The depiction of firearms in Persona 5 and in its Smash crossover is miles away from the depiction of firearms in Doom. I mean, I guess they technically COULD do it as long as you're willing to just completely neuter all of the graphic violence that Doom is known for.

But that doesn't matter anyway since Doomguy is a no-hoper and always has been. The boomer bandwagon doesn't have any impact on anything.

I think they should make Doomguy's mechanic revolve around drawing a random weapon with a neutral B. Can get a rocket launcher, SSG, or plasma, all have limited ammo. Can't pull out weapons en mass, has a cooldown. You can return your weapon to reduce the cooldown of drawing the next. The idea would be to use whatever you draw, you can return it when it runs out of ammo to quickly draw another, but if you return it too soon, you'll still have some cooldown to sit through.

Weapons are items that can be knocked out of your hands like others, so try not to get it stolen unless you want Pichu blasting your ass with an SSG.

Beyond his weapon mechanic, he mostly has punches and kicks, down B is a grenade. Final Smash is a berserk pack, all of his attacks hit for a little extra but his smashses dash towards enemies and home in on them a little, sort of like what you get in Doom 2016 with that rune upgrade. BFG is a rare weapon that can be pulled from Doomguy's arsenal, it has exactly one shot and is horrifically powerful, but has a windup where you can drop it if attacked with a smash.

Doom pokes enough fun at itself that he would fit in as a fish out of water type. Trailer could have him beating Ganondorf and Ridley before the sting cuts to Jigglypuff and Isabelle cracking their knuckles or something.

Shooters are still a growing niche, but there's actually a pretty decently sized community putting out WADs and things in Japan.

Regardless, it's not like Japan appeal is the be-all, end-all. Sakurai outright said Dark Samus was included because she was popular internationally.
