Pc gaming hardware bread

Why haven't you got a decent monitor Yea Forums? Ultra wide curvey budget boys report in.
>DURR my 1080p 60hz screen is fine
3440x1440 3.5k 100hz reee get out displaylets

Because I am poorfag.
Also, i7-4790, 32 gigs of RAM, GTX 745.

>poorfag
>32gb of ram

I got a bro deal down at the tech shop a few years back.

I don't like ultrawide or curvy because I like having multi monitor setups and neither of those things flow well into eachother
I just got a standard HD 120hz monitor, loving it so far. It's really hard to swap back and forth between it and every other computer, even just for work and browsing, just the added accuracy and smoothness from the mouse movement is a huge difference

On the hardware side, I've been rocking my 4670k setup for many years now and I think I'm gonna buy into the ryzen meme when the third generation comes out. I heard the current series of ryzen has a special edition that's guaranteed to be binned better, which is really attractive to me because my 4670k is binned like garbage and I can't overclock it at all without making it unstable

Heh I had a non k version of that CPU it bogged stuttered hard since 2016 got 30fps dips hangs and got Zen the next year never looked back
Have a 2700x now
120-240hz is too high for most high res games I'd rather have the sweet spot of 3k 100hz and get a nice big 34" screen
I only run single screen as it's fucking huge could never stand multi display bezel gap is aids

I am. Going to order LG 34GK950F soon.

Noice
Basically a upgrade from my Samsung Va 100hz panel
Enjoy its a huge fucking upgrade mate.

there was a non-k version of the 4670k? What was its base clock, did it have "turbo" or whatever intel calls it?
I'm still using my 4670k on the base/turbo clock and it's not bottlenecked anything yet, but I can see the signs; I can get 120fps in MHW but with frames uncapped it stutters every 7 seconds, though I still dunno for sure if that's my cpu or some anomalous software-hardware issue

Soz 4690 4ghz
Meme CPUs they where fast 5 years ago but absolutely dogshit at multi tasking.
Consider dropping a 4790k in if you can find it
Quad core quad thread is a really bad idea these days the stutters drove me nuts

>ultrawide shit
>curve
literally why? would rater get a normal monitor with an ips pannel instead of that dumb shit.
besides, some games don't even support ultra wide

Attached: 1516749234119.jpg (708x540, 80K)

ddr3 or ddr2 i bet

Gonna get myself a 4K monitor as soon as I got $300 to throw at one.

ultra wide is retarded since you can just force 3 screens instead for a larger resolution.

It's easy to spot the pleb with prejudiced views.

I bought both a fancy ultrawide and a 4k monitor before, took both back.
Wasn't a significant enough upgrade from my 2 1080p 120hz monitors to justify the price.
I'll wait until they really release something new and good that isn't a quick cash in on braindead tech consumers who will buy anything with a "NEW" sticker slapped on it without any research.

I mean it's a haswell obviously it's DDR3

>some games don't even support ultra wide
Most of them can be modded, you play on PC not on consoles where developers control what you can and can't do.

I don't need anything more than one Chad monitor. Besides games are more immersive that way.

>DURR my 1080p 60hz screen is fine
It is though. I have three of them, they're sufficient for my needs.

Even if you can't it still works great as a 16:9 monitor.

Movies are much better in full screen and you get a lot of real estate.

Don't get 60hz get 3k 100hz+
Nothing can drive 4k
I literally play games from the 90s with ultra wide easily your a moron everything can support it almost out of the box or with mods every game made in the last 10 years supports any resolution aspect ratio you throw at it
Ddr3
Huh?
It's literally better fov for your eyes
Normal flat panel 16:9 is around 90 or less 21:9 flat is around 100 curved ultra wide is 110+
This they haven't tried it it's literally a game changer and the best we will get until vr gets good
Sounds like your gpu was too shit.
You have terrible taste enjoy squinting over shit low dpi and crap text
Got my screen for 300usd it isn't even expensive lol
Enjoy eye strain

Attached: FOV.png (5586x3840, 898K)

Eh, I've been researching it for months now and saving for the ultrawide.

I never buy anything instantly and never think about marketing. My headphone purchases took months also.

Nah I want higher res, I don't play anything that need high refresh rate.
Also 3K is a really odd resolution, never seen anything with it before.

>Enjoy eye strain
I've been using these very monitors for the last 6 years and I'm fine. You got Jew'd and are trying to justify wasting money.

