If he needs fixing, it would have to be buffs to lower-skilled players, and nerfs to higher-skilled players. This sounds terrible, but the issues with Sniper is that poor players become dead weight and the best players completely stop the game.

I tried lads, I really did.
I just cant play TF2 anymore outside of the weekends when the good communities come alive.
I really wanted to like casual, I was hoping they could at least make it on-par with quick-play. But ever match I've played has either been a boring as sin wipe from my team or an annoying as hell wipe from the enemy team.
Why did they ever have to replace Quck-play in the first place?
It needs another way into the Intel area, and another way around, instead of just the sewers and bridge.

What would it do? I'm thinking it could have no swing, but will be held out while M1 is pressed, and do constant damage, but drain a charge while held, which recharges quickly when released. The DPS should be lower than hitting every shot with stock, but higher if you miss a shot or two.
Then it could heal allies from debuffs instantly, and give a speed boost to both Medic and patient when it does.
The issue is making that second part actually useful. Why pull out your melee when you could continue to heal and cut the timer by half anyway? And giving Uber on removing a debuff would be too good, considering one class is all about debuffs. I just know it would fit the theme perfectly, and that's what matters.

I should also add there's an enormous amount of ways for every single class to stop even an incredible Sniper without having to switch to Sniper:

Almost all of which I have used, and they work. But it's much easier for theorycrafters to whine for nerfs than to actually play the game.

+Buff all revolvers to do 10-20 more damage at maximum ramp up, all other values stay the same
+able to immediately cloak on successful backstab(not allowed on the DR)
+Backstabs on ubered targets drain ubercharge
+fix disguise bugs, allow for fake shooting, reloading, scoping and revving
+increase MS to slightly higher than Medic
+Sapper can now be thrown, mainly to counter minis
+REVERT THE FUCKING AMBASSADOR NERF
+make new watch that can let you phase through enemies and objects while invis at huge cloak costs. Will help counter dispenser walling on stairs.
+overrall faster decloak times
Even then he'll still be bad when compared to sniper. His design just doesn't work in comp play.

I guess my problem with sniper is that it feels cheap that he can instantly kill any class from any range while hiding behind his entire team for virtually zero risk compared to the only other class with instakill (spy needs to literally be right next to his target).
Maybe I can admit he's balanced in the game but getting killed by a sniper never really *feels* fair, which is a shitty reason for a nerf but it does make the game subjectively less fun for a lot of players if the other team has a good sniper, or god forbid a fucking botter.

80% of a pro sniper's game is crosshair placement due to how much they play a map.
Throw them in a new map and you wont be instantly cucked 24/7.
Snipers are "broken" now because these people have thousands of hours on him with insane muscle memory for crosshair placements on all "standard" maps.
They've literally just gotten good.

Everyone is already paranoid. But seeing a revving heavy or scoped in Sniper will definitely help in buying you time to act.

And unless you're going to give the sniper rifle projectile the utterly bullshit head hitboxes the Lucksman has, Sniper would become so unreliable as to be literally unusable.
Add that to your mini-crits on headshots below 50% charge and nobody would pick him ever again. He would actually manage to be a worse class choice than Spy.

Sniper isn't the strongest class in the game. Medic, Demo, Scout and Soldier are all better classes the majority of the time.
If it's fairness grounds there's still an enormous amount of ways you can beat him. It's only unfair when you're playing by Sniper's rules, when you're playing by your rules and using a vast array of unlocks like charged Cow Mangler shots he literally can't reliably counter, it's unfair for him.
Plus Sniper is a lot fairer than pretty much any other sniper class in vidya.

I also want it. It'd literally only a buff, and will trick some people, no matter how much you disagree. But it's also fair and doesn't come out of nowhere.

Spy currently will 100% be guarenteed to die after a pick if a team has basic communication skills.
He needs a way to circumvent that, being able to instantly decloak gives him a chance to disappear safely or ride and surf damage to safety. It's not guarenteed but it's actually something.
So what do you main user ?
Because it's a nine class game and Sniper fits in well.
If he needs changes, they should make bad Snipers a bit better and the best Sniper a bit worse, even if that sounds dumb.

Now that I read it all, it mostly seems fine.
But draining Ubercharge on Ubered players, the revolver buff, and movement speed increase seem a bit much.
Also, disguises should provide the same resistance as invisibility, I like the sliding sappers as ammo idea someone's been shilling and you mentioned a bit of, and most of his guns should get some changes.
And just add more fucking weapons. Unpredictability is the Spy's greatest advantage.

The reason his design doesn't work in comp play full-time is because he relies on the element of surprise to get a kill, but once he gets a kill, he has to wait a long time to catch the enemy by surprise again, during which time he is useless.
If he had something useful to do while waiting for the enemy team to drop their guard, he would finally be a good class full time.

meh, if you saw him do it you can still shoot the general area he was and follow him. All it does is mimic the kunais bonus health or the speed of the big earner.
I wouldn't mind a Sapper Replacement that was basically a "Bag of Tricks" kind of deal - something that you swapped out that let you poison medkits, boobytrap ammo kits, and plant little spy cameras that shows enemies through walls for your team within a small area.

You can't exactly follow a spy when he just disappeared after a backstab.
It wouldn't cloak on a kill, it would allow you to clock immediately after a backstab.
As it is, after a backstab, you can't cloak the second you click M2 after killing, it has a half-second timer, which isn't present after shooting or sapping.
If he had better recon options and a few more ways to help his team, like slid sappers being ammo, he would have a bit more to do while waiting for the paranoia to wear off.

