Does anyone actually use this? What's the point when your library's already in an easy to read list?

People with horrible eye sight mostly.

It apparently helps with control compatibility? There's been a few times where switching to it has just magically got my controller working when it otherwise wouldn't, so I do sometimes.

If not for that I wouldn't though.

isn't this for if you use a TV and play from couch?

>playing PC games on a TV
Enjoy your 30hz.

Yeah but why would anyone actually do that

It's meant to be a console style interface if your doing something like playing on a couch with a controller.

What kind of shit tier chinese TVs are you buying that only do 30HZ?

this but its a crap shoot whether it will work well with the game you want it to. You can use it to access player made controller mapping.

Hisense.

Because it is easier? It has full controller support, automatically switches your main display and actually readable from a far. I use it every time friends come over. The only issue it doesn't automatically switch main sound output device.

I only use it out of necessity when I'm playing rocket league or some other casul game you play with a controller laying stoned on the couch.

I use it for controller support reasons, and sometimes I stream games from my pc at home to a laptop when I'm visiting people, and I use big picture when playing on a tv in these situations.

That said, big picture mode is pretty shit, the UI is clunky and slow - but the regular steam interface on a tv in a living room is barely navigable by comparison.

Because PC is a flexible platform and gives you the luxury of doing that. Not everyone wants to sit in front of a desk playing games all the time. Being able to play a game on a TV or couch without the garbage performance or restrictions consoles have is a great feature to have available.

>automatically switches your main display
It does?

it looks like it hadnt been updated since 2010

I am thankful for Big Picture because it eventually brought the controller configuration tool to the normal version of Steam, and that tool is a blessing.

I'm actually posting from big picture mode right now. It's reminiscent of Internet Explorer on the Xbox 360.

Yes, it is somewhere in the Big Picture options. I am at work, so can't screenshot it.

Found it. This makes my life a lot easier.
I've been manually changing primary monitor to tv when I wanted to couchplay.

>30hz
I play PC and console on my TV, it's a 5 year old bravia at 200htz
Wtf are you playing on fgt

>press home button to return to my emulator frontend home screen
>steam big picture launches over it
I know there's a setting to stop that, it just resets itself to default every time I disconnect my controller or close steam. it's a fucking pain.

Big Picture Mode (and controller support in general) is the only good thing Valve has done with Steam in 10 years

>achievement notification blocking your game for all eternity
no thanks

>not having a 65" gamer TV
lmaoing at your life
