Here's your gameplay, bro. Star Citizen GOTYAY and NOT P2W
Silky smooth 20 fps
Shill
>video shows it takes TWENTY MINUTES to get to a location
>shill
You're a fucking moron
>17 minutes in warp drive
HAHAHAHAHAHAH are you fucking serious.
This game looks great, riding gryphons in WoW is my favourite thing
So what do you want, instant quick travel?
It's a fucking video game. I am busy with life, I don't have that long to spare. Even as a NEET I would be so bored.
>hauling a cargo of dog wombs
WTF
It takes 20 minutes to cross both of WoW continents with flyingpaths
Roberts fucked up. QDT should be short. The physical flying should be longer to result in random events near planets, moons, stations. instead this is just ED trash.
It's crazy how much time they've spent on small TECHNOLOGY details hardly anybody will care about when fundamental aspects of the game are still broken. "Look bro we have this sick animation of the guy entering the ship" only to then dip to single digit framerate with hardly anything on screen.
I remember a few years ago when one of the designers explained all the work they had put into the head bobbing. I mean as a coder I get it, it's more fun to work on that than debugging and optimizing your piece of shit engine but I'm firmly convinced that this game will never release.
They'll keep the feature creep going to get the whales to give more and more money until it collapses under its own weight.
So it's not your kind of game then.
not anymore, they sped that shit up a long time ago.
In WoW you rarely have to travel across the continents, there is no reason to travel across two. All the areas you need to be in are condensed.
Exactly, it's more fun if a random thing happens while in control, instead of me going to take a shit and shit posting here because I can't do anything. It's fun if I am legit travelling through space for real, but not as some player on my computer chair
>Hey guys let's make Freelancer 2
>10 years later...
What game does this appeal to? Truck simulator gamers would hate this because they are in 100% control, this is literally auto pilot shit that does nothing. MMO's should not be tedious or time consuming without action
Maybe they’re trying to be realistic. Even then it’s boring to wait 17 minutes to get somewhere on an FTL drive
Or ship progression that doesn't rely on P2W mechanics. It makes sense for a starter ship to be range limited but if you have to pay hundreds of dollars to get a good experience in game then it's just a scam. It's F2P-tier.
Realism doesn't work when you play this game every week. You see the same shit so many times you just wanna min max your time
>looks even less fun than elite
how the fuck
Been shilling this shit more often than usual lately; did the gigawhale moneyflow slow down some?
Yeah. I've been advocating for that type of flight for years now for the game. I can understand if it takes a bit longer to travel extremely far but even within system it takes ten minutes to get from planet to planet and that's not counting the additional time to actually fly within the 50000km within the space near the planet. T. Own the game.
Funny you mention truck driving because it's almost entirely automated in the real world.
>spawn on Olisar
>QT to ArcCorp
>server dies in the middle of QT
>respawn on Olisar
>QT to ArcCorp
>game crashes in the middle of QT
>respawn on Olisar
>QT to ArcCarp
>engine overheat, drop from QT, can't target ArcCorp anymore
>suicide
>respawn on Olisar
>QT to ArcCorp
>disable literally every module of the ship
>finally arrive to ArcCorp
>game crashes
>respawn on Olisar
very good game 10/10 would pay again
>Here's your gameplay, bro.
Uh.. where's the gameplay OP? I only saw a ship stuck in fast travel for 20 minutes?
Truck driving is not automated and won't be for a while.
I don't even feel sorry for retards who gave money for this. They deserve everything bad happening to them.
It's really too slow for me personally. There is an audience for it, but it won't last.
In the real world yes, but people are PAYING for this, they aren't getting paid to drive a digital fake ship
I said almost.
that looks aggressively bad, from all stages. so much is wasting the players time for no reason
What? There were two raid zones in Silithus. I had to take the long ass flight from Org to whatever the town in Silithus was called hundreds of times. Also, Org to Blackrock Mountain was also shitty.
IMMERSION
It's like I'm really a fat ass that payed for an overbloated excuse of software and now waster all my time validating all of my previous purchases by enjoying a 20 minute long loading screen
SCAM CITIZEN
You literally teleport to raids these days, why fly?
Biggest scam of this decade
Elite is fun in the way daggerfall was, don't know if that's a fair comparison but I get similar vibes when I play either
I think in my eons of playing WoW I did that once or twice max, there is rarely any reason to travel more than a few minutes while leveling
This is a fucking requirement just to play
In the real world you also get paid to do it.
It's not almost. Automated driving is a long ways off. Cameras still don't work in rain properly.
That’s what I was saying. They’re trying to be realistic, but for this type of game it’ll be a bad idea for it to take a long time to get somewhere.