Huntsman has more luck and less skill involved in using it than the Sniper Rifle. It has a larger head and body hitbox to work with, and more luck involved in whether the enemy player decides to press A or D at the given moment the projectile reaches their location.
With the Sniper Rifle, if you click their head accurately with perfect skill, they WILL die; whereas they may not die with Huntsman even if you correctly tracked their position and lead their path to the height of human ability, because if they suddenly decide to stop, it doesn't matter how well you lead the shot.
If you click inaccurately with the Sniper Rifle and miss the head hitbox, they won't die. But you can click inaccurately with the Huntsman and they still walk into your projectile anyway, and you still get the kill (this happens a lot around corners).
Those buffs arent anything crazy and would be QOL
Revolver buff allows Spy to not risk a clusterfuck roulette fail stab attempt and just off a target with aim
Instant decloak rewards Spy for doing something that is genuinely hard in comp but isnt broken as afterburn, and his low 125hp will usually spell death unless you surf or miraculously dodge everything
Backstabs on Uber targets finally let's Spy do something that no other class can do and still keeps medic and the enemy on their toes when ubered.
Sapper throw is QOL and will help with minis mostly. You'll be able to throw and forget and fight the 150hp engie instead of having to sap it first while dodging bullets as Mini Engies roam with their gun.
Ignore the downsides I guess and ignore that Spy is frail and still subject to afterburn and getting 2 shotted by explosion boys

That's the Medic that's the issue, not the Soldier.
Medic turns a fun 1v1 into a 2v1 where the other player is much more likely to win just because they have a friend standing nearby with a medigun bumping up their numbers constantly

sniper is the strongest class in highlander next to demo. sniper is the offclass choice that is seen as most reliable in top lvl in 6s to get something done.
I don't play tf2 much anymore. everytime I get asked to post I stop playing.
It honestly just takes a week of practice and your muscle memory will get you up to 99% of shots. I'm mostly saying this because it felt unfair to play against.

The playerbase clearly doesn't want to play on community servers period. They're fucking dead. The truth is most of the playerbase is just lazy/stupid and only uses matchmaking because it's the first thing on the main menu not because anybody particularly likes it. It would take a huge fuckup on valves part for the playerbase to migrate back to community servers.

I play medic because I like getting sick cross map heals with the crossbow and also coordinating with a team to drop in on an enemy's well defended choke point and decimate it all before falling back, regrouping. Then doing it again as we roll forward to victory.
Yeah they changed the way the drop system works to stop people who use idle servers and used to abuse them for hat drops.

Bots do literally nothing. You can't sell basic drops on the Steam marketplace, nor would anybody buy shit basic yellow-text weapons anyway. Super rare drops like hats are only worth a penny (and Unique quality, so again, you can only sell them on third party sites) and they too are worth less than a penny. There's a billion of them in circulation. There are promo codes on third party item selling sites to fucking give them away with your purchase, totally free, because they can't get rid of them. Combined with all of this, you are limited to 7 drops per week, and new accounts can't trade items without a Steam store purchase (not marketplace, store, as in games) that is 30 days old.
To make ANY profit with a legion of bots, you would have to pray that out of the thousand items on the loot table you get a name tag because this is literally the one item — again, one out of a thousand — that will sell and even then it's only forty cents. Yes I just used an em dash, I googled that shit to make my point because hearing this shit about bots from people who don't know anything keeps popping up and it's fucking annoying. And no, trade site bots also aren't in-game, as all trading can be done through the Steam client. So there's literally zero functional use for a bot, never mind a thousand of them.

Most of those solutions require you to actively alter your loadout for 1 class. Almost no other class in the game has require this. There is also the problem that using these methods will often leave you vunrable to other classes and in some cases you won't even be able to use the alternative method to kill the sniper.

There is not much heavy can do besides equipping the fists of steel and running to the next point of cover. If the sniper is well defended there is not much scout can do besides bonk to the next point of cover.

Spawn Wallhacks completely make the Spy unusable even in casual valve server and it is 100% counter intuitive to how his gameplay works with no possible way for the player to account for it.
Enemies respawning and for an undetermined time can see 2 of the same character moving around, call it out on mic, or even see you declock halfway across the map where you think you're safe.
Spy already had hard counters like liquids and Pyro just existing, but Spawn wallhacks to gives everyone the ability to spycheck the ENITRE FUCKING MAP without the Spy being able to change up their gameplay to accommodate for the fact that their position and identity have been exposed unbeknownst to them.
Spy was shit as a class before but now he is literally a wasted class that is hard countered BY THE BASIC MECHANICS OF THE FUCKING GAME NOW.

Spawn wallhacks shouldn't even work on Spies. It would be better if he just didn't have the outline at all. It would be a form of spychecking itself, but it would require line of sight of the Spy while you have the wallhacks on and would therefore be something the player can actually account for, not just be some automatic filter for spies for all classes.

And fucking Last on ANY CP or PL is fucking impossible to get into position because of the proximity to spawn any time I decloak a newly spawned enemy makes its their lifes mission to kill me knowing i'm a spy once my position gets exposed by the obvious decloak animation. And you HAVE to be disguised in those sentry infested last, so you don't have a choice.
You're essentially forced to use the C&D on last if you want to try and assassinate an engie nest without issue because stock will run out and you'll get wallhacked while running for resources.
Back in the day you used to be able to go to the stairwell at last on Barnblitz and sorta reorganize before you tried to go in for your saps or stabs, but literally every time I try and go there without C&D I am ended on the spot by spawnhackers.
And then on the opposite end of the spectrum, if I am respawning I am metriculously using that resource to spycheck and talk over the mic to alert everyone and it makes enemy spies moot. This ability when used completely deletes the utility of a spy into the niche of just getting a one-off 3 minute set up C&D kill, because otherwise you have to not only keep track of Line of Sight, Pyros, your Cloak resources, and position/respawning of ammo, but also on all dead peoples respawn meter at the top to when they spawn so you know when to cloak back
