Sony announces PS5 will have an SSD

>Sony announces PS5 will have an SSD
>console warriors on all sides absolutely lose their mind
Why? It's decade old tech.

There are people on Yea Forums that don't still don't have SSD even on their PC.

It really isn't a big deal, considering you can just replace the PS4 hard drive with an SSD.

>consolefags are so deprived of technology they go basedboy for decades old technology
no way, really?

It would be bigger news if they put games on small ssds cartridge style. That would be fucking amazing

At this point it's just being lazy, HDDs are a huge bottleneck. You should at least have your system run an an SSD.

How are they even gonna include an SSD that can hold more than 5 games without another "FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE DOLLARS"?

Consolecucks literally don't know how technology works, this is why they always get excited their new console has "higher" tech than high end PCs once they release but also seem to forget than about 1 or 2 years after you'll be able to buy a PC that's more powerful for the same amount you spend on said console, consoletards are literal children with no knowledge about anything whatsoever

I don't think it'll be SSD. It'll be nand flash built right onto the board itself with HDD for storage. More like a SSHD type setup going on for the great performance for cheap prices.

It could very well be something like AMD's StoreMI type of deal.

>Everyone ITT doesn't know that the SSD described in the article is revolutionary beyond most other technology available today.
This isn't just an SSD this is a highbandwidth SSD. I have yet to see anything that performs 20 times that of the standard PS4 HDD in a gaming setup.

>>Sony announces PS5 will have an SSD
they didn't say that

>not using m.2 for gaming

Honestly I’m surprised ssd are not a standard in consoles. I haven’t used a console since 2002.

Joke's on you, I don't even know what an SSD is.

I don't think there's anything unique about that, beyond your honesty about it. Most people on Yea Forums throw around tech lingo like SSD, wifi, f2p, RAM and pixels like they know shit about it but it's 99% parroting.

It's not about the tech, it's about the games. Try playing Spider-Man, Bloodborne, God Of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Knack, The Last Of Us, Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted or Until Dawn on your 10k custom PC.

>its gonna do everything for 499

sure bro

do you guys think ps4 will get another revision? or should i just go for a pro since it's the final version?

Why don't sonybros themselves?

Best selling ps3 game is Minecraft, best selling PS4 game is pubg and almost everyone else is playing a rip off of it

>"Faster than any SSD available for PC's
>It's probably just an NVMe drive
kek. I see snoy is as good as ever with deceptive marketing.

This

Guilty. I'm still at a gtx 650ti. Not sure sure if I should upgrade my whole computer, since my RAM is getting funky.

Just because it's matured technology doesn't change what it costs to make.
There are only 6 companies that make the majority of flash storage in the world.
They sell these chips at a high price for other companies to make SSDs.
Sony buys their flash from Micron but they don't have SSDs currently so they'd probably buy a fully built SSD from a manufacturer.

Now Sony will be able to get these cheaper than you'd buy in a store.
Sure.
But not that much cheaper.
You'd be hard pressed to find a 1TB SSD for $150 or less.
If you're already considering the cost of a ryzen processor with navi graphics and the ram and the cooling system and the PSU and the case and connectors and everything else that goes into a console, spending even 1/4 of the final ticket price on storage just doesn't make sense.

To prove this point further, the PS4 and PS4 slim don't use real SATA.
They use a SATA connector but it goes over USB internally.
Sony don't give a fuck about storage.
If the PS5 has an SSD it will be a small one that acts like a cache like you see in hybrid drives and accelerated systems.

Is this powerful bait?
>The Wired piece says Sony hasn’t given any technical details about the SSD itself, such as who makes the controller or NAND flash memory, or even whether it’s using the PCIe 4.0 interface, but does say that “it has a raw bandwidth higher than any SSD available for PCs.”

>IT'S TOTALLY MORE POWERFUL AND FASTER THAN ANYTHING YUO CAN GET FOR PCS GUYS, TRUST ME
>WHAT? YOU WANT TECHNICAL DETAILS? FUCK YOU, HERE'S SOME MARKETING

It's really stupid because you can already hook up an external SSD for current consoles and you probably want to if you own enough games because the default storage goes really damn fast if you use it for anything more than a Forza/Bloodborne machine

you can install an internal SSD in current consoles too, it doesn't make a dramatic difference like on PC.
The PS4 doesn't even have real SATA.

>REEEEEEE THEY DIDN'T GIVE ME EVERY SINGLE DETAIL OF THE PS5
autism

Sony claims that their SSD will be faster than what you can buy today because it will use PCIe 4.0. Consumer PCIe devices are launching this year.
Also launching this year is PCIe 5.0, so by the time you can actually get a PS5 with a PCIe 4.0 64GB/S SSD, someone building a PC will be able to buy PCI 5.0 components with a 128 GB bandwidth.

Five of those games sold over 10 million.

>the PS3 is a 1080p console
>this is real in-game footage guys
>the xbox one will get more powerful with time using the infinite power of the cloud
>the PS4 is a 1080p console
>you will be able to instantly demo any PS4 game on the store with a click of a button
>the PS4 pro is a 4k console

Imagine owning a console in the current year...
Imagine freaking out over technology PC's had long ago...
Imagine jacking off to ray tracing and 4k when you can't even get a solid 30 FPS yet
How do people do it? Its just a fucking waste of money at this point and anything worth playing is already ported over to PC

Attached: 1550903739308.jpg (250x250, 6K)

On an install base of 80 Million
Meanwhile, Switch games are selling 7-13 million on an install base of 22 million.

You know m.2 is just a form factor, right? An SSD in m.2 or 2.5" is going to work at the same speed.

If PS5 can do good raytracing then Navi is just the fucking tits and we'll be enjoying that shit in July of this year.
AMD must really be shitting on nvidia with god tier cards yet to be released if this is the case.

Imagine paying 5x the price of a console to only get half assed ports years later

>you can put a ssd even on a ps3 dumbass

There are people on Yea Forums who never owned a PC in their life.

>10k$ pc with last tech cant run bloodborne
>200$ 5yo console can
How that makes you feel?

>muh attract rate

Lol same argument used when people said Wii U was a failure

oh top of having to pay 59.99 separately per year just to play online when you ALREADY are paying for an internet connection....
anyone wanna defend this?
>you're just poor!
huh thats weird I thought PC's were 5 thousand dollars..

Attached: 1552521294920.png (500x322, 42K)

Most people reffer m2 as a nvme ssd which is in fact faster than the regular ssd/m2 ssd

>online its not mandatory

Meanwhile PCs make you pay way higher electricity bill, much less then $60 a year :)

AND LESS HACKERS

Attached: stromverbrauch_2740631.jpg (699x359, 27K)

Learn to undervolt your shit Hans.
>AND LESS HACKERS
Can't have hackers when no one is playing the game after 2 weeks. Smart.

Maybe it's not even going to be PCIe 4.0. I wouldn't put it past them to use some retarded lingo about PC SSD's only being the 2.5 inch form factor ones and thinking that m.2 NVMe drives don't even count as "proper SSD's".

What are you going to do next gen, when there is no bloodborne 2?

Why do these examples always use bloodborne? Is that the only game you have?

>Is that the only game you have?
What do you think?

Attached: 4JSF2aV.png (555x800, 464K)

>Can't have hackers when no one is playing the game after 2 weeks. Smart.
Yeah a lot of PC games do have dead multiplayer so no hackers on those games :)

>no u
Low level cope.

So, first you complain 59.99 a year is too much, then you brag about spending 5k on a pc??

>THE ESS ESS DEE IS MUH SUPER SECRET POWER
>"sony hasn't even given the specs tho"
>HURRR
?