>all the morons hating on curves
Bbw Thicc monitor master race
Convex is better for your eyes not just in games
Eh I just buy what I can afford and hope the regret doesn't set in before it arrives in the post.
Turns out 4k 100hz was the best thing I ever did small screens with low dpi suck
Bigger jump than 480i-1080p imho especially freesync
Well technically it's 3440x1440 3.5k
The 100hz is doable on medium settings with a midrange card or Max with a 2080ti
Enjoy your blue light
I didn't have a problem until late night shitposting

Attached: images-1.png (690x444, 16K)

Back when I first heard about it I was also opposed to curved monitors, but that's just what you do when you haven't seen one in person.

No some cheap 1080p 60hz ancient AOC model. Suits my RX 570 nicely.
RAM was cheap as fuck until it skyrocket 3 years ago. We might see those prices again though.

That's just ultrawide 2K/1440p

>that picture
>my eyes suddenly reduce FOV when I look at a flat surface
holy shit what shitty marketer dreamt this up, and what cuckold actually believes this?

3440x1440p isn't 2k it's literally 3k if your gonna be pedantic it sits between 2k and 4k

Attached: images-2.png (856x358, 18K)

4k needs 2080 Ti for 60 fps ultra.

1440p ultrawide is 40% smaller than 4k so it's a lot easier to run and in person doesn't seem all that small.

Are you saying your eyes fucking flat? Glasses and vr are the same shape otherwise they distort the fucking image
What's next your gonna say vr is flat too?

Attached: curved-monitors-curvature.jpg (770x465, 63K)

4k just isn't doable at 60hz it's just too low refresh rate and a 2080ti struggles to get 60fps minimum in alot of games maxxed out
3k 100hz+ is a nice middle ground

I'm not saying you should poorfag with the monitor, I'm saying get the 2080 Ti regardless and enjoy 100+ fps.

I'd like an ultrawide monitor but most games/media don't support those resolutions and if there's black bars to the sides when I'm playing a game I go fucking crazy

Because I updated my desk first and I don’t know what monitors to get.

R8 My setup

Attached: fallst.jpg (4128x2064, 1.43M)

Black bars on the sides still gives you true 1440p, for no worse quality.

Jelly poorfags with busted eyesight ignore them
What games exactly? Have you tried any because your talking out of your ass
6/10 old 1080p 60hz samshit tn
What's the buttons on the right of the table for desu?
TV in front of bed + based
9/10 for loft athestics
Here's my shit I'm waiting on vesa mount hence the lumberjack stand

Attached: IMG_20190417_160301-01-01.jpg (5184x3880, 2.45M)

I guess you could get a 2060... 2070 for an ultrawide, but you would have to resort to bars more often or sooner.

Yeah I know I want to update monitors but not sure what to get.

The ones under the desk or the white block at the very right?

They are adding more and more support every day. 21:9 is one of those growing monitor segments on Steam.

Right block
Headphone amp? Dac?
Unironically the best upgrade I've ever done.
Once 8k is a thing il jump to that but 21:9 ultra wide curved 6880x2880 or whatever so around 5k

>6880x2880
Sounds that like that would need a Titan from the Geforce 40.

ultrawide is a big meme like 3D

My 1080 ran 3k ultra wide just fine
Turn settings down it handled medium-high fine
Anything below a Vega 56 or 1660ti these days is gonna struggle tho they just wherent meant for 2k+ resolutions outside of esports crap that runs on toaster and looks like poo
Wonder if nvidia is gonna skip the 3xxx series again
7nm turing is gonna be nuts no way in fuck I'll ever be able to afford it and they will put the price up even more till amd gets Arcturus off the ground.
Navi will be affordable 1080 Ti Vega 2 radeon 7nm at best perf wise priced around 500usd

Attached: 1555470296935.jpg (1079x739, 75K)

Without 3d we never would have got 120hz TV and monitor panels you ungrateful shit.
Now hdr that's fucking useless until oled xled and high res back lights none of this sub hdr 1k fald halo zone shit

Attached: dat_everything.gif (270x270, 183K)

1080ti does 4K Ultra 60fps in almost every game, poorly made ubisoft and EA shit, 4K HIgh, I do miss higher framerates tho, but 4K is the best looking resolution (within reasonable $$$) and its worth it

>120hz

144hz is where its at

Yes the two silver pieces are my Schiit stack velcro’d To the underside of the desk. The white block to the right is just a power strip that has a 15amp plug and two 2.1a USB ports for charging or plugging in my desklamp when I need it.

