why is sony so afraid to make another handheld? the psvita was way ahead of it's time and could've been a success but due to lack of promotion and the memory card being worth too much it failed. Sony is capable of making a handheld that can beat the switch.

Well twice in a row they made a bunch of fuckups in terms of design elements and continued first party support so maybe "capable" is like the exact opposite of the right word for it.

Because handhelds now have to compete with smartphones because of the nvidia shield, game streaming, and fortnite/pubg mobile.

Because the handheld market is falling down thanks to the mobile gaming, Sony is making huge profits from that Fate/Grand Order game in Japan.

The only reason why the Switch is selling well its because of the hybrid gimmick, had it been just a portable it wouldn't reach the half of what it sold now.

Switch screen size and resolution is fine, but it needs to be built into a uniform body or clam-shell design

Everyone has a cell phone now and nintendos main console is a portable. Its better to just have them focus on a home console because they're dominating xbone so to let up now would be retarded. Im sure the PS5 will have backwards compatability with all other playstations just to take away the one advantage the xbone has left over the PS, that being its backwards compatibility.

It's also worth noting that the DS was an anomaly.

Great mobile hardware, good screen for its time, decent battery life all things considered, nice touchscreen. Sure, the trackpad is ass, but that's just something that rarely got used anyways.
