Trying to get into the series, played REmake in 2015 and Revelations in 2012 and barely remember either of them, so I replayed REmake in January and went from there.
Finished RE2, Remake 2, RE3 and recently CV and I'm on Zero now. I really liked RE2 for what it was, probably my favourite of the bunch. I remember finishing it in one sitting so I could be prepared for REmake 2 and it was a lot of fun. Annoyingly, I played the canon story in the wrong order in both games (LeonA/ClaireB in RE2 and ClaireA/LeonB in REmake2). RE3 was great and Carlos was a cool character.
CV was the first game that felt off to me, almost like the game that really embraced the "b-movie" tier aspect and went really hard with the story. Seeing Wesker run on walls, and Steve's entire character just made me laugh more than the voice acting did. I still like the game, but I could see if someone disliked it.
Also why am I seriously posting in this thread when it's obviously about posting pictures of Claire?

I've only played like 30 minutes of it so far, my biggest complaint is that for some reason the HD edition maps all the controls in odd places. I want to aim with the right trigger, not the right bumper. I want to look at my inventory with Y not X.
And you can't change it without getting a third party control scheme to make it work.

I'm playing CVX right now and I got to the part where you enter "1971" to unlock the antique music box. My health is in danger and the G mutant that jumps in through the window kills me in one hit. I can't dodge his attack. Health items seem sparse in CVX. Should I just completely restart the game?

Maybe, you seem to be lacking in health items which I never did. By the end of the game I had like 3/4 First Aid Sprays because I never really used them unless I needed them or just used the Mixed Herb instead. Also, explore the place, if you haven't already I think there's a health item in the toilets downstairs with the bats.
You could backtrack and check the Military facility, I know I missed a red herb or two. Also make sure you don't use up your herbs when you don't need to. There's no need to use a Mixed Herb on a Yellow Caution state, just use a normal one. IIRC Yellow Caution can be healed with one herb, Orange with 2 and Danger with 3 (but by that point you should mix up your herbs)
Remember to use your bow gun a lot, it's actually really good at killing zombies and you get like 600 arrows throughout the game. Use your pistol for flying enemies, which there are a few of.

The bats can't harm you if you have the lighter equipped. This also works in the Ashford house when you're trying to climb the stairs and there's bats there.

I've had to reevaluate my appreciation of silent hill after spending the last few months going through each of the series' main entries. SH2 is a masterpiece, and SH1 is as good as could be expected from an AA ps1 game, but 3 and 4 are deeply flawed at best. In terms of total value it's kind of paltry in comparison to RE.

Unrelated, but Dolphin is a great emulator to fuck around in. I think I play an hour of CVX in Anaglaph and Side-by-Side cross eyed (thanks DGS) to see the effects it can pull off on a game that wasn't even made for it's system.

I tried to and still got a D rank with 11 hours and 20 saves or so, so whatever.
