You have no idea how badly I want this in an open environment with a lot of directions to go in. Imagine an open-world game with a lot of sprawling, varied terrain to venture across, and it has absolutely no instant fast travel, because you're fucking Sonic, and the very act of traveling itself is the fun part. Imagine finding just the right spot to boost up a mountain and gain a shitton of momentum as you go flying off the summit like a gigantic ramp, and skydive down to wherever you please from there, as the boost lets you jerk your direction any way you want from that point. Imagine them making it so instead of Boost meaning instantly being at top speed, using your Boost just gives constant acceleration, where you can just keep going and going without hitting any speed cap. Imagine finding just the right environment that allows you to keep building your speed with this Boost, and gaining more in some way during the process from cool tricks and combos refilling your meter, until you're just unable to keep it up because the sheer speed makes it so hard to handle. Imagine Sonic being given to a company that actually had the balls to pull something like this off.

Call it consistent, but not a fluid gameplay style. Sonic's flow is defined by non stop, rollercaster momentum, not 1 Mil constant speed, or just pure stop in place herky jerk. A skilled classicfag does not get stopped by the environment, they keep going with natural slows and speed ups in the level design.

What you want would be consistent in itself, which is better than Modern Sonic gameplay behaves most of the time, but know the differences between fluid gameplay Sonic invented for itself.
