How the fuck do I save creations from other people to use in my own level?

Was wondering the same

>playing a "user content" game for children on release
Why would anyone do this?

Just wait 3 to 5 years to buy it in the bargain bin for a penny and then enjoy the half a dozen MM Picks that are not absolute shit.

>Why would anyone do this?
I leaned my lesson from big little planet.
>wow dude a platformer and with unlimited user created content! I'm gonna buy it!
it's all shit.

Attached: urban.jpg (358x419, 7K)

Is it up on PSN?

how limited is the game? would you be able to recreate something like Abe's Oddysee for example, or is it just tools for creating platformers, walking sims and flight games etc?

Definitely on my radar to check out in the future. Got too many games in the backlog atm and I'm not creative enough to make anything myself. I'll wait to it's full of content to try out when it's on sale at some point.

bump

Yeah but im too busy playing. Can't type shit here while playing.

>not getting it now for its discounted price to learn how to be a god at creating things

Ok lol

It’s not limited at all outside of the thermometer. I’ve played some complex stuff

thermometer? is that like a meter for how many props and such you can add?
if you can create whatever the fuck you want I'll go full autist for this game

Lbp was good though

Yeah and how complex the graphics and sounds can be. But the limit is pretty damn high and optimizing it isn't difficult.

Attached: Dreams Haunted Doll House.webm (650x366, 2.88M)

neat, my only concern is how big the games can be, if all you can create is short mini-games it'd be a shame but if there's actual 5-10 or more hour games I'm sold

kill them

So you can chain levels together ad infinitum and have a huge game with basically no limits.
In the individual levels you can also have extremely larget environments. I tried testing it and i couldn't really find the limits. The only problem with keeping it all in the same world is that it starts to get harder to actually make the thing because you are moving such big pieces around.
I don't see any limits essentially. You can do anything you want however you want basically.
who?

Please respond

nice, thanks user

It's out?

Yea. Only for a limited time though

It is a limited run but it isn't for a limited time.

Attached: DreamsDeterminedFlawedLiger.webm (954x536, 2.82M)

how's the copyright stuff gonna work in this?

Same as Little Big Planet. As long as you don't touch Star Wars everything will be just fine.

Bought it but I’m not creative. Maybe I’ll fuck around and try to sculpt

you can upload individual assets in addition to levels, as long as you make SOMETHING someone will use it

I got into the beta when that came out however many months ago. It was alright. People came up with some really creative stuff, but it didn't feel super amazing

This game looks cool but imagine the potential if it was on PC

>on release
It's closed beta, you dumbass
>Why would anyone do this?
to have a chance to experience what the game has to offer and make an informed decision on if you would like to purchase it later? Or maybe you're looking forward to it and want to be one of the lucky few first people to get to try it out? Or how about the fact that they are taking user feedback on how the beta is functioning that they will use to help finalize ideas and complete the game, thus giving you a small amount of control in how it shapes up? And it's also free, so there's that.

So yeah, gee, I dunno why anyone would ever bother.

>beta
It's early access
>purchase it later
If you buy it now you already own it later

>no limits
Can it do procedurally generated levels?

this is gonna die so quickly, consolefags don't want to make thing they just want content served up to them on silver platter
enjoy all the great user created content of bare prefab rooms with random assets plonked around the place that everyone will make before getting bored of it.

Sculpting shit is so hard. The learning curve is insane

There is no prefabbed shit you more.

is this still on track for a 2019 release?

It’s already out just go on psn

How’s the sculpting tool? I want to create lewds to share.

Scultping is awesome if you’re good at it. If you’re really serious about it I suggest you get move controls but the ds4 works ok too

Extremely powerful, but tough to learn.

Early access is missing major things like VR and story mode. I wouldn't recommend it to casual players who don't want to create

was thinking of buying that early access thing but am im gonna have to buy the other half the game when its fully out?
unless im reading the description wrong, it seems like youre only paying for a portion of the game.

No if you buy it for 30 now you get the full release at launch

HOLY SHIT IS THIS OUT? PSVR WORKS?

Not yet m8, that’s coming soon

Yea it’s out but vr is later update

>no lewds yet

well i guess i'll wait, and next time i'll read the thread, thanks anons

Japan gets it next week.

>who?
the white thing with kawaii face

like i give a shit.
i just want to build my happy island in vr

To have fun with design without the intensity of professional tools or the demand of years of prior experience.

Shut the fuck up.

is called "the imp" and have many colors and styles
you can't kill it

Wew

Attached: DreamsSnow.webm (952x536, 2.88M)

I'll just bump with a few webms

Attached: DreamsRocketJumpingMechanics.webm (1000x562, 2.92M)

Attached: DreamsBreakableOpenCow.webm (770x770, 418K)

Yep, really fucking hard. I think that without move controllers you can't really do a lot.
I'll probably stick to game and audio stuff for now

Holy shit

Attached: DreamsDistinctPleasingCougar.webm (1920x1080, 1.34M)

>There is no prefabbed shit
do you have brain damage?

I glad this game never got cancelled

Attached: DyBhRFaVAAAMUAo.jpg (1200x675, 59K)

Not him but do you know what prefab assets are? Dreams has none, everything is player created

Attached: DreamsDolls.webm (954x536, 2.88M)

It’s exciting to see this game out in some form of official state and not just a limited time beta. The tools are incredibly powerful and it’s only going to get crazier from here. Personally, I’m just looking to use it for music and animation, but still.