That was pretty much my reaction as well. "It's slow and tedious therefore it's challenging and if you don't like it you're a casual".
ED is not fun. Take everything bad about that Star citizen video in the OP and times it by 100. Also remove the ability to get out of your ship.
Elite Dangerous is the game for slowwww as fuck boomers. And that bored the crap out of me. This game is supposed to be faster, more active and it's even slower and boring. How does that make any sense? God if they are aiming for this, it's gonna be bad.
God I am so glad I sold the $310 ships I bought for $550 and made a profit off this like a year ago. For real I managed to get my money back. It's so sad because I got that golden ticket before the game was announced and I was so passionate about it.
t. never played the OG Elite
>you lived long enough to see No Guy Buy be a better game than Scam Citizen
I remember how mustards bragged about this game years ago when Bloodborne released. I wonder where they are now.
Playing Team Freemium 2.
>eight years and a quarter of a billion dollars
Elite is about space trade first, combat second. It has ALWAYS been this way since the 80s.
I get that, but that bored me and that is fine because the game is not meant for me. But this is even worse, this is supposed to be THE space mmo that allows walking, FPS, what Eve Online couldn't be.
>zooming this hard
HAHAHAHAHA NO YOU FUCKING IDIOT HAHAHAHAHAH
>t. drove long haul for two years
t. Afghanistan
Blunder of the century
>wake up
>jumps through the window
nice immersion
t. Derek Smart
>space desert bus
lel
This is an offensive analogy. What's next, food? You wanna compare apples to oranges?
Clearly you haven’t played Flight sims
At least some programmers are getting good practice and projects they can point to on their CV.
This is such a fucking stupid comment. But its still not really fair to compare SC to Desert Bus. One game requires skill and not just whoever has the bigger wallet wins.
Also why the fuck can't someone compare an apple to an orange. Only a brainlet thinks you can't compare two similar things. Fuck let me even compare things that aren't similar at all.
>a grape is more tasty to me than gravel
Sat Citizen fucked up do hard that even this game looks better
youtube.com
Why did he thought it's funny to waster half an hour just to travel to a world? At this point you need 40 hours just to visit a few copy pasted houses just because they are so big and empty
redpill me on X4. gud game or wait a year like every other egosoft game?
they'll probably add a quick travel for adhd sufferers for you
the important question is will it have waifus?
>what if elite dangerous and doom 3 had a baby
this game only had one job and that was to be better than Elite Dangerous in every conceivable way and they couldn't even do that with the retarded amount of money amassed from retards. THIS FUCKER ISN'T EVEN RELEASED YET!
Jesus Christ. 20 minutes? It should be 5 for starter ships.
The entire gap for ship travel speeds should be minimized.
Wait, they're still pretending that this is gonna be a thing?
So does it appeal to autistic masochists? Game design is getting so shitty, the worst I’ve seen is in ARK official servers where you literally need to sit for eight hours next to a baby wyvren and feed it every 5 minutes or it will die. Seriously these game developers have no shame as of late.
>westacuck games
>waifus
lol enjoy your disturbing uncanny valley face scanned CGI Hollyjew actors lmao
Always sent chills when I was a kid, like something real was about to happen where life and death were on the balance.
youtube.com
hyperspace more like
hybernate
Will it be better than Freelancer?
No.
Better graphics!
Only 20 minutes - how boring. You casuals would not have survived your first trip to Hutton Orbital.
Dropped 120 on it back then. Shiller it hard.
No memes I now have a ps4 and bloodborne is one of my favorite games ever made. Cant win em all
Maybe you can leave the bridge and play Pazaak with your friends in the back.
Realistic would be no warp drive at all, single person ships barely even exist, every travel takes days or weeks of planning, ships are composed mostly of a large fuel and propulsion bus with enormous radiators dragging a comparatively small cargo and habitat pod behind it, and reaching even the other side of a single solar system can take anywhere from several weeks to several months. Please don't bullshit anyone that a 20 minute wait is trying to be "realistic", it's just an irritatingly long timesink in a game which in most other ways is completely unrealistic.
Realistic within the game's established lore. Quantum drives and star gates are a thing in Star citizen. Nobody wants true hard sci-fi.
YES
WHY THE FUCK DO I NEED TWENTY COCK SUCKING MINUTES LONG LOADING SCREENS??
How long does it take to grind a better ship? I would be fine with twice the speed.
Prices and rewards are far from being final and money reset every minor patch.
For 20 years people have complained about casualization of games and consolitzation. Now a true technological powerhouse going beyond the limits of modern PC hardware while not cutting any corners for the ADHD riddled masses, and just as always. Endless crying.
