GTAV is better alone for the fact that they recorded enough dialog to last for most of the car ride between mission objectives. In GTAIV, despite needing to drive long distances entirely for filler purposes in every single mission they have recorded way too few lines so that you drive like 70% of the time without anyone talking.

You won't get banned, if you mod GTAV all your mods will be going into a "mods" folder in the main GTAV directory where there will be a copy of the main archives that you can edit/mod. When running single player, the game will load the modified game files from that folder but your actual original game files remain untouched. When entering multiplayer, the game loads the original files and is indistinguishable from an unmodded one.

So have I. I actually like it, but I like GTAV too, at least the singleplayer. They both have strengths and weaknesses and I think GTAV is just slightly better overall. Not exactly. A part of the problem is that cars in both IV and V are very slow compared to their real life counterparts, probably because consoles can't load the map quickly enough if you're actually going at 250mph. I modded GTAV to remove these limits, by giving the cars more power and reducing drag significantly. This resulted in acceleration and top speeds that match the real life analogs of the cars in the game, but what surprised me is that cornering and driving in general became much more fun and challenging without actually touching anything else in the handling files. GTAV has a fantastic basis for fun driving, but only this mod actually brings it all out. Otherwise it's way too tame.

The point is, retard, that GTAIV tries to solve this by extremely exaggerating car physics and suspension dampening and by reducing friction to about 1/3 of the actual value. The cars start sliding around at speeds much lower than they actually would in reality and it feels awful. The fact that some people think it's realistic is laughable. GTAV's driving is actually a much better simulation of real world driving, save for the car deformation. GTAIV made the driving literally artificially more difficult than it needed to be. If you like stupid, arbitrary rules that make the game tedious for no reason, be my guest.

I mean, that's exactly how I play the game. I actually took the mod that's available online and then heavily modified it on a car-to-car basis until I got their handling/acceleration/top speed to match their real world counterparts as closely as possible. GTAV provides a far better basis to even begin making a mod like that than GTAIV, because it actually simulates a lot more values that go into the overall performance of a car.

You can mod the traffic density and variety too. The map is split into blocks that have their own rules for the traffic (the amounts and types of vehicles that spawn) so you can set your own rules manually for each individual block. Maybe it's not worth the trouble for you, but the option is out there.

You would have a point if you stopped after saying that you don't care about that feature and it doesn't determine the quality of the game, that's your opinion, fair enough, but you actually started arguing back about why it doesn't matter after that which is legit. I drive IRL and in games the same; go thru turns as fast as fucking possible. IV's topspeed was fine, it was actually about 85mph but that was fine for the shape of the map if you look at it as a circuit. They introduced the '06 Cadillac STS that got up to like 92 and was a boat to control but I like driving boats! Its a guilty pleasure. There is an art to driving boats.
GTAV never punished me for reckless driving for the simple fact you couldn't go fast whatsoever. GTAIV did if I so much as pulled out wrong. Even the motorcycles were fun in that game.

Sounds really interesting, wish I had a decent PC at the time but i play BeamNG now and that hits the spot for me.
When I did learn how to mod a few years later I often made my own carconfigs based on whatever car model I downloaded.

GTAV has the better missions by far. You posting a boring mission does nothing to that argument, since 80% of GTAIV's missions were boring and tedious. GTAV's missions hold your hand a bit too much but at least there are more unique ones. The heists are all unique, repelling from a helicopter is great, stealing a submarine is great, demolishing a hillside house is great, getting drugged by your son is a change in pace, etc. There was a LOT more variety in the missions than in GTAIV where literally every mission is go here and shoot these guys

I like every GTA, I think they are all great games. I only started to appreciate GTAIV when I played the expansion packs. Driving starts to feel really fun the moment you switch to first person mode in the car. When they added checkpoints to cut out all the driving I also started to enjoy the missions way more. Being able to switch between flawless first and third person in GTAV is a really stunning feature, I loved to play around with it.

That's one of my concerns with V, the radios. They weren't terrible but not really memorable. I can remember most of soulwax FM and CONVOOOOYYY as well as some 90's pop songs, but that's about it. The problem here, to me, is that they decided to go with a constantly updated large flow of songs. So everytime you log in to play V you hear new songs, and there's a big bunch of them (lots more stations than older games too). They never dig into your soul from listening to them over and over and over. I can probably sing the entire K-DST catalog by heart. I can remember all of The Journey and Electro-chock. I hum "I need a rythm, to make body move" while cooking and DOMI-NION under the shower.
IV had a similar issue with the DLC's. I can't remember a single song from the DLC's because you simply don't hear them enough (and I played a LOT of gay Tony)
And the thing is, I actually played nearly 600 hours of V online if you add ps3 + pc, that's very likely a lot more than my SA and IV time put together.
This is in my opinion a mistake decision they made, and one they could have seen coming.

truly the best way to tell if someone is a zoomer is if they say 4 is better. when that game came out everyone was saying it was dogshit compared to the ps2 games

a lot of the things that were in gta 3/san andreas/ gta 4 were removed in 5. gta 5 is basically just a bare arcade game with more focus on the story elements and not gameplay.

a lot of people just don't realize what they have until its gone. if gta 5 was a step up improvement in every way from 4, we wouldn't be here right now, but it isn't.