So it's basically a game engine + sharing platform that's exclusive to ps4? What's the appeal of this? On PC, you can download unity/unreal and blender to make games, and play a bunch of free ones on itch.io. And it's all free on PC. Dreams is $30?

Dreams is going to turn out the same way as any indie dev scene where you get a handful of worthwhile games and metric shit ton of unfinished, unpolished, and short 'experiences' from untalented and undisciplined ppl.

Why did Sony fund this??

Best case scenario is this becoming sort of like youtube for indie games on ps4, where you get a couple of good indie games that Sony ends up putting on the playstation store and ppl paying for them, but chances are slim on that.

Really, people who have the drive and talent to make games are already doing it with much more powerful tools on the PC, with the goal of making money. I don't see why anyone would invest their time into Dreams just to release shit for free. Making games is hard...

also, things like sculpting, level design, even music creation all seem doable with dualshock4 or move controllers, but creating game logic sounds like it'll be a fucking pain. No matter how good you are at organizing nodes, wouldn't it get insanely messy super fast, if you're trying to do anything mechanically complicated?

pic related is Unreal engine blueprints system. Logic nodes are simpler than coding, but everyone knows they get messy real quick

Attached: ue_blueprint.jpg (1280x720, 281K)

>On PC, you can download unity/unreal and blender to make games, and play a bunch of free ones on itch.io. And it's all free on PC
Except you need to learn stuff like coding and such to make games on PC, this is just something for people who want easy to use tools without going through the hassle of writting a million lines of code to make a texture move

are you fucking retarded m8? there are prefabs for all sorts of stuff as well as entire example games you can re-purpose
youtu.be/wKLkSFrCg0c?t=237
Yeah I dunno why anyone serious about making a game or 3D modeling would be using this over proper tools, you've gotta hand it to them for making it semi usable with a gamepad/waggle controls and essentially retard tier accessible

you can use Bolt or Playmaker on Unity, Blueprints on Unreal. Similar node-based logic systems as Dreams, no programming required. All free engines on PC (you have to pay for unity assets, but they aren't expensive). With these, you can use mouse and keyboard and make commercial games that you can sell, if you want.

Dreams looks unbelievably powerful and intuitive for what it is, but it's locked inside the ps4 ecosystem and you have to use either dualshock4 or move controllers. It just doesn't sound like a good choice for ppl who want to get into making games...

>no programming required.
false

>It just doesn't sound like a good choice for ppl who want to get into making games
I mean people who play LBP/Mario Maker dont play them because they want to make their own game, its just something they use to make content for other people without spending months making a full game

Dreams is slotted in
a weird position where casuals won't care about it at all, and professional creators won't want to deal with its shortcomings. That leaves a tiny crowd of intermediates who will soon tire of Dreams and move on to more powerful tools on PC.

You sound like fun at parties.

t.party pooper

the thing with LBP and mario maker is that they're much much simpler than Dreams. Practically anyone can make 2d platformers with prefabs and grids.

Dreams is a full 3d engine with logic, sculpting, DAW, etc. It's not going to appeal to the same crowd who want to make simple games quickly. Who the hell is this for??

Is it out?

Can eanyone use the early access

early access version is out

I'm just confused about who it is for, that's all. It looks very intuitive and polished, props to Media Molecule, but it seems like they created an amazing solution to a problem that didn't exist

As someone who wants to make games I kind of agree. Stuff like engines are not hard to use. I am interested in it mm games genuinely get a lot of fans so this one should have a lot of content.

If you buy this version will you get to play till release? Can you play other peoples games? Whats the state of it like how completed is the ea version?

Do I have to buy it again when it comes out?

I dunno. You can make music, steal others assets, host porn lobbies, share your own content like YouTube, infringe on multiple copyrights. It's really a grab back of stuff here.

you can play forever, as i understand it. You're basically getting the full game at a discount, like how most early access games are on Steam.

I jumped into it this morning and there are a lot of community games you can play. A couple of good user created games, mostly short and unfinished stuff. Best ones are made by Media Molecule so far.

Most games are 5 minute long short games. Nothing's super polished atm, obviously, but i'm excited about the potential.

You get the full release at a discount

If there’s one game that needed a /vg/ thread it’s this one

>open game
>15 second splash screen that says "WORK IN PROGRESS. BUGS MAY OCCUR."
like no shit.

Okay thank's I am going to buy it then! I made a thread on /vg/ if you guys want to discuss it /vg/ is slower than Yea Forums so it might pick up some steam or not.

Thanks bro. I’ll jump in the /vg/ thread

That might die soon too though. Looks like most people aren't that interested.

Its a simple but somewhat limited tool for making little games. Its not meant to be for making real big games like game engines but its easy enough that regular pepole can make cool stuff to share with the community. Pure fun

There were dream threads that hit the bump limit on Yea Forums so there definitely is interest it’s just that Sony isn’t really marketing it

/vg/ thread bros...I asked a question in there maybe someone can help me out

Attached: D762BD4A-0EB6-48E7-AF06-366216515A8E.jpg (320x240, 19K)

This better still be available when I get home.
None of you faggots buy it. I don't want one of you taking my place.

Already bought ;^) get in the /vg/ thread Incase this dies

These games appeal to people who want to feel creative without actually being willing to put in the work to be creative.

And as a result all of their content is shit because the kinds of people who want the cheap and fleeting feeling of creativity without earning it are the kinds of people who have nothing worth expressing.
