The story and characters are much, much sillier than the first game. Most of the new jobs are cool, and there's some gameplay QoL stuff. It's been a while since I've played it though.

They literally couldn't since Airy was there the whole time. She would've murdered them all the second she got a whiff of someone trying to rat her out which is why the sage goes to great lengths to warn Tiz and Agnes in private

I prefer Second since there aren't instances of pure plot retardation like in the OP pic and there's nothing like having to repeat the main dungeons and bosses four times each like the second half of Default. Music unfortunately went from GOAT to serviceable though.

Red mage isn't that great dude. Don't get me wrong BP battery-ing is the shit but you're missing out on the highest tier of spells. Red/White on Agnes is just a waste. You should replace one for Spirit Master or Salve-Maker.

Quickly counteract with spirit ward or stillness.

It's dumb but to be fair she saw him once when he was younger and he pretty much wore the helmet for the rest of his life. Plus before the events of the game I'm pretty sure they haden't seen each other in years.

He at LEAST should have had a different hairstyle when the helmet was knocked off. Seeing that pomp under the helmet was retarded and also how the FUCK did he not recognize himself in the fight.

Second has much more interesting classes but worse everything else. Final boss is still pure kino, though.

a quick tip for if you need levels

A summoner (probably your fastest character) with the class that gives you free lunch can make level/money grinding a breeze

just have brave 4 turns then
free lunch
Summon X3, the whole group should be wiped out , then just turn auto battle on and you're good to go

Nah, even if you dislike stuff like the writing and the music, the graphics and dungeons are undeniably better, the dungeons in particular actually have elevations and look entirely distinct (at least the new ones) rather than looking like they were all made with the same level editor using different tilesets like in Default.

I remember getting my ass handed to me by Chaugmar so I had to set it to Easy. On my second run, since I knew what I was doing, I utilized the Performer's buffs and actually used shields instead of unga Two-Handed. That boss fight actually became enjoyable.

Also soloing that super strong boss on the shortest route to the Eternian Central Command with a Ninja because Utsusemi + Comeback Kid + Transience + Turn Tables is balanced.
