I love this game because I played it for years when I was a kid with my brothers. Taking ages to complete, exploring every single part of each area, hunting skulls etc.

When I play it now, I’m reminded of that time. The game also has a great story and for the time, the combat is really good and graphics are very acceptable.

I can literally play this game 2-3 times a year and enjoy it the same each time, what other games can do that without being moddable? Except pic related?

Zelda is an overrated *okay* series, but massively inflated because it's Nintendo's only good franchise.

OP's pic alone is massively overrated, there were so many better playstation games that gen such as FF7, MGS1, Silent Hill, Resident Evil 2, but nintendo fans focus on this overrated kid's game instead.

It doesn't have the best combat ever made. It doesn't have the best puzzles ever made it. It doesn't have the best story ever made. It's still significant though because it manages to be a well-made game for the time. Personally, I think there are other games from the same era, like Mario 64, which are better. In fact, Mario is better than Zelda pretty consistently throughout any period of time.

I played both it and Majora's Mask back when it came out. It's not a bad game, it's just there are much better games on the playstation on the same era and the only reason the zelda games get so much inflated praise is nintendo fanboyism.

It's actually got quite a bit more tragedy than most Zelda stories. The world literally gets fucked and it's up to Link to try and pick up the pieces again with nobody knowing who he is.

I think it's fine as a connective tissue between the different areas. When people say it's bland, they're viewing it as another area of the game, when really it's just there as a way to access all of the areas in a way that makes the world cohesive.

But I did play it user, and I've beat it quite a few times, it's a very vanilla zelda game. It's not a bad game just nowhere near being the GOAT everyone says it is

I get most of my complaints are because of old hardware, and are fixed in the 3D port, it's just that OOT isn't the GOAT but it's still a good game

Nintendo has always had old hardware, the story is instantly forgettable the only cool thing was character design and music, hyrule field IS ass and the prerendered backrounds are a fucking abomination, hyrule market looks like cowabunga dog shit

lets be honest: it was a masterpiece of its time and set the bar for all future 3D games but it's pretty aged by now and people mostly just play it these days for nostalgia and entertaining glitches

If you're judging a remake I think you have to judge it by different metrics. You have to look at it and say "what did they do to elevate the original?", and really OoT 3D didn't do that much. It just added a few quality of life changes.

The only reason people liked walking dead season 1 is because it was their first telltale game, so people didn't pick up on just how little their choices actually mattered. As soon as you play another the cracks show and you can see just how little they really did matter. You save Ben in season 1 and you get a scene of him and Kenny arguing and a different "death" scene for Kenny. You save Nick in season 2 and he gets about 2-3 lines of dialogue and dies off screen. It certainly didn't help that to have Clementine be MC and as such get forced to do gameplay they made everyone retarded, like two adults can't figure out how to turn off a turbine so Clementine has to do it, and all it involves is just

Watch any gameplay video for 5 minutes. Now remember that it looks even worse on a CRT. Now remember that it ran worse on the N64 (frame rate drops). Mario 64 was substantially cleaner.

Instead of condensing the gameplay into a nice 2D world like A Link to the Past you had to ride the stupid horse across fields of blury browns. The characters were so low poly it's hard to figure out what species they are.

No, the dungeons are not as good as you remember.

The best part of polls like these is the knowledge that there are people literally shouting at their screen at the thought of OoT being confirmed to be the greatest game of all time over and over and over again, and not a single thing they do will ever change that.

Can't speak for the rest of the board but here's a breakdown on why I hate OoT:
