4k 60fps is good for movie games like Red dead 2 and Gow. But any fighting game or FPS or maybe even Sekiro would be better off with 144-244 fps. This whole debate isn't black or white there is some things that need to be taken into consideration.

I built a $1200ish gaming pc just to do 1080p/144hz and I seriously prefer my 4K/60 FPS I get in my living room...
Things are barley noticeably smooth vs things being a lot clearer...not fucking worth it

Had my 16:10 monitor for a long ass time until recently as the lack of support finally got to me.
Depending on your rig, if you're sticking with 1080p I'd really recommend getting one with 144hz.

upgraded to 1440 a year ago and I'm totally satisfied with it. Maybe Id want 4k for a large tv, but for a sitting monitor 1440 hits the spot for image quality without absurd performance cost.
