BetterSADX does a good job of getting the Dreamcast aesthetic back for Sonic Adventure 1, and with the extra content from DX, I consider it the definitive version. Nothing similar is available for SA2 Battle, but it was mostly a faithful port so I dont mind.

Basically over the years Sonic R gained a bad reputation because every reviewer didn't know how to play the game. Nobody seems to know the shoulder buttons exist to make sharper turns so they just assume the game plays like a brick. I think JonTron kinda started it.

It's alright. The Chao garden and Sonic/Shadow stages are kino, Knuckles and Rouge stages are alright, and Eggman and Tails stages are hit and miss, with Tails being mostly misses. The music is phenomenal, and the aesthetics are very nice. There is also a pretty deep multiplayer in the Battle version.

Some parts are great. The Sonic / Shadow stages and the Chao Garden are definitely the highlights. The mech stages and the treasure hunting stages are pretty ass though

Before you rage about how much of a slow piece of shit Tails/Eggman are the game heavily encourages exploring stages as you get powerups during the "main" story which makes trying to get good scores pointless until you've gotten all the stages unlocked. Doing so allows you to go back and explore which unlocks cool hidden items which allow you to find even more cool shit like hidden paths, rare animals to feed your stat slave chao or even an incentive to play the missions which unlike the previous game do neat stuff like allow you to play hard mode with rearranged enemies. It's definitely a much longer/rewarding game than Adventure was just by that fact alone. Also Rouge and Knuckles stages are not nearly as bad as people make them out to be.

I'd say Knuckles stages are easier and Rouge stages are hard mode, really crazy difficult.
I can see why people criticize the forced sequentialism of the radar but honestly what difference does it make if you like the core gameplay of treasure hunting---you wouldn't feel like it's that much a waste of time.
But the levels are almost all interesting and fun to go through.

Anyway, I think it's Adventuresgaf that rag on Adventure 2's treasure hunting. I can't imagine a SA2 fan disliking them.

Everyone with a brain pretty much agrees Sonic died when the dreamcast died with the first bad game being Heroes. The handheld games from 2000-2012 were all great though.

LC-Kun seemed to be the one who started it the hardest when Mania came out by switching back and forth as falseflagging as either a maniafag or adventurefag, jumping between /sthg/ and Yea Forums. Using the word "majority" is misleading.
For example, I think the first two Sonic Riders games are fantastic, but other people for some reason have gripes with one or both.
Meanwhile I wouldn't defend any of the Wii games.
At a certain point, it comes down to preference---not everything is cut and dry like acknowledging Shadow the Hedgehog was a bad game.

It doesn't matter what their original plan was they split them up in the end so they are separate games.

there is no hidden quality in Unleashed, It either clicks or not, the boost wasn't a good thing on the long run, but the game that made best use of it was imo good. Plus Unleashed had even harder DLC stages.
I can't defend Heroes though. Played it only once and couldn't revisit it because the stages were tedious.

Treasure levels are great IMO. I liked the hint system, it made the levels more interesting, I watched a video complaining that it took 15 minutes for this guy to complete pumpkin hill, so its bad - unless you are not reading hints and possiblyt have the mind of a child i cant see how it would take that long
