light puck, and the way you fight on two fronts, is not in Final Remix's favor.
However it is noteworthy that the gameplay holds up significantly well, even when neutered. Testament to the original's tight design.
Another byproduct is it also makes each partner lose individuality in gameplay.
Josh's transition from vending machines to Jesus-beams? Infinitely less impactful.
Light pick's integration was also stellar in base game. Went from neat bonus damage to critical mechanic for bypassing Taboo Noise's defenses.
Now you just mash away with partner attacks at the same time.
Still enjoying the hell out of it, and appreciate this entry for the additional songs + remixes alone.
Is unavoidably a straight downgrade in gameplay, but right now focusing on what it is more than what it isn't.

I am a JRPG fellow who was too addicted to MMORPGs (EQ) when TWEWY came out and thus did not own a DS.
I preordered it on Switch prior to knowing you cannot use a Switch Pro Controller and have to use touchscreen or even the worse pointer system.
I've heard people say to play it on 1-player Co-Op mode. I've heard other people say don't bother playing it outside a DS. Money isn't an issue in my life: is this game that much better of an experience on the DS? Also, how does 1-player Co-Op mode work.

>you can change the difficulty at anytime and if you suck at the game, it allows you to put your partner in auto until you git gud
>if you die in a battle, you can retry again on your current difficulty or lower it to easy
>you can lower your own health for increased item drops for an awesome risk-vs-reward factor
>you can choose when to fight at anytime with almost no random encounters outside of story related battles and later ambushes
>after you beat the game, you can access any chapter in the main story at anytime you want and unlock bonus content that fleshes the world even more. You can also change your partner whenever and can take on a whole slew of extra bosses hidden within the chapters, even the ones that kicked your ass before
>battle system that takes full advantage of the DS’ hardware in incredibly creative and fun ways
>you can mix and match your gameplay style in anyway you want, whether it’d be close corner combat, long ranged attacks, or a mixture of both.