Travel time should depend on the total mass of ship`s loadout including cargo. Where 20 mins is for a fully loaded barge.
Sure you don't need it but it sets a tone. That's the tone they wanted for it if you look at the video it's not a 20min long loadscreen.
Tone definition: the general character or attitude of a place.
If it's heavier shouldn't it fly faster ?
In space ?
It's not about flying. It's about energy consumption of the faster-than-light engine which is higher for a ship with more mass.
I just wanted Freelancer 2...
oof
It is Freelancer 2 if you play it that way. It's up to you. The call of duty part is optional.
>7 minutes space flying
Good joke
>spend 20+minutes in quantum drive doing nothing
>spend 10 minutes landing on shitty city
sasuga Shill Citizen. how can anyone defend this shit? there is literally zero gameplay in 27 minutes of video.
bruh, i get "tone". but this is just too much? who in their right mind would enjoy just sitting, watching at the same warp animation for 20 minutes? maybe some of the autistic backers, but i'm sure the large ammount of normies that backed this will flip their shit over this.
>he doesn't know about 10 min train ride to trade district and back
How the fuck does a planet that small even retain an atmosphere? And why would you wait 20 minutes to travel there, holy shit what a waste of 400 gorillion dollars.
Amazing. Just amazing.
It's like I'm *really* in space and I can *almost* forget how mediocre my own life is.
I'LL TAKE ONE CRUISER FOR $10,000 PLEASE
I mean but really, how many people who dumped money in this flaming dumpster bin do you think have died since development started?
Also
>No burn on entering planet's atmosphere
Jesus guys even No Man's Meme got that one right, get your shit together.
I'm sorry that you plebs can't enjoy the deep immersion of Star Citizen. I bet you didn't even donate $10k to it.
>being proud of a game that's going to take ten years to approach being decent
SCfags are some of the most delusional and insane people in the video game sphere.
Elite had the right idea after all, though it has (realistic) distances far greater than this and requires some skill and effort and a minimum of planning to plan a route and travel. This is literally just a 20 minute loading screen. Imagine how much electricity this game is going to waste on a fancy screensaver.
Elite also had most travel times in system down to under 10 minutes. Both are still shit and add nothing to the game other than SPACE BIG.
No shit Sherlock.
Saturn's moon Titan has a very thick atmosphere and is only about 5,000 km in diameter.
What an awful way to balance ships, making fast travel take ages in a slow cheap ship might be some weird sense of "realistic" but it just kills the game for anyone who isn't a whale who spent hundreds if not thousands on this game for better ships.
I suppose this shit was to be expected given how they're funding the game and so who gets to be part of the community and the ones the devs listen to, this game is being made by whales for whales at this point and I'm sure the rich idiots who have hundreds to blow on virtual ships actually quite like it this way, I'm sure there's a good handful of them who'll be trying to push and influence this into basically being a super special exclusive club only the richest get to truly enjoy.
I won't be surprised if they can never change horrible features like this because then whales which are their entire paycheck will complain and pull out.
Ignoring the fact this game is never going to be a working completed product because of it's horrible feature creep and such, even if it DID come out it's going to be a whales wet dream of a game, only playable to those with more money than sense.
Music is nice.
The only good thing about Star Citizen is the tech, graphics and cool ships, ED lacks them all.
It's fun for 30-40 hours, paid full price at launch and it was worth it if you ask me.
If you're stingy with your money though, I'd wait until it gets all the DLC first.
It has cute girls.
At least EVE online doesn't tax your system so much that you can do other stuff while waiting for that asteroid to be mined.
I've argued with space dads on the forum over this bullshit, apparently it's a good idea to them and adding bullshit like chess boards or pool tables is enough to warrant 20+ minute travel times.
In reality 99.9999% of the people on this planet will play another fucking game and if they for whatever reason wanted to wait, they'd use their phones/second monitors rather than roleplaying like retards.
I played E:D for 200-300 hours and bought cheapest shit for SC i could find
unironically think that SC will be and is a much better game
I'd probably play it if the rest of the game was fun but you're correct as fuck I'd be tabbing out during the travel times and doing something else or browsing on my phone while I wait.
It's just not worth it for the overwhelming majority of players, there are always other ways to roleplay I don't know why they need a gameplay feature that ruins the game for nearly everyone just to roleplay waiting.
How about having Time Compression mechanics like in other space games like Freespace.
(you can basically the multiplier for time scale, and it is not like you can abuse it, since it can easily get you killed)
How would that work in a multiplayer game exactly?
Look elsewhere for that.
Jesus christ. I play Elite regularly, and it's not even REMOTELY that excruciating to travel. And I'm STILL slightly bored by it at times.
you basically go into a different instances. If you want to meet, you go somewhere to "rest" to "pass the time" to synch up.
