it's as easy as following a recipe for pancakes and last time i checked, it didn't require any additional hardware. just read the guide carefully.
a NDS flashcard like the r4 is still quite handy if you want to play NDS games, though you can play the vast majority of NDS games from the SD card with a software solution just fine.
