World building, sense of fantasy in a scifi environment, no explanation for things, they just work, everyone seems to have their own thing going on in regards to the empire and rebel war, but I would love to see some shit that happens outside of this dynamic. Coming of age story is a big one for some people but it's w/e for me, because I'm in it for the setting and trooper designs

Star Wars was one of the first times a series blended different genres and did so with any sort of cohesion. The fantasy epic skeleton wrapped up in a sci-fi coat of paint resonated with a lot of people and it was something that hadn't really been seen before, which made Star Wars an instant classic despite the fact that it doesn't look very imaginative today when we've completely exhausted the concept of mixing and matching different genres

For me personally I just really like science fantasy as a setting, in the same way I really enjoyed Outlaw Star as a kid. It manages to mix a sort of gritty future aesthetic with what used to be a vaguely mystical undertone.
It's got a ton of kinda-jank-but-enjoyable video games, and basically all great tabletop experiences. I'll be the first to admit, though, that I can't say I like Star Wars anymore without like sixty asterisks to qualify. I've more or less given up on ever enjoying it again but i've also not really found anything to fill the void it left.

To be honest, Star Wars has a massive amount of potential for adventures and sci-fi storytelling, and i'm not just talking "hey jedi/sith and lightsabers are cool". There's no setting quite like Star Wars amidst all the knockoffs and the rest of the genre. Unfortunately the films waste a large amount of this by focusing almost entirely on a single bloodline and the politics, angst and drama surrounding their shit, but even that has some amazing setpieces along the way.

This is why KOTOR is so beloved, telling a new story with a familiar setting that really has the groundwork for this sort of stuff.

For one thing it's more focused on individual character antics than, say, the more crew-driven and formal style of Star Trek. It also mixes highly advanced and clean sci-fi with rough and dirty rust liberally, while having a distinct visual style that makes the worlds feel not like some future Earth, but something different altogether. While many things in Star Wars do fall into the trap of "mainly human main cast members for relatable characters", it's got a metric fuckton of different alien species and some even majorly relevant compared to, say, Mass Effect having a small handful of races and one of them are blue-skinned bisexual women and the other being basically humans with glowy lines, less toes/fingers and weak immune systems. Instead of tying things to familiar human and Earth stuff like our species expanding out into the cosmos, it's literally a whole 'nother galaxy, so basically anything is possible for adventures.

And with something like the Force being omnipresent, along with a multitude of alien species that have unique abilities and factors of their own, you can get away with seemingly supernatural or unearthly matters because the mysticism was cleverly blended into the setting's very DNA.

TFA was fine a jumping off point movie. It introduced new characters, set up stakes for the new trilogy, and killed off a classic character to end his story and motivate our new heroes and villains. First of all, disney invested 4+ Bi to acquire the rights. People who understand investments know about inflation, interest rates, risk of investment, cost of opportunity, and so on. No one invests 4 Billion if they dont expect to rake in 6-8 back in 5-10 years.
