Take out the guitar first, then the bass, then the drum. If you take out the drum first the guitar powers up and if you take both the drum and the guitar out the bass powers up.

Make your name "HARD MODE" either at the beginning of the game, or at the factory in chapter 4. It was put in as a secret by the translators, but it's not really secret anymore.
It's not really that bad, only the first three chapters and a bit of four have a noticeable spike in difficulty. Pork Tank becomes really difficult.
