Yes, during Wii U era some games released outside of Japan were censored. Nintendo games, censored by Nintendo of America or NoE. First party games censored. Yet, no third party games were censored by Nintendo, since that's what CERO or ESRB or PEGI were for. And even then, some of the NoE or Japan releases weren't censored at all.
Compare this to current Sony, which not only censors their own games. Not only censors their own games everywhere. They demand censorship of all releases, third party too, no matter what CERO, PEGI or ESRB say is good or bad.
