Remember the PSP GO bros? What if we use that idea but in a home console instead? And if it's successful, we can finally kill the physical discs!!!
>m-muh discs
fag
You really want to be a slave of the Xbox/Playstation/Nintendo digital stores you fucking faggot? That's why PC gaming is the future, consolefags are just cocksuckers who will eat all the shit these companies throw at them.
>no disc drive
>costs just as much as one that has one
????
what did they mean by this?
Welcome to the future grandpa, discs are a thing from the past xd
>Buy games from store and play it till you are content
>Can delete it and download it again in the future
>No plastic garbage taking pointless space in your house
>Eventually console gets cracked, you can manually backup your game or download a new backups to digitally archive the games you like the most
There is literally no downside to this, besides games costing the same even though there is no manufacturing/handling/shipping costs.
>hardware has less parts
>no savings for the customer
that’s just dumb
I see you haven't been keeping up with smartphones.
It's not good to reduce options.
Are they actually doing that "trade your disc for codes" thing I've heard about?
It is good to reduce options that are eventually just going to harm the environment with no real benefit. Plastic is just plastic and this over-attachment to "collections" and physical copies is just harming everybody in the long run.
TIme to move on bro, even my PS2 is connected to a hard drive filled with games, why would I ever want to go back to using discs?
>PC gaming is the future
>even my PS2 is connected to a hard drive filled with games
oh shit, how do you mod a ps2 like that?
Remember when the PSP Go did this?
You know that no one is forcing you to buy physical copies right? You can do all the shit in your post with every console of the current gen.
you literally just load the software on the hard drive and attach it with the PS2's HDD adaptor
the official one is old (PATA) though so seek out a SATA one if possible
>harm the environment
Oh dear.
even building a collection that spans a room is pissing in the wind compared to the waste the average household makes in a year
>why would I ever want to go back to using discs?
because digital on console is a fucking ripoff.
So SAD!
youtube.com
I didn't know that. Basically just load up a drive with .iso's?
They charge the same even though it costs less. That's one of the things that I never got about digital releases, other than greed. "We provide for you a convenient way of owning your shit" yeah, and a convenient way to save money. "We love the environment and now your manual is gone because of that fact" and yet I'm still paying full price for your shit. Fuck right off.
And another argument, like "oh you don't own physical copies anyways". Well shit, you have to take them from me physically. You can't just press a fucking button because I don't have the right opinions or accept your new EULA and take it all away in a second. Or lose every fucking thing in the future because I don't know, maybe you'll go away or, "we're 2 generations after" and "how could we provide services for a console so old" or shit like that. Or better yet, why not have that older version of the game? Oh that's right, because you outright replaced it and updated the one I downloaded without even asking.
Seriously digital should be just another option, not a fucking replacement. But we all know how shit goes and there will be always bullshit apologists and bullshit merchants.
You have to use a tool to copy ISOs to the drive, because they have to be in a special format. But yeah.
Read up on FreeMCboot.
Yeah, but we should force people to stop buying physical copies to reduce retarded plastic waste.
We should work towards making digital on consoles more fair to the consumer by being smart consumers, or making more noise about it. I'm not saying it's fine the way it is, I'm just saying it's the right direction.
And I rarely buy games, I pirate most of them anyway.
This.
It should be around $199.
Why would anyone buy the Xbone SAD instead of a regular Xbone?
Let's assume that Sony also makes a PS4 digital only edition, you will never be able to buy games like pic related, DriveClub and etc again. Now just imagine if this is a default thing for the next gen, do you really think that this will be a good thing for the consumer?
>implying you get manuals any more
buying games is so soulless these days
This will literally happen. Consoles are nothing more than hardware DRM boxes. There will never be alternative digital stores because of this. Sony and Microsoft have no reason to allow competition on their platform, and the service on their platform will always be shit because it's your only option.
> I'm just saying it's the right direction.
Right now it's horrible. When it's the standard it'll be even worse.
You need a map? A cool wallpaper? Want some colorful shit? Maybe a lil comic? Fuck you, here's your digital stuff that you could download without even buying the game anyways, but we'll charge you extra for it. Because PDFs are the same shit. Don't you buy eBooks goy?
Shit's stupid really.
You're arguing with an industry shill there, bud. There's no person on the other end.
