>isn't afraid of pumping out shit after shit for everything else
>"b-but what if we fail to meet expectations with a new splinter cell? :("
What a fucking joke

That and how do you make a stealth heavy game stand out when so many games on the market have (pretty bad) stealth mechanics?

"Just make GOOD stealth" is not a super helpfulnanswer.

doesnt help at all that companies have this notion that stealth games are unprofitable. They arent satisfied to give a niche title a tight budget and let it do consistently well. Such is life.

They're saying its too scary to make a stealth game without optional epic michael bay explosions and run n gun segments.

They're more afraid about not meeting shareholder expectations, they don't give a shit about user expectations beyond how they translate to sales.

Blacklist was good. You could go full stealth no kills or guns blazing or stealth kills. Game had a playstyle for everyone.
Why not make the new game like that?

Only ever played Conviction. How was it because I honestly don't remember anything about it except that awful military flashback.

It was way too action oriented. Blacklist is better balanced in playstyles.

Seems you weren't around when it launched, most anons here hated it.

unironically this. If ubisoft knew for sure splinter cell would sell well enough it'd be on the yearly release timeline like asscreed, far cry, and all the other franchises they milk for everything they're worth.

>blacklist is good meme
Cope

They hated it because it had several options to finish the mission instead of one ultra stealth with no kills?

You know what's even worse lads?
>360 version got supported on Xbone
>not the OG version
It sucks we're never getting this release on anything

>Ubisoft
No thanks. I have no idea how they'll find a way to ban you for racism in a single player stealth-em-up but they will.

No splinter cell should have day light missions

Racist to hide in the shadows.

Oh you are one of those.

Using goggles in blacklist wasn't even necessary half the time

I thought it was a shitty cover shooter/ Mass Effect 3 clone. Seriously, first thought: what the fuck, this is mass effect 3, lol. Still had my fun though. Remember the FPS gimmick section and the karambit!!? Very cool!

Asscreed and far cry games will always have mass appeal
Stealth games already are niche as fuck and making a bad stealth game just going to lose them a lot if money and time because it's not going to sell AT ALL. They can make a bad AC/FC game and still sell it because of brand name alone.
And even then, how do you make a good one? When was the last time an actually good stealth action game was released?

is there anyone left from the original trilogy days at modern Ubisoft Montreal?

Blacklist was fun imo, although I'm sure purists hate it

Samantha Fisher is going to be epic.

lol fuck no, most of them left after Double Agent or during Double Agents production and even of those most have left the industry entirely in the 15~ years since.

Conviction was fucking awful, Sams dead daughter gets retconned, third echelon is BIG BAD for like the 3rd fucking time, and the stealth and gunplay is awful
coop is god tier though

If your gonnna play a splinter cell game, ATLEAST blacklist comes closer to the originals then conviction does.

This post best post.

Ubisoft's higher ups are the ones pulling the strings. If they aren't making the shareholders happy, no one is happy

>either or
Fuck you, and fuck that jack of all trades piece of shit of a game.

>caring what Yea Forums thinks
lmao

they havent been able to surpass chaos theory nor pandora's tomorrow since those released so yeah

You need 4 things to make a good splinter cell game

>Banter during missions to keep things lite
>Michael Ironside
>Cool new gadgets to experiment with different gameplay styles
>Michael Ironside

why not just make another blacklist?
it was really underrated
especially here

their trying to think of a way to remake the game that fits their current business plan

which is support that game until it turns a profit
oh and season passes divided by years that add in extra story content

They mean SALES expectations

You mean release a shitty shell of a game and sell it piece by piece

sure, whatever you wanna call it

Literally take chaos thaory and build on that. You can't possibly fuck that up. Make slightly bigger maps and better ai etc.

Conviction was fine as a spin off game but it wasn't a splinter cell game at all.

>Blacklist was goo because it was inclusive

They fucking should worry after what they did to splinter cell starting from double agent.
The choice of stealth or action makes everything worse underage user. Blacklist was a fucking joke of a game, a third person shooter with """stealth""" elements tossed in. The stealth mechanics were barely functional surface level only. Enemy AI is retarded and incompetent. They're churned out trash with none of the care or quality that went into OG splinter cell especially chaos theory which is a genuine masterpiece game.
Wrong and retarded
Correct and intelligent.

>underage user
32 btw
I've played them all. Didn't like double agent. I'm glad they don't just release same game over and over and change stuff even if spergs don't like it and want CT all the time.
Keep seething I guess.

just make 7-8 ground zeroes style playgrounds

This.

And as much as i'd love to see an 80's Cold War era Splinter Cell of Chaos Theory's calibre, it'll never happen.

At least I can always larp in Convictions Deniable Ops mode, even if the game itself is pretty shit.

Conviction was good.

Prey on stealth mode was a lot of fun.

No

Honestly if they just remastered chaos theory and revived the spies vs Mercs multiplayer I would pay full price for it

I liked it therefore it is good.

does chaos theory work on pc with a friend online through like hamachi or some shit?

hitman

>Conviction
>Good

>Black and white meme, can literally do most levels just walking around upright because of how grossly simplified the shadow/stealth system is
>Shitty magnetic interaction system just flies you around to grab pipes and shit
>Can't move bodies
>Zero risk insta kill melee within a fuck huge radius no matter how exposed you are
>Melee, Mark, Mark, Execute, Repeat level design for the entire fucking game meaning it's painfully hands off and requires absolutely no finesses or skill on the players part
>Linear level design
>Awful story

You must be a special kind of drooling fucktard.

Yeap.

>meet the expectations=we can't figure out a way to add microtransactions

I thought I was losing it, I replayed double agent recently and was wondering what the fuck was up, completly different game from what I remembered, didn't even occur to me that there could be multiple versions

Didn't Pandora Tomorrow have a daylight mission?

Gay

the only good thing about conviction was the last part of the co-op campaign

With the rumors about maybe getting another Splinter Cell and Microsoft enhancing all the 360 splinter cell games, maybe they will just straight up reveal it at E3. Windows exclusive.

The only worthwhile thing in Conviction is Deniable Ops

Translation = We don't think we're competent enough to make a Splinter Cell game that will be profitable.

At least we have Ghost Recon

Fuck you and fuck the cunt who says at least we have Rainbow Six as well.

But mostly FUCK UBISOFT.

fpbp

I thought that franchise died.

Conviction is trash, Deniable Ops is a solid 6/10.

are there any AA / indie games that have tried to recreate the feeling of the older SC games?

Attached: chrome_2019-04-17_23-49-06.png (901x858, 1.11M)

PSP is a different game as well.

Styx

Styx is a stealth game, and a solid one at that, but it's really nothing like the older Splinter Cell games.

1. Sam Fisher is now an Innuit blind girl with night vision augmentations that let her see
2. Its open world like MGSV
3. The game has an easy mode and a very easy mode
4. Sam has to take down the Ornge Man regime

thank me later ubisoft

aka SC isn't an RPG so they don't have an excuse to sell cosmetics and level boosts.

just experiment with a smaller budget

>stealth games need to compensate for people who hate stealth
oh, you’re one of those

>1. Sam Fisher is now an Innuit blind girl with night vision augmentations that let her see

Unironically sounds pretty fucking great.
