The Black ops 3 campaign had something similar to this where you collect items during the campaign and the relevant items become items you can place in your room before you go out on missions.
If you play with friends you can also see what they put on their walls. It was neat.

Part of the reason why I like older CRPG's like Baldur's Gate, this shit was gold. I think Dark Souls sort of does it but I don't think many games do it nowadays which is a shame.
