>"Competition in stores is going to be absolutely best for consumers and probably good for developers and publishers as well. The stores that tend to win are the stores that offer the best to their customers."
t. Randy Pitchford, in defense of the Epic Store, which competes through exclusive titles, NOT features of the platform itself
>How will PClards ever recover? Pretty easily: piracy of said titles
Blake Howard
But this is the exact type of shit that has been going on in the console industry since its conception. Well, it's not that bad yet, since PC gamers do not have to purchase a 400+ dollar piece of hardware to go along with the exclusives.
William Kelly
>But this is the exact type of shit that has been going on in the console industry since its conception That's the point. One of the few draws that PC had was that it was open and not limited. Then Steam came along. Now Steam is being left behind for an even less consumer friendly DRM infested loader.
Angel Foster
>Competition I wish they would stop using that word.
>cucked by Epic What do you mean? They paid the devs for us so we can have the game free
Carson Morales
>Competition What Epic is doing isn't competition. It's literally buying all the goods so other stores can't sell them. It's like playing ball with 5 friends, getting picked last and just buying the ball off your friend and going home with it.
Lincoln Butler
>developers spend the entirety of gen 7 to now going ''fuck consumers, buy our shit and dont ask questions'' by introducing every fucking form of kikery >suddenly they expect me to think about the poor developers and publishers having to pay a little extra money hahahaha fuck you
oh no, the chinamen will have exclusive access to a strictly B-tier looter-shooter that's ran by an embezzling conman with delusions of being a AAA production. whatever will i do? i guess i could play Destiny 2 or Warframe or AnthemAHAHAHAHAHAHA or any of the other exact same shit borderlands is but without the writing talents of the SJW cartel's Anthony Burch and his sister
Carson Thompson
what is he looking at
Angel Rivera
>tfw consolefag so I can buy BL3 without worrying about any of this dumb shit
Landon Stewart
I'd be more tolerant of all this Epic Game Store nonsense if the devs and publishers would just come out and say, "Well we forsee us getting more money because of Unreal engine deals and Epic paying us" rather than all this inanity about "good for the consumer"
Wanting to make more money isn't a totally objectionable motive motive, or something like how Nintendo is behind funding of Bayonetta 2/3 and it otherwise wouldn't get made is understandable, but trying to dress it all up as "It's good for you" as if this shit wasn't basically arbitrary and could've been released on any and all storefronts if not for EGS making a deal with the publishers is just distasteful. I'd have more respect if Randy or whoever on other games dealing with the Epic Store fiasco had just left it at, "the publisher made this deal, not us" and just went back to doing whatever their actual job detailed.
He just saw an interesting toilet to take a selfie with
Gavin Butler
pirate everyone knows epic games is weak to piracy, just look at the attitude to PC during the mid 2000s
Liam Bailey
>Tencent is a totally irrelevant factor because they only own 48% of the company, they practically don't exist!
Thomas Collins
Remember to filter Epic threads
Matthew Reed
>hey there gamer, stop being so entitled and preorder this $80 deluxe edition with a $50 season pass and microtransactions devs have burned up so much goodwill yet they expect us to care about them, it's amazing
Julian Rivera
>Randy and Gearbox are blacklisted by just about everyone because of shit like Colonial Marines, as well as Randy's behavior in general Are you that surprised that he's taking a massive payout from China?
Blake King
the problem is not that it's not on steam, the problem is that epic games is garbage, you epic drones can't seem to understand that
Oliver Brown
Do you also complain when your favourite brand of cereal is only sold at a specific grocery store?
Blake Williams
yes who the fuck wants to drive to more than one store to do grocery shopping?
Jonathan Torres
"citation needed"
Parker Lewis
heck yeah, walmart till they day I RIP muthufu@$azzz
Wyatt Jenkins
Yes? It's annoying as fuck to not be able to get every food and general sundries at one grocery store, and even more egregious than a digital storefront because it's a waste of gas.
I'm not asking for everything to be Walmart or Target but goddamn it'd be nice to be able to grab all the shit I need in one counter-clockwise roll around a store.
Carter James
>devs There's that word again
Noah Sanders
Yeah, but what about European solidarity?
Jordan Martinez
I think the best part of this is seeing how dead every non-Fortnite MP game is on the Tencent store.
Angel Butler
it's even worse if you don't have a car, imagine having to catch a bus or a train to go between stores while carrying that crap around
Jeremiah Long
You bet your ass that every actual store worth its money tries to listen to your complaints and improvements and actually WANTS you as their customer. My local super market flat out started ordering (small quantities, though) more uncommon products after people asked for them.
Every time this man opens his mouth it gets easier to skip Borderlands 3.
Andrew Collins
yes, they add transaction fees for certain countries so it's not cheaper steam eats those fees but epic doesn't because it would make their cut nonviable
Logan Anderson
Yes. Here in England games are 39.99, usually 34.99 on pc. Epic charged 49.99 for Metro exodus. They can get fucked
