I mean, I'll take any AA at this point.
DGS was pretty fucking comfy, even if the cases weren't that strong the setting, characters, and presentation carried it more than enough.

Having a decent time of it. Currently playing through the early bits of Case 5 so I'm going to fuck off out of any AA threads until I'm done. Before I do, I'll praise the game for not backing down from showing the period racism. I mean, there's "Jap" being thrown about like no tomorrow, but I thought it was a bit weird when Barok and Naruhodou joined forces to convict the black guy instead of the white one.

Released as a standalone, judged as one. I'm sure it'll be retroactively more satisfying, but some cases here are not gonna get any less boring because of it.

So, how they dealed with their massive fuck of? Namely localizing pheonix to America, which this game fucks over cuz his ancestor in japanese and the setting is too japanese to cover it?

It's not an official translation, but it's not like that would be hard.
Phoenix's ancestor is Japanese, and either they or their offspring went to America. Wow, big whoop.

Don't be silly, Capcom doesn't give a fuck about this series in the west and would never localise a non mainline entry.

They didn't, the reason people talk about it is because a fan translation for the whole game just got released. Note that the whole ancestry thing isn't mentioned in either game at all so it's not even an issue.