I mean, opinions. I appreciate Elite the way most people appreciate Euro Truck Sim.
That would completely fuck the balance and risk of the game. Why hire a few ships to protect your ship filled with valuable cargo across a 30 minute journey when you could warp time and get there in 5 with no risk on a different instance entirely?
Terrible solution, just cut down on travel times instead and keep everyone on the same "server".
You guys should have stopped wishing for something to be what EVE Online wasnt, and started wishing for EVE Online to be less tedious and more engaging. If EVE just had actual combat, it'd be great. The shit it gets right, it gets perfect.
That's genuinely fucking horrifying.
I hate Star Citizen, but why the fuck is everyone's go-to space game Freelancer? It's the most arcadey, barebones space sim of all time.
Better question: How many people who dumped their SAVINGS into this game and alienated their families/spouses ended up putting a gun in their mouth in the past year or two?
You don't get what time compression is? You still encounter others like enemies but they will have far more time to react to your travel and plot interception course, and not to mention time compression could also cause you to easily crash if used improperly
Woah it sure will be fun staring at nothing for 20 minutes everytime I want to go somewheew
The game better have immersive drug mechanics so you can get high along with your character while you wait to get to the next planet.
that was a Simpsons episode bro not real life
Sweet, so it's like Elite Dangerous. Can't wait.
>x rebirth was trash
>x4 is all sandbox
>elite is mmo space truck simulator
>star citizen is 20 years away from release
I just wanted to play freelancer 2 with updated graphics
Only because they never learned the glory of Allegiance
The most cancerous people to ever exist is the one who want videogames to replicate all the boring shit they do in real life.
Say whatever you want about Overwatch, FIFA, DOTA, whatever, but at least you're getting an actual videogame, one that at least try to be fun. Unlike Star Citizen's "20 minutes loading screen because muh immersion, because I want to be a space trucker ".
Underspace
youtube.com
If its not fun, why bother?
wait, can't you do other shit in your ship while it's in warp?
>17 minutes of FTL travel
Lmao
Why would someone who has a busy life with little time to spare choose to sit down and play a slow space sim?
Are you just stupid?
The fuck?
I played this game back in 2001 in winamp
>displays nothing
>30 fps
The space sim genre is meant to be played with 2 monitors. On one you're traveling and other tedious bullshit while you actually watch or play something fun on the other.
it's not ftl nigga , it was like 50k km/s
Okay. But how long does it take in a non-starter ship or an upgraded started ship.
If it wasn't going to be an obvious P2W mechanic where you pay to not have to wait 20 minutes for """FAST""" travel, you could definitely balance some cool strategic PvP around this.
Imagine attacking an enemy fleet while the bulk of their force is elsewhere, and you've got 20 minutes to do as much damage as you can before the armada arrives to fuck your shit up.
>genre so boring you have to watch youtube while you're "playing" it
No wonder it's dead.
I think the jump times and planetary atmosphere shit are far too much, and this coming from someone who plays Star Citizen a lot.
The point is if you jump to a system you basically stay there a while, and that's cool and all but ArcCorp is in the same system and it still takes fucking forever.
>42,313,075Km
Wow that sounds like a long way. I wonder what that is in Elite units
>141.141 light seconds
Holy shit. Anything
It fits the tone of the game for sure.
Wait a very long time for very little if any payoff.
StarCitizen - 2025 release!
MAYBE
That's true. Just like most boring pieces of shit that get 4/10 reviews are not my game.
Apples are easier to eat but oranges taste better.
Not difficult.
umm stop shilling against star citizen, if you don't want to spend 20 minutes going from planet to planet it isn't your sort of game
The problem with cool ideas like this is that you'll eventually be thwarted by nerds who poopsock 100 different accounts so they have ships lined up at every single major station, and so your cool strategic attack has no value when 50 of said autists all hear the call of the one cruiser you're attacking and can intercept you within a minute.
I'd be all for a system like this if you treated it as totally automated, and take advantage of the fact everyone has phones. So I can plot a course out to the middle of bumfuck nowhere with a real-world travel time of 10 hours, then go to bed, and 5 hours in my phone starts beeping at me to let me know some fucker has pulled me out of warp speed. Give players a cooldown based on how long their journey has been so far, so if I've been travelling for 5 hours I get 5 minutes to boot up my rig and get in game before weapon systems can be activated.
Honestly though, it doesn't sound fun. I don't understand people who want games to be a literal virtual life, because the existence of shit like respawning makes the whole thing meaningless anyway.
Fact: no game ever was made worse by introducing an instant travel
sounds like eve online
