Which console had the most soul?
Which console had the most soul?
all consoles until the 3shitty and cuckstation 3 were pure soul.
SouljaGame.
Gamecube and ps2 was the peak, but I dont know if its just my nostalgia bias
The Wii had a ton of soul though.
>shitty motion controls even in the main menu
no
All 6th Gen games.
Sometimes i wish the Wii had actual more power and wasn't an overclocked gamecube, but god damn the menu and music for it brings back memories.
nigga just plug in a classic controller
3ds and Wii u were very soulful, the switch is completely soulless though
Soul was already dead by the time the Wii launched.
Wii U also had a vestige of soul by copying the Wii's UI and Miiverse
>implying shitty motion controls is soulless
There's nothing more soul than a translucent colored Dreamcast
>It's a 6th gen kiddie thread
You don't need menus to have soul, zoomers. 4th gen game intros were always peak soul
youtube.com
I wish it had better online functionalities more than graphical fidelity. A lot of wii games could have benefited from an update feature.
only soulful kids remember this
>not owning an SNES with Mario-All stars
youtube.com
I've got the All Stars + SMW combo cart solely for the unique Luigi sprites it has in SMW. To be honest I don't much care for the art style of SMB1 and SMB2 (JP) compared to the original NES versions, but which version of SMB3 is more appealing could easily be debated. I like that the All Stars version has actual music at the intro screen.
Yeah that's the one I had too, but too bad my parents fucking sold it, or lost it in the fucking attic.
>t. obvious troll.
relax, the 360 blades were 100% SOUL.
this console sucked. just because its remembered or even exists, or looks cool, doesn't make it relatively good or useful.
ps1 owners don't know demo discs with soul
All stars is anti-soul
Get that garbage outta my thread
nah it was cool and good
Why does UI look so boring and samey now?
>We will never return to the maximum comfy days of the WiiU
>I will never again wake up on a rainy sunday morning, make myself a cup of coffee, and browse Yea Forums while the soothing tones of wara wara plaza and chirps of mii's fill the room, miiverse shitposts being wired directly to me through the gamepad
Pure S O U L
it had a lot of good arcade ports
low effort flatshit to appeal to "minimalist" millenials
Because skeuomorphism died, which was a style that gave things shadows/textures/shading aka SOUL. You can thank Apple and Microsoft for letting that shitty transparent samey blank style get popular and become the majority.
They designed switch UI to use extremely low resources so it can boot up instantly.
im sorry guys but it may have been cool but it wasn't good. the saturn copies of said arcade ports like xvsf and mvsf were rare as shit and cost a bundle, not only that but you had to have the ram expansion or you were playing a piece of shit on wheels. it was just a terrible system. they didn't even document how the damn thing worked, it was so bad.
>some game save icons had crying or stressing out animations if you selected the delete option.
I thought that was so cool back then.
at least apple and microsoft dont go full retard like google does
literally just chinese emulator bootlegs with "souljagame" brand name on them
>adding more color, design, detail is "soulless"
nice meme
And? It's 100% soul.
*blocks your path*
it wasn't all about the arcade ports at all. shining the holy ark, dragon force, torico, dark savior and many other games could give you a childhood full of soul
I believe this user but I also believe you didn't play all of those when this console first came out mate and thats alright
ok, this is soul
Mario All Stars played like shit, it's basically the Reignited Trilogy of Super Mario
i did actually. i even had ultra rare games like deep fear and panzer dragoon saga.
my fondest memories are with dragon force, it's a really great and comfy game
got any pics or are they magically somewhere else?
Was Nintendo just being anal here or is there a reason why they hated things being called "a nintendo"?
If your brand name is proven to have become a generic word for a product in court I'm pretty sure you can no longer enforce copyright
What was the last "real" era with soul here?
probably some pretentious bullshit used to ride out their image and induce more of that autism to make you >feel more with your system. or it could have been legit. though, nintendo means leave luck to heaven, i highly doubt it. i wonder if this ad was NoA only though.
Late millenial still had tons of soul in the right places user. The only soul I can see after that is literally MW2 and X360 during blades and thats it.
SMBUSA and SMB3 play identically to the NES version. Only SMB/Lost Levels are different. People have compared the code, it's fucking identical except SMB/Lost Levels has ONE byte changed that fucks up the brick physics.
Any difference you feel is down entirely to your own preconceived biases.
I really wish instead of cutting off Miiverse entirely they had just frozen it exactly as it was when shut down. So many games lose out on things because they actually tried implementing it, and now they're just shadows of their former selves with temp messages.
a pic i took recently for /vr/.
we sold deep fear and burning rangers back then when they cost nothing but i still have this one, dragon force and a few others of value
The answer is where your childhood was. You've got people here saying n64/ps1 was peak soul but then you've got older people who say genesis/snes were peak soul and 3d was a soulless mistake.
I loved those little start menus. Elebits was the best.
>wikipedia
but still
en.wikipedia.org
bump
>tfw you grew up in the greatest vidya eras of all time
>tfw you were a poorfag and couldn't play half of those amazing games, nor knew of their existence as a kid because you were sheltered all your life
It's a twisted kind of feel.
>but then you've got older people who say genesis/snes were peak soul and 3d was a soulless mistake.
What? I'm a SNES baby for sure but when N64 and Ps1 came around I didn't really think much of it, played them in equal measure alongside my SNES. Are there people who hate the advent of 3D? Games still had a lot of soul in 5th gen