If they invented a 4k monitor with true scaling for 1080p (1 pixel vs 4) there would be no need to get anything else.

>32GB of DDR2

I want 240 480+
That won't happen for a long time though only game that can reach anywhere near that is csgo
Kino desk
Nah 4k 144hz is ideal but no game nor gpu on earth could do that at least within the next 2 years
Can't stand how laggy 60fps feels like 30fps to me now dropping below 100 is very noticeable

Freesync 2 should be pretty sweet I wonder if we will see and oled gaming panels soon? They could push crazy refresh rates with almost 0 latency even the best gaming panels top out at around 4ms with the midrange shit like mine around 7ms and rest is 8ms+ garbage you might as well stick at 60hz as your screen will soak up higher fps anyway
4k for movies/tv is a meme since compression tech and color depth holds them back more hdr is better for movies
Sdr 4k is better for games because more high frequency detail

Did you work for it or was it paid for by allowance money?

I call it my bogan gaming display for a reason
2 months of bennies saved for it and this

Attached: 2018082011230996_m.png (460x460, 52K)

Thanks I’m still surprised how cheap I got the desk and how nice it is.

the absolute state of techlets

i got a 1440p 165hz gsync ips monitor. perfect for me and the hardware i have. i wanted to avoid curved monitors because i felt like the distance i sit from the monitor would just make the curve introduce more distortion than a sort of panorama. and all the ultrawides with the above specs seem to be curved at the price i was looking at

Who the fuck wants to sit that far back from any screen? Your gonna be pissed when most TVs and upcoming monitors are all curved.
If you want a big screen to sit back from vr gen 2 has ultra wide fov ones coming soon

i sit on a couch, but ive set myself up so thats only about 2-3 feet. its a 27-inch monitor, andything bigger with the same specs is easily over $1000. when i move, im gonna set the monitor on an adjustable arm bracket to the side of my couch so i can have that right in front of me when i need it, and a tv across the room i can switch to. i wouldnt mind a curved tv, since theyre designed to viewed from a distance

So just get a 4k tv? They are like 200usd for a 50inch where I am
Curved is the new flat it's better for your eyes and unless your a drawfag (content creator) jewtuber patreon ebeggar faggot you won't care.
Me personally I can't wait for 8k 244hz
That don't be here till raytraced 4k is a thing and even then I doubt it will happen this decade since 4k 60hz is 6 years old and requires a 1k gpu to run

my hardware cant run 4k games at 165hz. in fact, i dont think any hardware can with modern games, certainly not consumer-level hardware

got a 1440p 165hz 27' tn panel with g-sync

g-sync sucks though because on "low-medium" refresh rates like 120/144/165 you can still feel the sync delay in e-sport fps games. I'd imagine on a 240hz you won't, but you will also be hardstuck on 1080p. for casual games g-sync is great, but don't fall for the marketing lies. if you go ~30-40 lower than fps gsync cap you will have stutters and lag. so for 165hz with 163 maxfps, if you dip below 120 you will suffer

Oh no shit it absolutely pointless
Gsync is dead and freesync 2 hdr is forging ahead
Hopefully prices will come down on the high Hz 4k screens one they become the new normal taking over from 2k shit
1440p below 3k is literally a stop gap
All the big bois are 3k and over
2560x1080p just doesn't have the pixel density for 30-50+ monitors

Freesync and fast vsync doesn't have this problem and I'm only at 100hz
God I can't believe I put up with that stutter for so long.
48fps minimum is fine as long as it's a frame a sec or two in a non twitchy game

What is the best monitor for me to get to game at 1440?

>freesync 2 hdr
fuck, hadnt heard about that before. i hope theyll support nvidia cards like a few of the current freesync monitors

>ultrawide
no thx I prefer to be able to see everything my gpu has to render, not waste it on peripheral unfocused vision
my 1440 144 is fine

I got an ultra wide and love it, it really feels right for using a PC. I just wish Windows had better windowing options.

great except for the absolutely terrible color on the chair. dye that shit or something at least. the rest of your shit has a warm color to it, why would you choose neon green to clash as hard as possible with everything else?

I find that at 144Hz, screen tearing is almost imperceptible. I can see it, just not enough to be distracting.
